Not only were we taken by the quality of craftsmanship in the show room (which was under construction at the time), but we were able to peruse various styles. > We saw "our cabinets" in the second room we entered . . .and knew that we were going to do an unplanned kitchen. Designer James Yoder was available to meet us, and we made plans to meet in our kitchen to get an idea of what we could do. James put us in contact with an excellent flooring company, who in turn put us in contact with an excellent contractor. Voila! We had our team. > > We decided to do the kitchen during four months that we had planned to be far away. James provided us with preliminary and detailed plans within a couple of weeks, and added items to our vague ideas that showed a quick perception, timely communication, practicality and a refined sense of balance and design. Off we went . .. to a location 2500 miles away. We left a key for the team, they came and went, sent updates and photos, and finished a breathtaking kitchen prior to our return . . right on time! The centerpiece of the kitchen is the cabinetry, high quality, well mastered and simply beautiful. Our most recent kitchen was installed in Colorado, and Dana Miller at Ayr was on top of it all. His communication and promptness were exemplary. There are a lot of design and function questions in kitchen cabinets and they have it down pat. When the cabinets arrived in Colorado they were perfect! As was the case with our previous 2 kitchens. Crafted by people who clearly take pride in what they make, the cabinets are gorgeous. It seems that today, in a big box world, things are being made more and more cheaply. This is not the case with Ayr-- their quality, attention to detail, and care in customer satisfaction continue to impress. We sent emails with pictures to all cabinet builders in Nappanee, and, lo and behold, Ayr wrote back "We built that one, 45 years ago". Wow, we thought! > Dana Miller became our companion on a winding journey to a great end result. We brainstormed the various options we had and ended up replacing a monstrous gas range with an elegant, multifunctional cabinet and induction cooktop. As Ayr still had the old plans, they could make the cabinet 100% fitting with the rest of the kitchen. > Dana worked with us through both our ideas and the requirements for the downdraft we had to install which included a faux back and non-standard drawers. I'm not sure how often we had to revise before we finally could go into production - but Dana was patiently at our side. > The installation was an act of art in itself. For example, when hitting a snag (the wall behind the gas stove was a tick crooked), it was not a big deal. The carpenter who fitted the piece into the corner was marvelous. One could see the decades of experience he brought to the job.
