> Dakota's work is incredible. He has an amazing eye, and we are thrilled with the results. He is a true artisan and a pleasure to work with. He helped us immensely with a lot of the details on our kitchen. Can't say enough great things!

**★★★★★ — DISC Interiors, Aug. 2013**

> I am an interior designer in los angeles and worked with chad and dakota of td\[s\] on two residential interior design projects as well as a custom piece of furniture for clients in west los angeles and the los feliz hills.
>
> The project in los feliz was for a complete remodel of the kitchen and laundry room. The original layouts were kept intact however we had all new custom cabinets made by td\[s\] as well as some additional features like white oak interior decorative details for displaying decorative ceramics in the upper glass cabinets. We also specified a 3" white oak butcher block countertop for the island, this is one of the highlights of the room.
>
> The project we worked on together in west los angeles was for a large wall (about 18ft ) of built-ins for a small house that had limited storage. We had designed and built a full size armoire as well as a media center and a bank of bookshelves. The painted cabinetry was finished off with a white oak countertop.
>
> The clients from both properties were extremely happy with the quality, construction and finishings of their built in cabinetry. Chad and Dakota had very thoughtful ideas on how to solve some tough issues we can across during the design process and in installation. Chad and Dakota excel at finishes and are very knowledgable about wood species and materials.
>
> They work well with both interior designers and private homeowners. If you are looking for custom furniture or cabinetry, I highly recommend checking them out.

> I have worked with Chad and Dakota of td\[s\] for many of my design projects, hiring them for both custom cabinetry and custom furniture. They are a pleasure to work with and they always deliver an end result that was better than what my vision was on paper. Very professional guys who really “get-it” and they get the job done beautifully.
> They are a great resource for both Interior Designers and for private homeowners.
>
> Can’t say enough good things.

> Our company has had the pleasure of working with To Do Something for over ten years. With every unique commission, we have been most impressed with the companies professionalism, uncompromising excellent quality, and an especially refined eye to detail. We feel very fortunate to be able to call upon To Do Something for our discriminating clientele.

> Chad and Dakota are incredibly talented and professional. I was proud to give them an exhibition of their furniture designs at my gallery in 2010 and to give them several referrals for custom work. They run a tight shop with all of the equipment and staffing they need to the job done right. I like to say that todosomething can do anything!

  - Description: This project is a second home for a family of horse lovers in Rancho Santa Fe. The aim was to develop a remodel plan that modernized an otherwise typical gated ranch community home. We sourced very rare quartered black walnut flitch veneer in order to produce millwork in which grain could continue uninterrupted from floor to ceiling, and at the same time remain very harmonious and consistent throughout every space in the home. The island is a custom design and fabrication done in collaboration w…

  - Description: The design of these cabinets was modeled directly off of existing woodwork in the dining room that is thought to be original to the house. Each moulding was copied and reproduced, and we maintained the proportions of rail and stile on doors and face frames. The dining room is stained wood, while we updated the kitchen by going with a painted finish.

  - Description: Our customer had very specific ideas about scale and proportion, but needed help with material and finish. This twist on a Parsons table design suited their needs perfectly. With a "living finish" of oil and wax, they can allow their table to patina naturally with use, and refresh the finish as they see fit= instant classic.

## Community Q&A

**Q: I love your work...can you tell the budget for this kitchen?** *(in Photo Questions)*

This is about the size of our kitchen and exactly the kind of cabinetry we're looking for. (concrete counter instead of marble tho)

A: Hello,
Thank you for contacting us. There are many variables to each design and installation that affect the price one way or the other. If you would like to give us a call, we could have a conversation about your specific project and its details, then come up with a window of cost.
Please give us a call. 323 604 0404.
Thank you.
Dakota

**Q: Stain** *(in Photo Questions)*

What finish and stain did you use on these beautiful walnut cabinets? I am choosing walnut cabinets for my home and trying to tease out how cabinetmakers arrive at such a beautiful golden finish with a brown toned walnut. Thank you.

A: Susan, apologies for the delayed reply. There is no stain on the referenced cabinet. It is solid black walnut with a tung oil varnish, hand rubbed. It's a natural looking and feeling finish for walnut. Best to you.

**Q: Beautiful cabinets, what is the color name and maker?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The paint color is from the Ben. Moore deck, Verdigris, but we have it mixed in our cabinet finishes. For this kitchen we used Milk Paint from General Finishes. It's not actually a Milk Paint, it is 100% acrylic, but it looks very similar.
The cabinetry is by td\[s\].
Please give us a call if you would like to discuss a project.

**Q: Are the cabinets custom?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the compact design and maximal use of space.

A: Indeed the cabinets are very custom. Every stitch. That is what we do here at td\[s\]. Let us know if we may help you.

**Q: Please, who is the cabinet maker?** *(in Photo Questions)*

So glad I found your site - just LOVE this kitchen. I'm in LA and these are what I'm looking for. Who is the cabinet maker, please?

A: Hello. We are the cabinetmakers and designers, Todosomething, Inc.
Thank you for the interest. Please contact us if you Would like to discuss a project.
323 604 0404 .

**Q: What aRe the countertops?** *(in Photo Questions)*
