Was sold on the claim that “skilled contractors” had worked with Legal Eagle for decades and that the project would be a quick three-month turnaround. The contractors were neither skilled nor did they have any longevity with Legal Eagles, as they were subcontractors whose work product was shoddy and in need of later repair. Several of the subs were fired by Legal Eagle during or just after our renovation. The project supervisor (Enrique Sifientes) had never managed a renovation prior to ours and was fired by Dan Bawden (Legal Eagle) after our train wreck of a renovation. Of course, this did little to redress our failed renovation, which actually took 14 months and was not finished, as Legal Eagle Contractors abandoned the project. This occurred because I foolishly paid ever invoice when the work started, so walking off the job did not result in any money being lost to Legal Eagle. Maybe Legal Eagles was top notch once but the bloom is way off the rose. We lived in our home during the remodel and blocked off the back part of the house. Sadly, I came home on more than one occasion and workers had pushed through the barricade and wandered into bedrooms. Yes, things went missing. This was a 6-figure remodel. Legal Eagle was also creative with the accounting and would start facets of the remodel, get paid in full for that segment but then stop. When we complained we were warned that Legal Eagles could walk off the remodel and that Legal Eagle had other projects going and financially it did not make sense to send whole crews to knock out our remodel (as we already paid too much and flipped the job). If you still wish to do business with Legal Eagle I would suggest you write into the contract a completion date and specific provisions about who is doing what work and qualifications. Adam P. For the projects I planned, Legal Eagle Contractors was recommended by a trade organization. Dan Bawden came to the initial walkthrough well prepared, bringing lists of prior customer references, suppliers he recommended, issues I may encounter and how they'd be addressed, and warranties. During the walkthrough, he asked questions, listened to me, made suggestions about new products and ADA retrofit for aging-in-place possibilities. The final projects included major remodeling of the kitchen, master bath, and office, and all house flooring being replaced. The Project Manager kept me abreast of the daily/weekly work schedule, the Designer gave me her recommendations when asked, and minor warranty issues were addressed quickly. The trades people used were competent, friendly and courteous. I cannot recommend Legal Eagle Contractors highly enough. A: Our cabinet guys built these in their shop and we finished them onsite! Thank you for asking! **Q: French door refrigerator next to wall.** *(in Photo Questions)* Are you able to fully open the left refrigerator door? How far beyond the refrigerator cabinet does the wall extend? A: Yes - the door opens a little beyond 90 degrees but the usual swing is shortened for sure. Wall extends about 16" including wall behind the doorway casing molding. I hope that helps! **Q: Kitchen Remodel Something Looks Off** *(in Design Dilemma)* The tall cabinetry to the left and right is pantry space. 3” molding will be installed above the cabinetry. The center storage below the granite will be wine racks. A glass subway tile back splash will be added behind the shelves. The shelves have been permanently installed before the backsplash. (I don’t understand why) My issue is the shelving area, something doesn’t look right. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! TIA A: Too late to fix this now, but the problem is the thickness of the shelves is out of scale for the space they are placed in, so they look "heavy". They should be about 1.5" thick, at most. I like the contracting color. A nice detail would have been to lay ribbon LEDs in shallow grooves routed in to the back of each shelf 3"- 4" from the back wall. This will light the walls between shelves, and highlight the deco items placed on those shelves. **Q: What’s with the door in the door?** *(in Photo Questions)* We met you some years ago before we built our home. We have a mutual friend in the family law business. A: The 2nd door conceals tub accessories at the bottom (hence the breathable screen), and a fold-down ironing board above. Handy for a 'quick press' when dressing in the master bedroom. **Q: What is the flowery wall made of?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Go for it, Sheila! I can tell you more about how to install and waterproof it when you get to that stage. **Q: Where can I purchase this sink?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: I believe my homeowner bought it here https://directsinks.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=stone+oval+vessel but it looks like it is now out of stock.
