**★★★★ — Neal Meagher, March 2019**

> We worked with Katie on a multi-year renovation project of our new condo which was suffering from the developer white paint blues. She was very patient in spending time with us including multiple visits to designer showrooms to consider furnishings, wall treatments and fabric choices.
>
> Best of all, Katie is very good at lighting design as we needed more dramatic lighting in our place as well. She guided us through the byzantine process of obtaining building permits in San Francisco which was eased by her very professional set of construction plans.
>
> Katie is also very responsive to the needs of her clients. Literally within an hour or two at most she would respond back to us with any questions or concerns. When you are dealing with something as potentially stressful as home renovation that is comforting.

> I am a general building contractor who has worked with Katie on several projects over the last few years.
> Specifically on a remodel of a kitchen and two bathrooms in the Marina district of SF she was superb to work with. First of all she delivered a great design with very clean and easy to read plans, then as happens during construction any time there was a challenge she was available to discuss and would come up with very reasonable ways to solve the challenge. Katie always responds quickly to the Contractor helping keep the project on time and budget. I can definitely recommend her.

**★★★★★ — Brad Kern, March 2019**

> Katie is hard working, knowledgable, patient, has a great eye for design, and will add value to any project. My home remodel would never have turned out as nice without Katie. Highly recommend her.

**★★★★★ — Moondance Painting, Feb. 2017**

> Katie has an amazing ability to transform a space that initially drains you of all energy, into a vibrant, enjoyable and useful space; Simply by changing the lighting and adding a little bit of color. She is so easy to work with, her suggestions are always well thought out and easy to understand.

> Katie Anderson has been a great help to me and my mother. Mom was having a lot of difficulty moving around up and down the stairs. Her arthritis and worn-out knee-cartilage were at their worst. To give her some relief and continued use of her home, Katie helped us make plans to bypass all the stairs. We reorganized appliances and added a ramp. She took really good care of mom.
>
> It’s not the first time I hire Katie. The year before she helped me design, choose a contractor, and managed construction of a trellis – to create a shaded area over the parking area for my folk’s to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. They’ve been loving it and always ask about Katie.

> Working with Katie is a pleasure, she's easy going yet gets the task on hand done efficiently.
> She's also an award winning designer for design excellence by ASID, I know that because I was there to witness her winning the first place.
> I wouldn't hesitate to contact for any interior design needs I may have.

**★★★★★ — Jody Thompson, Oct. 2013**

> Katie is wonderful to work with. She made our Tiburon condo renovation an easy and seamless process. From getting estimates through to completion, she was professional, smart and competent. Katie has great design sense and knows the resources to guide a client to making good choices. We especially like that she supervised the project directly with the contractor so that we were not burdened with every detail. Overall a great experience.

**★★★★★ — 5alvarado, April 2013**

> Katie has a beautiful way of exploring and reflecting back her client's tastes in a manner that creates optionality and expressiveness that feels right for the client. Working with her is not about her imposing the latest trends or her preferred style, but rather helping co-create new spaces that stand the test of time. I greatly enjoyed working with Katie and I look forward to working with her on more projects in the future.

**★★★★★ — taylormade1225, April 2013**

> Once again Katie Anderson's design acumen has been flawless! Katie has worked and reworked my homes for more than 15 years. Whether it's my coziest of condos or my latest space, a four-bedroom fixer-upper, Katie continues to transform my world.
>
> Who would have thought that knocking down a (not so) strategically placed wall in the center of my house, would transform the entire front common-living space into a modern marvel. My home went from mid-sixties blah to a hip, free-flowing uber-cool place to entertain. Katie's master design speaks volumes with casual living space flowing into a state of the art kitchen with custom lighting throughout the house that I can't stop admiring. My house is full of energy, life and color, color, color!
> Thanks, Katie for years of contagious enthusiasm.
>
> Looking forward to our next major project, the master bedroom addition!

