Work commenced in the first week of June. > The signed contract specified that the final payment was due upon the completion of the countertop installation. However, during the project, "Kitchen Man" representatives demanded all payments be made before the countertop installation could proceed, directly contradicting the contract terms. This change in terms and receipt of full payment marked a significant downturn in the project's progress and the contractor's responsiveness. > Immediately after the payment demand, I contacted Chris, the owner, to address these concerns and the stalled progress, but these attempts proved unsuccessful. Furthermore, a proposed modification (by the project manager Jackie) to add a small countertop piece behind the stove to accommodate an electrical box, has been left unaddressed. > Despite numerous calls and visits to the office, the kitchen remains unfinished, lacking the promised restrictor clips for the cabinet doors and said piece behind stove easily gotten from cutout of sink. The workmanship itself has also been a disappointment, with significant gaps visible in risers, crown molding corners, and corner round molding throughout the kitchen. Daily cleanup has frequently fallen to me. > As of August 22, 2025, the kitchen is still not completed, and all communication from " The Kitchen Man" has ceased. Chris came to our house shortly after our call to estimate the job. He almost immediately knew the name of the granite piece to match our back counter, which was remaining the same. I wasn't sure if it really did match so we went to his supplier in Myrtle Beach, where the folks there were also very helpful in helping us to decide which was our match, we also texted and sent pictures back and forth along with emails. Excellent communication with him and also his supplier. He came out on a Wednesday and tore out the counter and on Friday came back to finish the job with his electrical and plumbing contractors.
