### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Matt & Laura, April 2023**

> Diane is very enthusiastic, approachable, and full of great ideas/advice. She was willing to work within our budget and ensured that the final outcome of the renovation was EXACTLY what were hoping for. She was able to troubleshoot some mild supplier hiccups along the way to our satisfaction. We are very thankful for her vision, responsiveness, and advocacy. This is the first renovation we have ever done and it went smoother than we expected/hoped.

**★★★★★ — HU-64165766, Dec. 2022**

> From start to finish, Diane was so professional, creative, inspirational and always prompt to respond to any questions and/or concerns. Previous to meeting Diane, we had spent months looking for ‘just the right’ vinyl plank flooring, with no luck. Fortunately, we were referred to Diane, who very quickly sourced what has turned out to be ‘the perfect’ flooring. Also, her eye for paint colours is like no other! We were looking for a transformation to very modern (beachy) colours, with lots of white paint, soft pewter cabinets etc. She arranged for a painting company to do all the painting, and they even re-painted several mirror frames as well as stair railings & bannisters. Very reliable painting company, always on time, and on task for follow-up touch-ups. Wow! Thank you Diane, you have transformed our home from dark colours into one that is modern, bright, and so beautiful! We can’t thank you enough!

**Comment from SunHouse Designs:**

> Thank you for your kind words! It was great working with you, and this was such a satisfying transformation. I'm glad I could help.

**★★★★★ — Elaine, Nov. 2022**

> I am so pleased with my new spa bathroom! Diane had great recommendations and ideas on how to accomplish the vision of what I was hoping to achieve. Diane had suggestions for locally sourced products and recommendations for contractors and local BC companies that I preferred to support. The end result is a wonderful relaxing oasis! Thanks again Diane!

**Comment from SunHouse Designs:**

> Thanks, Elaine! I really enjoyed working on this project with you.

**★★★★★ — Deborah Graham, Nov. 2021**

> Diane was very professional and a pleasure to work with in our renovation of our main floor and update of our furniture.
> She took time to understand our decorating style and gave us excellent options. She provided invaluable experience on the process, and necessary timing for ordering appliances, furniture, cabinets and materials. She gave great attention to details and kept us well informed on the progress. She initially provided itemized budget estimates which proved to be very accurate. Diane made our renovation a fun, positive experience.

**Comment from SunHouse Designs:**

> Thanks so much! It was wonderful working with you both, and was such a satisfying project. I'm glad you're happy with your "new" home!

**★★★★★ — helga klassen, Dec. 2020**

> We highly recommend Diane! She not only had great design ideas but was able to educate us on the "how and why" of some design choices. She was friendly, punctual, and respectful of our budget. She also took the time to listen to us and come up with design ideas in keeping with our vision of a practical (yet beautiful) family home. Thanks, Diane!!

**★★★★★ — Rita Dhahan, Dec. 2020**

> We built a new house that was completed in 2020! We got to know Diane as she was the designer for the kitchen, bathroom, and office cabinets we were having made by Nickel’s Cabinets. She was professional, skilled, easy to discuss anything with, always available to solve any dilemma that arose, and creative.
> She loves what she does and offers ideas quickly and is willing to take in more work if needed or wanted. We soon handed Diane many different aspects of our home that needed doing ... finding stone for our fireplace, helping figure out wood beams and millwork design, choosing tiles, wallpaper, paint colours, lighting and flooring.
> We really enjoyed working with her and she made the challenging work of building a house much easier because she took charge if we wanted/needed her to. We don’t hesitate to highly recommend her and will call upon her again!!

**★★★★★ — Shannon McCarvill, June 2020**

> We loved working with Diane! Her incredible eye for detail, creative genius and design abilities to transform our dream into reality was second to none, while still allowing us our own style and ideas. She listened to our special requirements regarding what would work around our lifestyle and family then expertly designed our home to timelessly function for us while still looking stunning!
> Her easygoing demeanor and great communication skills allowed her to expertly collaborate with my husband and myself, the contractor, suppliers as well as the trades people. Throughout the entire process she was able to help us visualize the project with samples and expert drawings.
> Diane's sense of space, perspective and balance seamlessly guided the project from conception to installation and completion.
> We would not hesitate to work with her again and recommend her to anyone looking for a designer.

**Comment from SunHouse Designs:**

> Thank you so much for your wonderful comments! It was such a complete joy to work with you both, and to have the opportunity to contribute to your project. Thank you for your trust. Shout out to Kyle Klassen, Ponderosa Construction for running such a great project and guiding us all through COVID-19. I can't wait to do the photo shoot. Here are some site photos in the meantime, while we wait for island stools!

> With Diane's expert help we turned a run down apartment into a beautiful home!
> Diane is a pleasant lady, easy to work with. It is obvious that she has much experience in
> designing kitchens and bathrooms. She is a professional, has an excellent eye for colour and detail. All of her suggestions were tasteful as well as practical, though she also gave us
> enough room for our own creativity.
> I would not hesitate to do another renovation with her and will recommend her to my friends.

