The finished product turned out great but its the behind the scenes experience that was unsatisfactory thus the three stars. > Job was overpriced by comparison but we like to think you get what you pay for and Cedarbrook had lots of great reviews and seemed like a quality group but the high price did not come with good back service. It took longer than expected but that comes with the territory. Punch list included lots of leaks in the porch roof and after many return visits and gutter alterations the water coming in staining the ceiling and bulk head where fixed. > Recently ( 11 years after install ) we've had issued with the steps off of the back porch. Deck boards and fascia boards coming loose. We called Mike and he came out to take a look. Most of the pressure treated joists used are completely water damaged. He explained it was partly due to the way Cedarbrook constructed it ( which they have since changed ) and that there is a warranty that can be used for the wood they sourced. > Cedarbrook wanted a very high price to do the repairs ( compared to the other estimates we have obtained ) and told us that we had to handle all aspects of the warranty ourselves. Mike, the owner, did come out to meet with you to go over your project/product and as you stated he did want you to reach out to the wood manufacturer. When it comes to product warranty claims, the warranty is registered under the customer's name once installed since ownership of the product/material now belongs to you. We also understand that we might not always "get it right" and would have greatly appreciated the opportunity to further assist you before the situation left you feeling so poorly. Materials were delivered on time and we were very satisfied with the initial quality....we hope that proves to be the case long term and we feel pretty optimistic that the vendor recommended by Cedarbrook will be top notch. The craftsmanship of the actual deck build was excellent and the guys took great pride in their work. > > The patio project required a substantial amount of excavation. The crew was onsite for about a week and took great care when working under and around the new deck. The hardscape project included two capped retaining walls, a 25' x 12' patio, paver walkway, natural stone steppers, river stone under the deck and around the steppers and a capped sitting wall. The crew worked incredibly hard to meet our expectations and in the end we were very happy with their work. > > Mike came back at the end of the project to perform a quality check.
