**★★★★★ — HU-165845906, Nov. 2020**

> We asked Patrick to create a new bathroom and storage space for us in the basement of our century-old house in Ottawa. We were definitely not looking for “cookie cutter”, but instead something distinctive and quirky that harmonized well with the basement’s old stone foundation and brick walls. What Patrick created is spectacular: a beautiful, calm space with repointed stone on the outer walls, exposed beams in the ceiling and whitewashed brick, and tiled and painted surfaces that are visually interesting but not cluttered-looking. Even the vanity that Patrick created is striking, with unfinished and antiqued wood surfaces and drawers made from wine crates. And the whole project went very smoothly, with all of the members of Patrick’s team doing a great job. In short, the result was well beyond our expectations. We would recommend Patrick for remodelling work without any hesitation.

**★★★★★ — Keith Josephson, Dec. 2017**

> Patrick helped us to renovate our basement and we were very happy with the results. The design that he came up with was great and really in line with what we were looking for. Likewise, he and his wife were really pleasant and easy to get along with. The quality of the work he did was also excellent. Everything was done very meticulously and with an eye for detail. I would recommend Chroma to others without any hesitation.

**★★★★★ — Kevin Jolly, April 2017**

> We had Patrick design and built the interior of our backyard shed into a space which creatively doubles for storage and for sleeping in the summer. He did an absolutely amazing job. It was exactly what we were looking for. Excellent workmanship. He does fantastic work. We will be hiring him again.

**★★★★★ — Marie, March 2017**

> Patrick did an amazing job at renovating our bathroom. He gave us useful advice on which materials to use and how to decorate and his workmanship was outstanding.

**★★★★★ — Jonathan Juane, March 2017**

> After the great experience we had on the basement, we hired Patrick again to install a bathroom/laundry room in our basement. We talked to him about what we were looking for and he gave us an even cooler design than we could have thought of ourselves. He had great recommendations for the space and as per usual put in some unique artistic touches that really increased the value of our home.

**★★★★★ — Erika Kiss, March 2017**

> Patrick built us the most spectacular covered deck! The whole process was easy and straight forward thanks to this excellently skilled business. With Excellent communication, respect for property while working and dependability it makes it easy to review and recommend this company!

**★★★★★ — D Beaton, March 2017**

> Everything was done better than expected and in the end, all was nicely cleaned up! He's got a good talent for seeing how to make a renovation design idea come to life and be streamlined into the existing home. He's done work for my walls, ceilings, shelving, repairs, painting, and a full closet renovation. He takes pride in his work and I would hire him a third time for sure!

**★★★★★ — Marie Lasnier, March 2017**

> We had a great experience with Patrick Jolly of Chroma Reno+Design who worked on two different projects for us. We particularly appreciated the fact that he was able to come up with design options based on our ideas but also to propose cleverly thought alternatives. Patrick is an outstanding professional and we can only praise the quality of his work. We found with him someone who pays constant attention to details, is extremely well organized and knowledgeable and who works within budget and in a timely fashion.

- [Wood & Stone Bath](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/wood-and-stone-bath-pj-vj~6354440)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 22
  - Description: Donna and Ben contacted us with the request to add a full bathroom in the basement of their century old Glebe home. The space was completely unfinished and raw with a lot of overhead plumbing and two small deep windows. A few key elements stood out for this space; the 2' thick stone foundation walls, the expanse of piping overhead along with rough sawn floor joists. Working with these features we hired Solid Masonry to sandblast and repoint the stone wall which became a feature for the space. Fo…
- [Julie's Front Porch](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/julie-s-front-porch-pj-vj~3128433)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: Julie stopped us in our truck one day and asked if we could design and build a new front porch for her home. Later that year (before the snow fell) we finalized this design and got to work on her project. It turned out that the space under her previous concrete porch was a giant void down to the home's footings. Beth suggested we use the demolished concrete to fill that hole, saving the cost of removing the waste from the site. Julie appreciated the suggestion, so we filled the hole and finished…