**Comment from SunHouse Designs:**

> Thanks so much, Nellie & Andre! It was such a pleasure working with you! I look forward to taking some photos when the Covid-19 situation is over.

**★★★★★ — User, Aug. 2019**

> Wow! What a job. We hired Diane to help us design a kitchen remodel with Nickels Cabinets. We were 2000 miles away and worked with Diane over FaceTime. She did a tremendous job! Despite her having never stepped foot in our house, the kitchen remodel was a great success, and the cabinetry fits beautifully into place. She was great at communication and flexible in working with our schedule in a different timezone. Without a doubt, I would recommend her to my friends and family.

**Comment from SunHouse Designs:**

> Thanks for your review! We made a great team on this project -- it was such a pleasure working with you both. Also, you knocked it out of the park with your photos! Thanks for including those.

**★★★★★ — Casa Bossanova Bespoke Kitchens & Closets, May 2019**

> Diane is a pleasure to interact with. She has in depth knowledge of the kitchen industry which she has graciously shared with us and our clients. We look forward to working with Diane again in the future.

**★★★★★ — Curtis & Tina Murphy, Feb. 2019**

> After interviewing several design companies, we interviewed Diane for our kitchen renovation. It quickly became evident that Diane would be the perfect fit to suit our design/reno needs. Her friendly, easy going manner comibined with a trained eye and attention to detail made her a pleasure to deal with for the duration of our renovation. We couldn’t be happier with the finished product and highly recommend Diane for any renovation or home improvement project!

**Comment from SunHouse Designs:**

> Thanks so much for the great review, Tina & Curtis! I really enjoyed working with you both! I'm glad you're happy with everything. It looks great! Here's a peek at the kitchen and family room. More photos to come soon.

> We recently used Diane to help us in a complete remodel of our master en-suite bathroom. Diane took what was an overwhelming project for us and guided us through every step of the project including choice of materials and layout. She was always available when questions or problems arose and never made us feel like we were bothering her. This was our first time using a designer and Diane took away the stress and made it a fun and exciting experience. Our bathroom is now the calm and soothing room we were looking for! It was a pleasure to work with Diane and I wouldn’t hesitate to use her again for our next project! Thanks Diane!

**Comment from SunHouse Designs:**

> Thanks so much! I really enjoyed working with you on this project. I'm looking forward to getting photos next week!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Countertop name? Wall paint color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I was the interior designer on this job with Harald Koehn Construction. The countertop product is called Crush, a recycled glass product by EcoCrush. The colour is "Arctic". The wall colour is Benjamin Moore 2050-60 "Arctic Blue" in their Aura Waterborne interior paint.

**Q: What are the tiles and sizes used here** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The shower walls are "Ageless" porcelain, White Gloss in 4x24 and 6x24.
The accent tile is "Progetta Vetri" in Pearla D Gloss 2x12. Both from Stone + Tile, Vancouver.
The shower floor is "Ontario" in Bright White Matte from Olympia Tile.

**Q: Who makes the shower tile?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The shower wall tile is from Stone+Tile in Vancouver called Ageless in White Gloss.
The accent tile on the floor and wall is from Olympia called Boutique Versailles marble in Oriental White.

**Q: Need new kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Taking an old dated very run down kitchen, opening up center wall, putting in new center island cabinets, counters and appliances.

A: Do you have photos to show what is on the other side of the fridge? What is the space behind the photographer of this photo? From this one picture it looks like a complete reno is needed: new floor, new cabinets, countertops. Are you thinking of removing the wall behind the stove to open up the space to the room beyond? Is there somewhere else to locate the stove? This space is a little tight to have the island -- why it's so narrow. I have extended the kitchen cabinetry into the eating area for some clients and had a bigger island instead of a breakfast table. I can't tell if this is an option for you. A mobile island/prep cart is also an option in a kitchen this size. Also, you could probably remove the bulkhead over the existing cabinets and have the new cabinets go right to the ceiling. I agree with the previous comment about changing/relocating the ceiling fan. You might want to consider putting some pot lights around the perimeter of the room instead of a central light fixture. Also, a pot light over the sink would look much better than the light fixture that is there now.

**Q: Large tiles in a small bathroom?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I love the large (minimum grout lines) tile look in the bathrooms. My bathroom is relatively small, 6' by 10', in a beach house. I am thinking of using light tile 18x18'' or so both on the floor and wall. Is that going to look nice in a small space?

A: you can also use Schluter strips to finish the edges of the tiles. gives a very clean edge.

**Q: Kitchen Advice Needed** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Redoing kitchen in recently purchased home. Going with medallion premium choice cabinets (from menards). I had picked out Hawthorne door style in chestnut finish. My questions.

1\. Are cabinets too dark for kitchen this size? ( see attached for sizing)

2\. Do I have to worry about the cabinets darkening over time?

3\. Any changes you would suggest regarding the layout?

TIA for your help!

A: i think that your idea of an island on wheels is perfect for the size of your kitchen. 24" x 36" could easily work in there as long as you can move it around as needed.

re: space between sink and range. i usually try to center the range/fan on the wall. is this slightly off center for a reason? sometimes this is necessary if your cabinetry doesn't come in 1" increments
