**Q: Floating shelves** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I would like to make floating shelves with steel brackets that can support the weight of a small microwave.  Any suggestions for this DIY projects is greatly appreciated. I've attached a photo from Houzz of exactly I'd like to achieve.

**Q: 36' hood over 30' range?** *(in Kitchens)*

I'd like to get a range hood like this to put over my 30" range:

Problem is, it has to be an island mount (not a wall mount) and most of those come in 36" width or more.
So my question is, will a 36" hood look odd over a 30" range?

A: Great Thread.  Very helpful.  I'm looking into having a custom island hood vent made.  Apparently the cost difference is negligible.
