> Steve, Kyle, Wade and their crew brought our Waterfall vision to reality! They did an amazing job! So conscientious and detailed! Thank you to all!!

> Windscapes Landscaping took us from avoiding our neglected backyard, to spending hours outside in a lush, inviting setting.
>
> Kyle and his crew worked with us to achieve a lush, low maintenance yard that fit our budget. Kyle demonstrated his knowledge as a landscaper from the first encounter by listening and responding to my concerns and wishes. He explained why some of the plants and trees I wanted were not appropriate for our zone, and drew up a plan that incorporated some of my ideas while utilizing his knowledge and experience to create a plan that fit with the Michigan climate and within my budget.
>
> The crew was fast, efficient, polite and professional. They reshaped the contour of the backyard to create focal points, added trees, bushes and plants to provide a variety of colors, shape and texture, and incorporated existing material into the new design. They gave us tips on how to best maintain the yard. They removed brush that was not part of the project, leveled our glider and checked in throughout the process to make sure we were satisfied.
>
> The Windscapes crew also cut out the rotted railroad ties that formed our stairs from the driveway to the front of the house. The ties were replaced with stone steps, making the stairs useable for the first time in a decade. I recommend Windscapes for anyone who wants to add value and usability to their home.

> Our front yard was a disaster and Windscapes turned it into a gorgeous retreat! They generated this beautiful full color computer printed design and we loved it! The tinted pattern cement patio and all the plants they chose are so beautiful. They used unique boulders and had so many great ideas we would have never thought of. It turned out so gorgeous we couldn’t believe it was our old front yard. They are priced competitively and their installers that did the work were beyond professional and timely. I will use them again in the future for sure! Fabulous company! And they even brought us a Christmas present six months later to show their gratitude.:)

> Windscapes Landscaping went above and beyond in designing and bringing to life an amazing landscape and brick paver patio for our family. At every stage of the process, from the initial designs to the post-completion follow-up, Windscapes demonstrated a level of professionalism and customer service that are unmatched in their industry.
>
> We were thoroughly impressed with the team's attention to detail and ensuring that every facet of the project was completed with the utmost quality and care. The team members were all very polite, respectful and appeared to genuinely care about making our landscape and patio the very best possible.
>
> Windscapes also recommended and coordinated with other trusted companies, which proved to be excellent as well, certain services that were needed along the way. We cannot say enough great things about the entire Windscapes team. They are phenomenal people who do phenomenal work, and we would highly recommend them.

> We have worked with the team at Windscapes Landscaping for years on many projects throughout the greater Grand Rapids area as their irrigation contractor. We have always found them to be integrity driven with a goal to meet every customers expectations. We are a small part of a larger team that gets the opportunity to work together on really great projects.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the mix of grasses!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you please ID the plantings in this photo? Love the mix of grasses and added pops of color!

A: Hi ellyn143,
The yellow grasses are Hakonechloa All Gold Grass, Purple Fountain Grass (summer annual in Michigan), and the white & green variegated is a Variegated Iris.

Thank you for the question!

**Q: what is the pink tree?** *(in Photo Questions)*

And is it good to grow in NJ?

A: Hi Chris,
Thank you for reaching out to us! The pink flowering tree is an Eastern Redbud 'Cercis canadensis', which are zoned 4-8. From a quick search, it looks like your planting zone is 6a, 6b, 7a, or 7b depending where you are located in the state.

Thanks!
Windscapes Landscaping

**Q: trailer ID** *(in Photo Questions)*

hello! whats the purple and white trailer in the pot? (not the ponyfoot)

A: Hi Nas82, all of them are annuals except the center which is an Arborvitae. The annuals are Dichondra Silver Falls, Wojo Vine, Boston Ferns, Begonia, and impatiens.

**Q: Rounded Evergreen Shrub Zone 4** *(in Shrubs)*

I am redesigning my front borders this spring/summer. At the suggestion of someone on the landscaping forum last year, I am adding an evergreen shrub with a rounded shape to place under the windows on each side of the door. The front really needed some winter interest, as well. The left side will get plenty of sun all day long. The right side is a little harder to predict. It was full, dense shade, but a tree was cut down last fall which should certainly give it more southern and eastern sun.
Any suggestions for a slow growing shrub that fits the above credentials for zone 4? As for size, I'm thinking around 4' wide x 4'-5' tall max.

A: Boxwood green gem would stay low and wide without pruning too much. You could also go with a Boxwood Green Mountain, which would get closer to the 4-5' height. If you are looking for a little bit more color, Weigela Spilled Wine or Barberry Concorde would give a nice color but stay low.

**Q: What perennials to plant in front of evergreens in Zone 4?** *(in Perennials)*

I have a chain link fence along the back of my property line, and I have a newly planted row of evergreens, including Techny Arborvitaes, Upright Yew, and Dwarf Mugo Pine in front of the fence. I would like to plant a few clusters of 2-3 perennials in front of the evergreens. What would be some good perennials to plant together in front of the evergreens in Zone 4?

A: Hi, we are located in Michigan in Zone 4. Depending on your color palette and sun exposure there are many plants you can go with. Heuchera are great sun/shade plants in a variety of colors that are fairly low plants. In more sun exposed areas you could use Salvia New dimension pink/blue, coreopsis, or even some drift roses depending on the size of the landscape bed. Echinacea always add a nice pop of color but can get tall. There is a vast variety of sedum that would be low and add some color if you want low maintenance.

**Q: Do you use a special planting soil mix for proper health of the sedum?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: We typically use a perennial bed mix then put down a slow release fertilizer to enhance the growth throughout the growing season.
