**★★★★★ — Claudia Seabra, Dec. 2025**

> We hired Cadaxx Design for our second floor addition and main floor redesign, and they were incredible to work with. So patient, so creative, and full of great ideas we never would’ve considered. Our exterior design is stunning, and the interior works beautifully now. We highly recommend!

**★★★★★ — HU-95916968, Sept. 2025**

> This team is the best, Alex has been my number one go to for design and build for 15 yrs and over 30 construction projects. He has had a significant positive impact on my business and helped so many of my clients achieve their goals. Thanks Cadaxx!!

**Comment from Cadaxx Design:**

> Thank you very much. Hope for more projects together in the future

**★★★★★ — Sandra T., Aug. 2025**

> I engaged Caddex to help me plan my major home renovation. I had a vision, and Alex and his team helped bring it to life. They handled the committee of adjustment process for me and prepared the package for approval. The review committee commented on how well the package was put together and approved it with no changes. They also managed the permit approval process and connected me with a structural engineer to assist with the specific drawings needed. I highly recommend Alex and his team!

**Comment from Cadaxx Design:**

> Thank you Sandra! it was a pleasure to work with you!

**★★★★★ — Arvin Lagustan, Feb. 2022**

> Working with Alex and the Cadaxx team was a great experience. Their use of technology to scan our house to record as-built conditions for the permit set was very efficient and accurate. As an added value item, they provided a rendered 3D model walkthrough of our proposed renovations which helped visualize the space and a capture the design intent. Overall, the permit process was pretty smooth as minimal comments came back from the Building Permit Planning Office as the permit set Cadaxx submitted was complete and OBC compliant.

**★★★★★ — Laszlo Szentmiklosi, Jan. 2022**

> Detailed and professional approach. We have discussed our project, Cadaxx has taken the measurements, coordinated the plans with the other professionals (i.e. structural engineer), provided us with the plans on time, and handled the permitting process with the City. Great experience!

**★★★★★ — HU-231024764, Jan. 2022**

> We had a very positive experience dealing with Alex and the Cadaxx team. He prepared the architectural drawings and also facilitated securing the appropriate building permit. Throughout the process, Alex provided timely updates on the project status and next steps. When we received follow-up questions from the City re the building permit application, Alex and team addressed the open issues and resolved them promptly. We would definitely work with Alex and the Cadaxx team in the future.

**★★★★★ — goldenature, Jan. 2021**

> We had a very positive experience with Cadaxx Design and particularly with their designer Sarah. She provided all the details for us, recommended the contractor that we liked a lot and followed up on every step along the process. Despite popular believe that building drawings, permits and the whole process takes long time our balcony was finished much faster than we expected.

**★★★★★ — KEVIN TSANG, Feb. 2019**

> Alex and his team prepared engineering drawings of our house for a basement underpinning project. They were professional, punctual, and the drawings were done quickly and they got us the permits needed for the work to begin in a very short period of time.

**Comment from Cadaxx Design:**

> Thank you Kevin! We appreciate the positive review! It was a pleasure working with you.

**★★★★★ — Linda Corbett, May 2018**

> The Cadaax team is a valuable asset providing us with professional, responsive and reliable service through all stages of our projects.

**★★★★★ — Patrick Xiong, Jan. 2018**

> We have asked for quote and consultation with a couple of architect design company to remodel our bungalow from bottom to top. Finally, we chose Cadaxx Design with Alex Axelrod because of his instant response, knowledge and reasonable price. We are also very impressed with the transparent and straight communication of the payment by website online. We have made some back and forth change of the design and even after the 1st pan has been approved by the city. He has shown great patience and accommodated the change under the restriction of small space of the bungalow. Finally, we have our dream plan approved with 4 Bedroom/4 washrooms all with showers:) We are very satisfied with Alex's job and his office staff as well such as Stacie who has assisted us lot on the smooth communications for HVAC plan design and permit process. would like to recommend Cadaxx to my friends.

