> Our experience with Red Pepper Design was really great and we would happily recommend Margie and Co.’s services to others. Working with a designer was important to us because we wanted someone with a good sense of space since we were working with a small bathroom in a small home. I feel that our interactions were collaborative and that Margie was not afraid to tell us when something “wouldn’t work”, but I also didn’t feel that she wasn’t open to our tastes and ideas. Working with a designer also helped keep our project scope manageable and gave our contractors a strong frame of reference when giving us an estimate. Our bathroom looks fantastic, and I feel that our decision to use a designer has added the most value and utility we could possibly have gotten out of this project. Margie was pleasant to work with, timely and professional, and also flexible with some of the moving targets I created by not being a better planner. I’m also very pleased with the cabinetry we ordered through Margie. The boxes for the cabinets themselves are very high quality (not particle board) and the finish we selected is of a very high quality as well.

> We were familiar with Red Pepper from our time living in Boulder. After we moved to Washington DC we hired Red Pepper for some design help and to build custom cabinets for our dining room. The cabinets were shipped to us and arrived in perfect condition. We love them! I'll definitely return to Red Pepper for our design needs.

> We did not enjoy the experience working with Margie. We called her in mid-project saying we needed help making a lot of decisions. She said she was bored (during COVID-19) and was ready to jump in and "be busy." She did not move fast. She had some okay design ideas, unfortunately her cabinets took almost 8 weeks to get here after we ordered them (she quoted us 4-6 weeks). She also forgot to mention a $140 delivery charge until a month after they had been ordered. One of the cabinets came broken and she wouldn't order a replacement until our GC could unpack and examine every single box from both bathrooms to see if there was more damage. And then a few weeks after our cabinets arrived (and we had long since stopped using her), she tried to invoice us for more delivery fees. It was a very unpleasant experience in a stressful time. We only knew our replacement cabinet came in b/c my husband texted her to see. She did not reply in timely manner to emails - and gave off an energy that she was doing us a favor when we were paying her $150/hour. I would recommend not using Margie; remodels are stressful enough.

**Comment from Red Pepper Design & Cabinetry:**

> This client called me mid project because her original designer quit. I don't want to hold anyone's feet to the fire for being anxious during COVID, especially early in the quarantine phase, but this client was exceptionally anxious and sharp tongued. I'm sorry for both of us that we didn't enjoy the process. I generally have great relationships with my clients as is evidenced by the other 40 reviews on Houzz. Sometimes you just have to let it go and move along.

> We are very happy with our kitchen and living space renovation that Margie and Pyper planned. We had a funky 1970’s layout with quite a lot of particular asks, however, they realized our vision, were patient with us, and executed beautifully!

**Comment from Red Pepper Design & Cabinetry:**

> Thank you Kaitlyn. You and Brent have such good energy, I love working with you and look forward to seeing the results of Phase 2 that we are now working on.

**★★★★★ — Dave Baker O.D., Aug. 2020**

> I thank my lucky stars that I found Margie to design my new kitchen. I met with two other designers before I met Margie. After my first meeting with Margie, I knew she was the person I wanted to do my project. I could just sense that she had a certain artistic quality that gave me confidence she would turn out a great result and she certainly did not disappoint.
>
> Margie quickly put together a plan that included everything needed to totally renovate the kitchen - cabinets, countertops, lighting, new tile floor between sink and island and etc. She just took care of everything that was needed. I was so confident in her abilities that I agreed to do everything she suggested. There were two items that, when she presented them, I went "hmm", "really?" And I'm so glad I went along with her on them. They both turned out absolutely stunning as did the entire kitchen.
>
> Margie was very pleasant to work with and she listened to my ideas. I wish I had met her 10 years earlier... lol.

**Comment from Red Pepper Design & Cabinetry:**

> Lovely, Dave. Thank you for the wonderful review. I really enjoyed working with you!

> We used Red Pepper Design & Cabinetry to remodel the master bathroom of our historic house in Boulder. Margie and Pyper are incredibly collaborative, innovative, and professional. Our historic house presented unique challenges, such as an immovable stone wall that was discovered during the demolition. They jumped into action and quickly prepared an alternative design to work around the challenges uncovered during the demolition. If you are looking for a professional, reliable, designer who brings novel ideas to the project, I would highly recommend that you hire Red Pepper.

**★★★★★ — Fran Boler, Nov. 2019**

> We are loving our completely redesigned and renovated, wonderfully bright and stunning kitchen, and fresh, elegant master bath designed by Red Pepper. Margie was great to work with from beginning to end. She met repeatedly with us both on site and in her office to discern our needs and desires, and her focus was on guiding us in visualizing our dream and making it a reality. Her design expertise and superb finish taste were essential to a result that we will enjoy for many years to come. Thank you Margie and Pyper.

**Comment from Red Pepper Design & Cabinetry:**

> Fran, Thank you so much. It makes Pyper and I so happy that you are happy with the result of all our work together. Can't wait to take After photos and post them on Houzz.

**★★★★★ — Ellen Drury, June 2019**

> When we decided to remodel our kitchen and powder room, we began by going to Open Houses and Kitchen Tours to get some ideas. Red Pepper Design stood out for its well thought out design and unique touches, and a meeting with Margie confirmed our feeling that she would be a great match for us. Together we came up with a plan that incorporated her ideas and our wishes. She was knowledgable, professional, and fun to work with. We had not had any previous experience with remodeling, and her expertise and guidance was much appreciated. Her creative and innovative style was perfect for us. We love our new kitchen and get many compliments on it, and how well it integrates with the rest of the house!