> Two thumbs up for Katie Anderson!
>
> Her design expertise and advice were absolutely invaluable during our kitchen remodel, proving once again that hiring a qualified designer is a smart investment when it comes to tackling any home improvement project. Katie guided us though the entire process and helped us achieve exactly what we had envisioned.
>
> Thank you Katie! My husband and I couldn't be happier!

Whether it's for a rental or your own personal residence these photos show her ability to turn some of the smaller older spaces of San Francisco into a bright and open home. ## Community Q&A

**Q: Where did you find the vanity?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I have a long narrow bathroom and finding a new vanity is proving to be difficult. The vanity in this photo is beautiful.

A: Hello Hu and thanks for the question. I don't work with off the shelf products. All of my remodels have custom made cabinetry. The reason for this is because of the exact same problem you are having, there is no one size fits all in any home or business. I design each and everyone and send to a cabinet maker. As an aside tip, never shop by price first, only shop for quality and figure out your pricing later on. The cheapest when it comes to cabinetry is never worth it, go for quality. I hope this helps you and best wishes on your remodel. Post pics. when you have them, I'd love to see how it turned out.

**Q: Egads..I need Garanimals! Would love input on my Family Room..Large** *(in Home Decorating)*

I have purchased some furniture...painted the room....after setting it up, Im left with a blank wall.

I like the two chairs flanking the fireplace, plan to add a area rug, Im just stumped on what to do with this main wall...

Thinking a console table of some sort, just wondering if there are any other options...

I need to put color into the room, added throw pillows (not pictured). Have my eye on Art, .....

I should add that the decor are things that I have already in my home, just trying out some idea.....

A: I can see from one of the photos that the "empty" wall gets a lot of direct sunlight during the day. With that in mind make sure that whatever large piece of art (and I do recommend a large piece of art that you love) is in a medium that is resistant to UV rays. Oil mostly. Nothing water color, or has a matt frame of silk. Silk rots in the sun. You can also frame the piece with a UV resistant cover but it is best that the medium is not effected by the sunlight to begin with. This goes for tapestries as well. Hope this helps.

**Q: Is my coffee table too small?** *(in Home Decorating)*

We just purchased this new couch, chair, rug and coffee table. I ordered the table before I knew that it should be 2/3 the length of the couch. It’s about 1/2 the length but I really love it and I don’t want to pay to ship it back. I‘m planning to buy a small white marble side table to place next to the chair. Should I add a round ottoman as well to compensate for the small coffee table or just buy a bigger table (I really don’t want to do that!) Help!

A: I am sorry but I don't see your photos here. After posting them I have no idea why they are not showing up. Are they within the required size for this site? I would contact Houzz if this continues. Looking forward to seeing them though so I can help you out.

**Q: Wall to wall in bedrooms?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I recently bought an older two storey house that has older strip hardwood floors. Wondering if it would be a mistake to do wall-to-wall in upstairs bedrooms to soften the look.

A: I agree with the previous comments. Use area rugs instead for warmth and a softer look.

**Q: Change out pendant or no?** *(in Polls)*

When working on our lighting, our pendant was centered over the island ... but we later
made changes to the island, which left the pendant off center. I thought swagging it would work, since we’re a 100yr old home. But I’m thinking it’s not working. I’m dreading spending the money to tear up the ceiling again to center the light over the island properly. Should it stay, or go?

A: After seeing the photo (thank you), I recommend moving it to center. It is not a big nor expensive job to do this, easy peasy and done in a day. There may have also been a reason that they did not center in the first place such as a joist running through the center spot. Ask your installer.

**Q: would like an rain over head shower and vessel faucet to match** *(in Design Dilemma)*

over head shower and vessel faucets to go with the Florence style

A: I would love to guide you however, it would be helpful if you had a photo of your shower area and the specific product you are considering. Without the images it is difficult to say what may work best. One thing I can tell you to consider is that all rain head showers drip for a bit of time after using the shower. It is not a leak, just water accumulated in the rain head, they are flat and not at an angle to empty right away.
