Peters Design-Build is a family owned business specializing in sustainable and energy efficient design and construction. As specialists in single-family dwelling remodel projects, our team has experience in all building phases, including site and foundation work, design, engineering, retaining walls, engineered steel framing, complete building envelope and systems (electric, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC), interior design, and architectural-grade finishes.

We strive to integrate design and construction to achieve quality craftsmanship, and are pleased to stand behind all of our jobs. We provide custom tailored service to our clients, building one-of-a-kind projects one-at-a-time. Our past projects include green jobs utilizing passive solar design to provide heat and reduce energy consumption, high-tech jobs with utility upgrades, engineered steel, and structural wiring. Since we are a small business with low overhead, we are able to maintain a competitive edge, tailoring our approach to the goals our clients define.

Peters Design-Build is licensed, bonded, and carry a Primary Contractor’s General Liability insurance policy. Our network of architects, engineers, and subcontractors also maintain proper licensing and insurance. All workers are protected by workers compensation.

We were looking for a design-build firm that had the highest standards for quality and design, and a team that we would enjoy working with for several years. Andrew, Ben, Michael, James, John and the entire PDB team were an outstanding team. With their expertise as our guide, we were able to achieve our goal of transforming our 1930s home into a space that could accommodate our growing family, while retaining its historic charm and details. Our renovation included redoing our kitchen, upstairs bathroom, bedrooms, and converting our garage into a 3rd bedroom, 2nd bathroom, a new family room, and full landscaping of our backyard. We are thrilled with the outcome and recommend PDB with the utmost enthusiasm!

From day one on our backyard renovation they were responsive, trustworthy, transparent, professional and efficient. They understand what it takes to work in residential construction in San Francisco, and were able to design and build our deck and retaining wall WITH a permit and passed inspection with flying colors.  I literally can't say enough about Andrew, Michael, James, John and the entire team.

> We worked with Peters Design-Build on the remodeling of an old San Francisco home: open up the floor by removing multiple walls and a brick chimney, move the bathroom from one side of the house to another, and install a completely new heating system. Everything under a tight budget.

> First they are very professional and very pleasant to work with. Before starting any work they spend a lot of time designing and discussing with us what we exactly wanted and detailing the budget. They are very good at staying on budget and they always gave us good advice on what was possible and what was not. The whole process was very transparent from how the money was spent.

> Peters Design Build did a beautiful remodel of our three-story, three-unit traditional San Francisco property. The final design retained the original Edwardian lines, but with all the modern amenities (like, you know, lots of wall outlets and modern appliances).

Some contractors seem like they do good work, but don't know how to run a business. Ben and Andrew do both. Do you have the name of the blue paint color used?

A: Hi Kate, my recollection is that it was Benjamin Moore Pike's Peak Grey but I'll have to double check our records and get back to you.
