Pleasant View Construction was started in 2003 by Peter Switzer, owner and general contractor. The Switzer family has a long tradition of fine craftsmanship. In 1946, they founded the boat-making company Switzer Craft, still known today for its unparalleled performance and quality. Peter grew up admiring his father and uncle and their excellent woodworking and fiberglass designs. In 1995, Peter and his brother Tracy formed ShelterWorks. The custom workmanship that was such a large part of their childhood translated well to the production of unique fabricated fiberglass equipment shelters for telecommunications, national parks, railroads, water, wastewater, and many other sectors.

In 2003, Peter sold his stake in ShelterWorks to focus entirely on home design and building. This outlet for creativity is a true passion, and the enthusiasm shows in every project Pleasant View Construction takes on.

> Peter gave us so much time and energy into our reshaping our backyard. He cut into our hill to create a flat yard while also installing a beautiful natural looking boulder wall and landscaped too. He spent many hours sending us ideas and kept us up to date constantly on his progress. He was always very transparent and surely over-delivered in the end. He truly committed himself to our project and worked to make our backyard absolutely breath-taking. I would highly recommend Peter and Pleasant View Construction for any of your house or outside needs!

> Pleasant View Construction has helped us facilitate multiple projects for our home over the years. From geothermal heating/cooling, major electrical improvements, to landscaping and solving difficult drainage problems on the property, Peter Switzer has always been there for our family. Peter is extremely honest, hard working, and a very creative thinker. He and the team of subs he has put together are superb. We wholeheartedly recommend Pleasant View Construction!

> We contacted Peter at Pleasant View Construction to help us solve some complicated water flow issues around our home, and to replace our driveway. Because the water flow issue and driveway were interrelated, we needed to work with someone who understood the complexities and interdependencies involved, and then could design and implement a cost-effective solution.
>
> Peter addressed both issues with a fresh approach that was wonderfully designed, and through his intimate knowledge of our city, was able to get us plugged into an available program from the city to assist with the water flow issues. No other contractor offered the insights or comprehensive solution that Peter provided.
>
> As an added bonus, because Peter has such a keen sense of design, we gave him creative license to design a driveway that would be pleasing to the eye and practical. The end result is fantastic, and exceeded our expectations.
>
> Our experience with Peter is that he is creative, has an excellent eye for design and detail, and is able to get projects done that exceed expectations. We highly recommend Peter and Pleasant View Construction. They were pleasant to work with, provided great service and great value.

> We purchased our home from Peter and Cushie Switzer, Pleasant View Construction, in 2010. We set our eyes on the property and knew we couldn’t live without it. It truly is one of the most beautiful homes in all of St. Louis. The house is newer, yet built to have the look and feel of a true old English manor. Each area was given so much attention – with nothing to be missed. From the quality of the stone masonry to the hand-hewn, custom-stained walnut floors and the custom hand-forged ironwork (throughout the inside and outside of the home) to the stone fireplaces with breathtaking hearths – there was no stone left unturned or short-changed.
>
> Peter, Cushie, and their team not only crafted every inch of this masterpiece, they also meticulously landscaped the property, giving it the look and feel of an English countryside estate. We changed nothing in this home – nor do we plan on doing so! The unique structure and creativity put into our residence is something that you just cannot find anywhere. Our pool area is a sight to be seen – from a custom stone waterfall and hidden slide to a beautiful rock grotto. It leaves us with the best pool around – just ask all the kids!
>
> We have been in our home for four years, and even to this day, Peter is ALWAYS available to help us or stop by for anything that we may need, with no time wasted. I would highly recommend Pleasant View Construction and Peter’s crew – absolutely the finest!

> Our family can wholeheartedly recommend Peter Switzer and Pleasant View Construction for any project one might have. Peter literally saved our home from a terrible flooding problem. He came and completed the project in a mere 2 days and his pricing was very reasonable.
>
> When Peter sets his mind on a project, he is a man on a mission and gets the work done professionally and completely. He will still check in with us whenever there is a heavy rain to see if we are still high and dry. Not many contractors do that. We are very grateful to Peter for his thoughtfulness and generosity.
