> I hired AA Craftsman to restore and remodel my south side craftsman style home. Art has an eye for style and detail that restored this house to have the appeal of timeless features but with all the modern convenience. I also appreciated the professional aspect of his crew. They were extremely clean and respectful while in my home. Remodeling can be stressful with carpenters in and out of your house and life. It was a pleasure having the AA Craftsman crew on the job. The always cleaned up after each day so that we could have some level of normal life during the remodel.

> We initially met with Art to discuss adding a couple skylights to a dark living space.  Our 1980's era house had been remodeled several times, and the discussion with Art evolved into an examination of other problems and possible remodeling ideas.  Art had some great ideas; he got his architect involved and we got more good ideas.  The final plan included everything we wanted and made the best of existing space and added some great new space.  We used both new and reclaimed wood and timbers and Art and his carpenters did a wonderful job both inside and outside the house.  During the nine month project Art discovered several structural and other problems; they were well fixed giving us not only a beautifully remodeled home, but also a house brought up to current standards.  Art has excellent subcontractors; we had a lot of both updated and new electric service, lots of updated and new plumbing, new paint, extensive new cabinetry, doors and windows, all done with professionalism and overseen by Art's expertise.  In total, we added or redid a sun room, mudroom, laundry room, master bedroom, two bathrooms, wide-plank flooring and front entry.  We now have a beautifully updated and remodeled home that reflects the great work of Art and his team.

> Exceptional group, a great company. We had to replace our windows in our new house because of the poor work of the builder. AA craftsman advised and ordered and iinstalled the new Anderson windows and we are so pleased. The windows are fine quality, but the crew has to be in the top 3 for this area, They were very skilled and professional. They were clean, even quiet, had creative solutions to some issues and they are polite. During and after completion of the work, they cleaned up everything, from nails to sawdust. A great group of guys, We are hiring them again for future projects. I recommend AA Craftman 100%.

> The owner and staff of AA Craftsman are professional, highly skilled, thorough, and detail oriented craftsmen. They installed new Windows throughout the first level of our 1900's home. (Not an easy job!) They made our vision a beautiful reality in our complete kitchen renovation. Which again is not an easy job in an old house that doesn't seem to have a level spot in it. They also completed other various tasks like trim work, door jambs, and floor to ceiling wall boards throughout the first level of the home, all skillfully done with a craftsman' s eye. AA Craftsman worked very well with other contractors, sub contractors, and the architect (my husband) to get the renovation done the way we wanted it. They helped in giving new life and vibrancy to an old 1902 home that needed the attention and just about a complete overhaul!

Although slightly smaller than some master baths we were able to increase the size considerably by reconfiguring the adjacent walls of the surrounding rooms. The glass shower surround gives the room an open feel while showing off the beautiful tile. Heat mat installed under the tile feels nice on the feet.

**Q: paint and stain** *(in Photo Questions)*

I’d love to know what exterior paint and stain colors you used. Love it!

A: Natural cedar stain on the shingles. Yosemite sand, Benjamin Moore, on the siding.

**Q: Love the cabinets and drawer style - hardwood or mdf?** *(in Photo Questions)*

We are doing kitchen makeover and I am certain I want white. I thought I wanted painted hardwood, but was told mdf takes paint better (hardwood rails/mdf center). However, I have concerns over mdf, particularly with mdf slab drawers. Your expertise would be much appreciated!

A: Using wood for white cabinets can be more durable. Although MDF can take paint well and allow for a smooth finish it can also chip and is not as well suited for getting wet.

**Q: Countertop** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love the countertop!  What material and color is this?  Is it a leathered granite?

A: This counter top is made of Paperstone. The color is slate.