- [The Jolly's Bunkie](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/the-jolly-s-bunkie-pj-vj~2355639)
  - Location: Halifax, NS
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: Kevin and Carolyn had torn down their garage and needed a place to keep bikes, gardening tools and other outdoor items. But they wanted more than a "storage shed", they had the name bunkie in mind and were thinking about a place they could also "get away" from the house. So on Dec 29th 2013 we began this project with only a samll window to complete it. Snow, wind, and freezing tempuratures did not stop us and we were able to finish the job in 9 days. The jolly's, inlcuding their 4 kids loved the…
- [Rustic Poolside Bar](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/rustic-poolside-bar-pj-vj~5703605)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: Jesse wanted to bring his friends and the game to his poolside backyard. He specified a rustic look and wanted a place to serve and store drinks while he and his friends enjoyed a game or a dip in the pool. With lots of storage this bar seats 4 comfortably with plenty of room for the barista in back.
- [50's Retro Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/50-s-retro-kitchen-pj-vj~5703530)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: Sarah and Harold contacted us when they bought this small story and a half house in Westboro village because it needed some major work and upgrades. it was also important to keep somewhat in the style period of the home and to incorporate elements harkening back to the middle of the 20th century. They also were fond of the farmhouse aesthetic and a back to the basics mentality. With the kitchen and living area as the starting point, we came up with a new floor plan that opened up the tight and c…
- [Donya's His and Her closet unit](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/donya-s-his-and-her-closet-unit-pj-vj~2362259)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: Donya had a typical walk-in closet with a single shelf and clothing rod below. She wanted to create more storage for clothing, shoes and accessories, especially since she didn't use a free standing dresser. We came up with this design and worked with a modular sizing that would accommodate Ikea's fabric storage boxes which we used as drawers. The unfinished Baltic birch looks modern and slightly industrial and is satin smooth to the touch.
- [Exterior Repair/Residing](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/exterior-repair-residing-pj-vj~5703625)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: Karen and Steve needed some repair work done to their kitchen addition wall. There was water damage and things were looking a little tired and in need of a facelift. We replaced the damaged wall framing, sheathing and insulation, installed new single hung North Star windows from Manotic Doors and Windows and custom milled pine ship lap from The Wood Source which was specifically weathered to have a silver grey appearance.
- [John and Laurie's Compact Bathroom](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/john-and-laurie-s-compact-bathroom-pj-vj~2361882)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: Much like John and Laurie's kitchen, this 30-year-old bathroom was in need of a fresh start. In less than 50 square feet we managed to keep a toilet, 30" vanity and sink, while slightly enlarging the size of the previous shower. The shower niche adds just enough room for elbows and turning around in this 27"x27" space! White subway tiles create a subtle canvas for the chrome Grohe faucet, the single slope base, and the porcelain tiled linear drain. Also included in the three piece powder room is…
- [Keith and Emilie's Entertainment Wall](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/keith-and-emilie-s-entertainment-wall-pj-vj~2904176)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: Keith and Emilie wanted to make this basement walkout room more comfortable and stylish for frequent guests who stayed in an adjacent bedroom. The fireplace was roughed-in but needed to be framed and finished. They also needed a place for the TV, turntable, speakers, other media, and books, but wanted to keep the space simple and uncluttered. We composed the space to reflect the modern style of the home, complementing that aesthetic with the warmth of a brick fireplace surround. We also incorpor…
- [Joe's Glebe Porch Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/joe-s-glebe-porch-renovation-pj-vj~2362039)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: This porch in the heart of the Glebe had seen better days, and Joe wanted to give it a fresh look while keeping true to the classic style. There was more than peeling paint in this job; in fact, one of the main loadbearing beams had almost completely rotted from the inside out. We removed everything from the top of the post up and in rebuilding the roof gave it a little extra appeal with a street-facing gable. In the end, we had recreated a porch in the classic architectural style of Ottawa's fo…