**Comment from Red Pepper Design & Cabinetry:**

> Thank you, Ellen. I love all of the art that you have added to both rooms. It is so individual, fun and YOU.

**★★★★★ — Ric and Eva Green, May 2019**

> We had a very challenging kitchen space that needed a complete remodel. We had heard good things about Red Pepper Designs and seen one of their kitchen remodels. Margie came up with a fantastic redesign that we could never have imagined on our own. We completely gutted and redid everything in the kitchen - removed and added windows, took down walls, etc. We are thrilled with our new kitchen. It was a pleasure woking with Margie and Piper.

**★★★★★ — Delyn Drake, May 2019**

> We hired Margie McCulloch of Red Pepper Design in 2018 to design a kitchen and living area remodel for our 28 year old home which began with three small divided rooms (kitchen, dining, family room) and finished with one open, beautifully designed space.
>
> Early in the design process Red Pepper Design came to our home to get a sense of our space and personal style. We had very little experience with remodeling and Margie gave us the guidance we needed throughout the process. This included every detail from designing a beautiful layout to selecting cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tiles, lighting, appliances, etc. Margie went above and beyond in helping us find the finishes as well as accessories that fit with our own unique style and taste. We purchased our cabinets through Red Pepper Design and are very pleased with the quality and design. With Margie’s guidance we selected two different finishes providing visual contrast and interest. The install was seamless and they look great.
>
> We are very happy with our experience with Red Pepper Design. From the first planning meeting to the very last finish, the beautiful results of our new kitchen, living and dining area have exceeded our expectations and brought joy to our lives. Our new space is truly the warm and welcoming center of our home that we had hoped for from the start.
> Margie McCulloch of Red Pepper Design is professional, creative, sophisticated, knowledgeable, sensitive to clients budget and style and just plain fun to work with.
> Highly recommended!

**★★★★★ — Debra Kron, Jan. 2019**

> I had a very positive experience with Margie and Pyper from Red Pepper Design in Boulder. My kitchen renovation was quite extensive and required engineering consultations in addition to construction. Margie provided numerous recommendations for professionals and made the process seamless. I did use Red Pepper's cabinetry and have been very pleased with the choices offered and the reasonable cost. Margie and Pyper assisted with selection of everything and were very patient with questions and changes. They had very innovative solutions to design issues and made me aware of choices I didn't know existed! They worked to stay near my budget and were constantly available and responsive during the construction process with Vermilion Construction. I enthusiastically recommend Red Pepper - I am amazed by my beautiful kitchen!

**★★★★★ — Marsha Huber, Jan. 2019**

> I highly recommend ‘Award-Winning’ Margie McCulloch/Red Pepper Kitchen + Bath.
> We had the pleasure of meeting & working together a little over 3 years ago, both of us employed by the same developer,. The vision: to design, complete & sell 3 new-build, $1,650,000 contemporary town homes. Margie immediately was in her comfort zone, working as a partner with the developer to articulate and create the creative and sophisticated vision that the developer was looking for. Margie’s exquisite vision of textural materials to the most amazing finishes that have been currently used in this market, set this property apart as the ‘Contemporary Leader & Visionary’ of town homes in our area.
>
> Margie has flawless taste, making quality the number one focus in every design decision that she does, constantly researching ‘the newest, the best, the most efficient, effective and affordable’ from Green to not, her experience is reflected in the properties that she has worked on. Her eye is articulate, taking her research and applying her knowledge to every project that she does. Margie has an innate sense of ‘You,’ being able to read what you envision and having the experience, the vendors and relationships to make your vision a reality. After 25+ years of experience in the Boulder market, her reputation in our market speaks for itself.
>

 - Description: This is the third whole house project I was asked to do for this client. We were able to approach the challenges of the remodel and addition with a knowledge of each others taste and work style. Our goal was to maintain the integrity of the early 20th century home while adding a modern feel that is in keeping with the way we live, work and entertain today. The chandelier is by Ochre and is a light I found for the first house we did together. It moved quite nicely.

Countertop height was lowered around the range by 2-3", the island stools were placed at the end of the island and the pantry cabinets were made 21" deep instead of 24" making the passage way much cleaner. House colors were neutralize throughout the main floor. They previously were deep autumn tones. The result is a brighter, easier home to live in.

**Q: Where is the wood spiral light from** *(in Photo Questions)*

Wood spiral light

A: This light is from Secto Design out of Helsinki, Finland. They have name beautiful lights made of wood. Light and modern.

**Q: Cooktop exhaust question** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love this kitchen. What brand is the cooktop exhaust? It's very unobtrusive .

A: It is a Zephyr "Pisa" hood. I'm glad you like this kitchen. Thank you.

**Q: Does anyone know where the stools are from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Stools?

A: They are THE NORMAN COUNTER STOOL. They can be purchased from numerous retail outlets.

**Q: What type of wood and stain was used for the cabinets and floor?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The cabinets are made of Lyptus, a brand name of several types of Eucalyptus, and I don't know the name of the stain. I believe the floors are a natural oak, clear finish, The photo may be deceptive in coloration.

**Q: Distance between bathtub and shower** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love this bathroom and I am putting together something with a similar configuration in my master. Can you share what the minimum distance should be between the tub and the shower? My shower is currently 54" which gives me 66" for the tub. I'm considering shortening the shower to fit a 64" tub in but not sure how much I'd have to shorten...

A: There should be enough space to clean. There is no minimum requirement other than it shouldn't touch the glass. Just decide how much space you need to get a mop in there effectively.