**★★★★★ — toronto1550, Sept. 2016**

> Cadaxx and Alex helped me with the design for an extension on my home. They prepared drawings that went through the building department at the city without problems. Most importantly, they were really creative with the use of space and land, really flexible with design changes. I was thoroughly impressed and have confidence in them. I found them affordable as well. I elected not to proceed with any work, but if I had, I would have used the plan and drawings Cadaxx gave me. I was amazed at their innovation, creativity and use of space.

**★★★★★ — Timmeh Rees, May 2016**

> Alex and his team at Cadaxx Design were very helpful and quick with all of their services. I have used them for several projects including renovations and new builds. I would highly recommend them to anyone that is looking for a cost effective architect that cares and is eager to help.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Curb Appeal Help Needed for 1960's Ranch** *(in Before & After)*

A: Love the house! I think painting the siding a warmer color or adding darker trim would give it a more modern feel.

**Q: How to eliminate a basement window?** *(in Basements)*

This window blew out from a 10” rain & flooded basement. Please advise on eliminating the window? Thankyou!

A: Val,
To eliminate the window and prevent future flooding, you will need to:

Remove the old window and frame.
Waterproof the exterior by filling the opening with concrete or masonry and applying a waterproof membrane.
Insulate and finish the interior to match your existing wall.

Important: Due to the risk of structural damage and potential building code violations (especially related to egress windows), it is highly recommended that you hire a professional contractor for this job.

**Q: What color would you do the exterior doors?** *(in Paint)*

My home will be painted at the end of the month and I am finalizing colors. The main siding will be Indigo Batik SW and the Trim/Fascia will be City Loft SW. What would you do with the front door, side door and garage doors? The porch will be replaced with a dark brown set of widened stairs. Remove the shutters and leave them off?

A: My suggestions
Front and Side Doors

A deep, warm white: Try Snowbound SW or Pure White SW for a crisp, classic contrast.
A rich green or teal: A deep green like Rookwood Sash Green SW or a teal adds a sophisticated, cool-toned touch.
A bold red: A deep, rich red like Fired Brick SW would create a classic, welcoming statement.

Garage Doors

Match the trim: The simplest and most cohesive option is to paint the garage doors the same color as your trim, City Loft SW. This will make the garage recede and allow the main body color to stand out.
A shade darker: If you don't want an exact match, a soft greige like Dovetail SW would blend well without becoming a focal point.

**Q: Efficient Pantry Layout** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are currently building our home and I have a smaller walk in pantry. I want to make my pantry as efficient as possible. Does anyone have any ideas on a layout for this pantry? i.e. shelf heights, cabinets...

A: first, I'd move the door to one side so you can maximize the space on the opposite side; consider a sliding or pocket door?.
See some photos for ideas on how to put shelves in. Hope this helps!

**Q: Is this ottoman to big for this space?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I absolutely loved this ottoman when I saw it in the store but it seems to big for the space.
The 3 of us have 700 sq ft total house space - our daugter is 20 months old.
How does everyone feel about this?

A: it's quite large, but I'm not sure that's the issue. I think the style of it doesn't match the couch. Maybe find an ottoman with the same colour but a different pattern, or different colours but same pattern ( or even different pattern and colour)? I'd do maybe a coffee colour (but then I'd change the pillows--or match the ottoman to the pillows). Hope this helps

**Q: Kitchen Island at an Angle?** *(in Remodeling)*

Sketching out our new kitchen plan, I naturally put the new Island (currently there is a peninsula) at a right angle. Then my husband said, 'Why not put it at a 45?' and while at first that sounded too strange, it does seem like it creates a nicer flow of space both in the kitchen and the surrounding living and dining areas. The two layout options are below. Has anyone done an island like this? Pictures please if so!
For context: our home is a midcentury tract home in the atomic ranch influence. The kitchen is in the back corner of an open living/dining/kitchen room. We would be using the island for serving, and overflow prep space (no bar stools).

A: I would not put it at an angle, having a large rectangular island that is parallel with the kitchen works better for flow and space.