- [John and Laurie's Exterior Space](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/john-and-laurie-s-exterior-space-pj-vj~2358204)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: John and Laurie contacted us to renovate a 30+ year old front porch that was looking pretty run down and stale. We worked closely with them both to come up with a craftsman style porch that tied nicely into the style of the building. Starting from scratch we crafted a new porch that was both solid and beautiful. They were quite happy and hired us to renovate their side entry porch and from there we came up with a design to build an intimate dinner deck complete with planters and a privacy wall.
- [Guy and Marie's wood storage addition](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/guy-and-marie-s-wood-storage-addition-pj-vj~2355100)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: Our customer wanted an addition to store their supply of firewood, while creating a beautiful space at the back of their home. They were inspired by Canadian barns and other vernacular architecture. We came up with a design that offered the best use of 100 square feet while maintaining good traffic flow inside and outside the space.
- [Guy and Marie's pantry renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/guy-and-marie-s-pantry-renovation-pj-vj~2355144)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 5
  - Description: Guy and Marie were looking for a way to organize this room and create more space for overflow from the kitchen. We tore out the 50-year-old cabinets and created about 500% more storage using IKEA cabinets and solid wood counter and shelves. We took out the existing door and opened the space to flow more with the rest of the house. With the leftover birch counter top we created floating shelves to break up the continuous cabinetry.
- [Rene's Two Storey Porch](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/rene-s-two-storey-porch-pj-vj~2358424)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: This two storey porch on the back of a traditional home in Hintonburg was worn out and becoming unsafe. Staying close to the original style, we reconstructed the porch from the bottom up, salvaging components that had remained structurally sound over the years. We spruced up the look with horizontally spaced boards and classical trim and moldings. The finished product was pre-finished with high grade exterior oil followed by an acrylic top coat, and a solid stain on all horizontal surfaces. The…
- [Sherbrooke Bathroom](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/sherbrooke-bathroom-pj-vj~2358388)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: This bathroom in a rental home dated the rental and was showing signs of deterioration. The floors needed to be re-leveled after years of supporting a cast iron tub. Using IKEA cabinetry, we created a more cohesive look to the room while increasing storage. The tub and shower surround incorporated a "waterfall" accent with a graffiti inspired porcelain tile. We finished the floors in a neutral luxury vinyl tile.
- [Kiss Covered Deck](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/kiss-covered-deck-pj-vj~2358340)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: Erika and Pete were excited to have their drafted plans for a large covered deck built, though the weather was getting cold. Reviewing the plans, we made a few suggestions and were happy to get started despite the impending winter. The project was nearly complete when we had to take a short hiatus due to extreme temperatures. However, we were able to complete the build in time for Erika, Pete and their cute pup Brisket to enjoy the earliest signs of spring.
- [John and Laurie's Kitchen Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/john-and-laurie-s-kitchen-renovation-pj-vj~2358303)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: The cabinets in this kitchen were made by IKEA and though they were pretty worn, had lasted over three decades, so there was no question IKEA would be the choice for this kitchen remodel. Laurie took the role of lead designer and we helped her find the most efficient layout and combination of cabinets and drawers. We selected a washed natural stone for the backsplash and carried the pattern down the hall to the side door, creating a sense of space and strength. Laurie selected a beautiful granit…
- [Jon and Melissa's Eclectic Kitchen Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/jon-and-melissa-s-eclectic-kitchen-renovation-pj-vj~2355390)
  - Location: Ottawa, ON
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: Jon and Melissa were growing their family and wanted a more fun and accessible kitchen space. We worked together to come up with a design that incorporated some of the original features of the home with a more family friendly layout. We took down a couple walls and created a layout that made sense organizationally. We ended up with this kind of retro, eclectic kitchen with some very custom features, including a movable island made from reclaimed wood and drawers, custom shelves. The cabinets are…
