There were days I couldn't be home when he was working and I absolutely trusted him to be there. He removed a picture window and replaced it with a sliding glass door and the trim work he did is beautiful. He also added a “ceiling” to the underside of our deck so we could enjoy it from the first floor. A year later when we added a pool to our yard he built a matching deck and once again he didn’t disappoint. He was professional and patient. His work was incredible and his prices fair. We never doubted when Mike took a job that he would get it done efficiently, effectively, and with the care of a craftsman. When we pulled off our vinyl siding to reveal wide cedar clapboard in various states of condition, Mike tackled the job of repairing and replacing the cedar siding, including prepping, priming, and painting those areas needed it. The house looks great! > Mike also put in a new egress from our dining room to our back yard. Mike constructed a small wooden landing, stairs, and railing as part of this project. Understanding our aesthetic and staying true to the essence of the house, Mike custom-built a beautiful door made from reclaimed wood. His creativity and skill also showed in his willingness to try and maximize our limited exterior storage by developing areas under our house that could be accessed by cleverly hinged panels. He stabilized the back part of our house and the front porch where metal posts had rotted away. > We always knew that people Mike recommended, like electrician and plumbers, would work out well, and in the rare case they didn’t, Mike wouldn’t rest until he found an appropriate replacement. For example, when a painter Mike recommended to us became overwhelmed by the pandemic and couldn’t finish the job, Mike drove around stopping to talk to other painters until he found one that could get the job done. To be clear, Mike recommended them, but we hired the painter. Still Mike felt that ownership and obligation to the project to find us someone to finish the job. This is an example of the integrity and care Mike puts into the jobs he takes. > Our favorite project Mike worked on for us was when he restored our front porch, which had been enclosed, back to an open porch like when the house was originally built. He did all the demolition work, and constructed cedar sided support columns, cedar railings, and a beautiful set of wide cedar steps from the walkway to porch. He shored up the porch supports and replaced the porch floor planks where needed, patching them in and painting them to match. He worked with us to design and build a new custom-built wooden front door. It is beautiful! Everyday when we step onto that porch and enter that door, our family is filled with joy thanks to the work that Mike did. He truly helped uncover the true character of our historic home. > We were about to hire Mike to remodel our kitchen before he moved.
