We wanted to replace our remaining windows with the same product series and at the same quality. UR were quick to respond and came to my home for an estimate within a few days. Their quote was very reasonable and met our needs perfectly. They were also very patient when working with our HOA who were one day late in approving their proposal. UR courteously honored the original estimate to avoid wasting more time. It took about a month for the custom windows to be available after our first payment. They were strategic in applying for a city permit as it was closing in on the end of the year and to avoid us having to pay the permit fee twice, they submitted in the new year. As soon as the permit was approved, we scheduled the install within the week. 3 contractors came and took almost exactly 4 hours to install 3 first-floor windows, 3 basement block windows, and clean up. When the city inspector failed our inspection because "no one was home" despite me taking the day off of work to be there (and having heard no attempt to knock) Heather of UR took the extra initiative to contact the city and allow me to submit photos of the installations that were then approved. Apparently that exact situation had already happened more than once THAT WEEK. Anyway, the only problem we had was that the depth of one of our basement block windows wasn't fully accounted for, so while we can crack the vent, it doesn't fully open which was disappointing (because it's our cat's favorite perch). Mike, our salesman came to our house to talk over potential solutions and we ultimately decided to take a small but fair rebate. However, the rest of the windows look and work beautifully and we're excited to save some money on heating costs next winter and hopefully increase the value of our home. From the very beginning of working with Mike and his team, we were repeatedly impressed with the level of professionalism involved. Mike was extremely patient with our condo association as we worked together to make decisions. His background knowledge of the options for various windows, the building codes in our village, and the installation process was extremely helpful. Due to the fact that our building is in an historic district, getting permits for any work is a must and Mike took all dealings and negotiations on with the village as part of his role in the process. Due to other work occurring simultaneously at our building we had to reschedule installation, yet Mike was patient, professional and kind throughout every step. Originally, we worked on quoting with a handful of suppliers/installers, but UR was the most competitive when comparing apples to apples. Our sales contact (Mike Nucci) was very responsive, knowledgeable, and great to work with. Mike had advised that they hired on a very good carpenter (Andy) to work on door only projects, and they said they were excited to have such a expert on their team. This was a plus for us, since we had done some new window installations with one company who would just send different formans/crews every time. UR knew exactly who would be out doing our project and could speak to his skillset and expertise. Andy actually came out one day to do one more measurement of our doors just to be sure what we were ordering was accurate, which gave us peace of mind. UR underpromised and over-delivered on the lead time... they estimated 6-8 weeks for the doors to come in, which we understood completely going into this project. However, the doors took less than a month to come in. Andy and his crew were out there within the week we were notified the doors were ready. The install took less than a day, Andy and the crew were exteremly profossional and did a great job of cleaning up their messes. Only one snafu happened... we were under the assumption that the trim/frame on the interior of the door would be replaced and not re-used. Andy said the work order did not call for it, but we got on the phone with Heather right away and she worked out directly w/ the owner! She called me back and said there was some miscommunication/misunderstanding and that they'd get Andy back out within a week to replace the interioor trim. Which they did, and it looks great. UR handled the issue with professionalism, understanding, and w/ great urgency. In summary, the project was competitvely priced, seemless, and well executed, and the people at Ultimate were great to work with. It's always great to be able to use a local company.
