> Charles Fleming Krewson IV designed both my 6000 sq ft duplex apartment in NYC and my 20,000 sq ft villa in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Both jobs were handled with excellent taste, on budget and in a timely fashion. These expansive projects costs many millions of dollars and can be stressful. However, with frequent meetings and a collaborative effort with our architect and ourselves we had great results. We received good value and a very hands on service including great supervision each step of the way.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Help me pick a front door color!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We didn't have a lot of choices for the exterior styles of the house, we only got to pick the siding color, and we chose a medium gray. 
I was really determined on having a robin's egg blue/ Tiffany's blue door, but realized two other houses in the neighborhood have that door color already (BM Wythe blue). Even though I can still go with that color, I kind of want to have something different, so here I am. 
We're thinking maybe a soft lavender color or maybe a yellow door? What do you think? Something that makes the house inviting. The house is in a Boston suburb if that matters.

A: I think the door should be in a high gloss finish in the Parisian style using either Ben Moore's 'chrome green' or 'classic burgundy'. Be sure not to paint the garage doors white or they will stand out like an eyesore. Either match the siding color or be daring and match the shutters.

**Q: Looking for granite suggestions** *(in Design Dilemma)*

These are the cabinets we will be installing and our flooring color is similar to the one in photos. Looking for a light, flowy granite that's not too busy. Backsplash is not decided yet so flexible there as well. Thank you in advance!!

A: I would use a light green granite for the counters and also use the same slab over the sink. For the rest use stainless steel tile, green glass tile or bronze tinted mirror. The reason for slab over sink is that walls needs a rich focal point.

What kind and color of countertops did you use?

A: Certainly looks like stainless steel.

**Q: Backyard ideas** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We moved into our house about a year ago.  Looking to put in a new patio and remove existing hardwood deck..  ideas and thoughts?  We're thinking of having patio stairs come off the from the sliding door into the patio. Would love to ha e built in grill and even pizza oven but assume that is big extra bucks.. thoughts if we went with pavers. Guessing about 300 sq feet. Also additional costs for those extras.  In northern nj.  Thanks

A: Just take the railing off and build wide steps leading down to the garden. Put edging around the fire pit gravel so it doesn't get into the grass. When you have extra $ build a BBQ/Pizza Oven combo cooking area.

**Q: Small Master bath needs wall color!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Reno nearing completion.  Gray/beige tile (American Olean Castlegate Beige in shower & Castlegate gray on bathroom floor.) Small room with narrow horizontal shuttered windows & LED vanity lighting. Think SW accessible beige, realist beige, pediment, maybe modern gray for similar colors. But adding that on the walls feels like I would be drowning in beige. Is there a lighter shade, maybe a shade of white with enough color to contrast with white trim & not have yellow, pink or peachy undertones? Got to get this painted before trim & plumber!

A: No you have good design bones, and looking at the other pictures looks like you have a nice strong color in the room next to the bath.  Real color will make you happy in the room,

**Q: What color would you suggest painting the garage door, and should the** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The front is a light brick facing, double garage door ....currently garage door is a muddy brown, front door and shutters are dark brown....

A: I think you should pick a shade of gray for the garage door and shutters and that will help tie in the roof. Then do your favorite color for the front door. The front door should always have drama. Make sure you get the door as glossy as possible (do a few coats).
