> We had the good fortune to have found Rhine Landscaping and Pools when we started planning for a major pool renovation and re-landscaping. We interviewed several pool companies and found it an easy decision to hire Rhine – and we are so happy we did.
>
> We bought a house that had a pool which hadn’t been updated in more than 25 years. So, we wanted to resurface the pool, change the decking, replace equipment, replace fencing, put in ALL new landscaping within the pool enclosure and build a cabana. Rhine did all of that, and more, and they were absolutely a delight to work with.
>
> Every person who worked on our job was knowledgeable and professional. It started with our initial meeting with Jay Rhine, president of the company. You won’t meet a more professional, honest and all-round nice guy than Jay. The project supervisor, Mark Kemp, was the consummate professional. He knew what he was doing, kept the work crew busy every single day, did top quality work, communicated with us frequently, and made helpful suggestions. One of the big benefits of Rhine is that the people who work on your job are, for the most part, employees of Rhine. As a side note, we also did a major interior renovation simultaneously, and the contractor who did that work only had administrative employees. All of the people who did the actual work were sub-contractors, and we found a HUGE difference in the process. We didn’t know that before we started, but that’s one of the big assets Rhine provides. Another instrumental person in our project was the office manager, Michelle Engler. She is nothing short of amazing. There isn’t a question we had that she didn’t know the answer to, or quickly found the answer for us. I’ve never worked with a company that had such a stellar office manager. We also worked with a wonderful landscape architect, Dan Murphy, who listened to our ideas and desire to create a very contemporary pool and executed it perfectly. He also designed all of the extensive, lush landscaping around the pool, and we couldn’t be happier with it. Dan, too, was a pleasure to work with. Finally, the person who supervised the landscape installation, Alvaro Bernuy. Like everyone else we worked with, was knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to work with. He was frequently onsite and made several very good suggestions that enhanced our project.
> Having had such a great experience with our pool renovation, we then hired Rhine to re-landscape most of our yard and were, once again, thrilled with the results and process.
>
> Jay Rhine has several affiliated businesses such as exterior lighting and irrigation systems and we also hired them to install our irrigation system. They take care of our lawn maintenance, and we are working with them now on a landscape maintenance plan. As you can see, we are so happy to have found Rhine and appreciate the opportunity to work with them whenever we can.

> Got referred to this company through a friend after seeing their yard. They do great work for a good price.

> I hired Rhine to install a paver walkway to connect my new deck to my old patio. I usually do this kind of work myself because I am so particular about job quality, and I have had some bad experiences with contractors in the past. I was thrilled with the entire experience. Jay, the owner came out to look at the project the next day after I called. He even was able to arrange for one of his crews to work on the weekend to get the job done quickly. They were done in two days, did work to the level that I would have done myself, and did a pretty good job cleaning up when they were done. Jay came by during the construction to check the work, and came back after it was done to make sure that I was happy with the work. I highly recommend Rhine Landscaping.

> Rhine Landscaping just completed a tricky project involving a deck like platform leading to a patio. The quality and workmanship couldn't be better. We are so pleased! It wasn't the cheapest estimate we got but it was well worth the money. They were professional and finished in a timely manner. To make long story short they figured out a beautiful solution to our problem. Kudos to the architect!

> We cannot say enough about how satisfied we are with Rhine Landscaping. We made the unfortunate mistake of hiring MD pools to build our pool. We researched pool companies, but apparently we didn't dig deep enough. We had several issues with the pool, but the biggest issue was the retaining wall supporting the backside of the pool. Dirt was seeping through the rock at an alarming rate, and we kept bringing in more dirt and mulch to fill it. Then, we noticed it was starting to lean outward. We brought Jay Rhine in to look at it, and he diagnosed it immediately. It was not built as it should have been. It didn't have that black liner to prevent the dirt from coming through, it didn't have any of the drainage stones or drain pipes that it should have. I'm not an expert on the technicalities of retaining wall building, but there were so many things missing, it was clear the wall was unstable.
>
> We scheduled a date to have the work done, but before that time, during those crazy hard rains we got in June, the wall collapsed, just as Jay had warned. His men came out and worked all weekend long, including all day long on Sunday to get the wall up as quickly as possible.
>
> I was not looking forward to having all that equipment wreck the yard, and having all my plants destroyed, so I was pleasantly surprised when they hauled all the material in by hand, saving all but a path in my lawn. All the dirt that was dug out was piled onto a tarp to keep it from ruining the lawn. Further, they worked around as many plants as they could so that I wouldn't lose them all. They even replanted some of my iris bulbs! AND...they completely cleaned up the yard when they were through!
>
> But here's the best part. After we initially met with Jay and got his estimate and plan, we got those hard rains. We photographed how the water was running down the front yard hill directly into the pool, dumping dirt and stone into the pool, overflowing the pool out the back end, which ultimately caused the wall to collapse. We sent the photographs to Jay, and he realized his solution needed to be modified to account for this additional issue. He went ahead and added another aspect to the project that was not even included in the plan or estimate. He created a beautiful rock ravine, using pond liner and river rocks, in front of the pool to divert the water from dumping into the pool, but instead, around the pool. It was creative, beautiful and a clever way to resolve other water issues we were having. He went above and beyond to correct all of our issues, just to make sure we were happy customers. You don't find customer service like that anymore

> You will never meet a more honest and quality person than Jay Rhine, and the work done by his company is second to none. We love our patio and we appreciate all that Jay does for the community. Can't say enough positive things about this man and his company!

The project scope included a screened porch with storage underneath, a fireplace, upper terrace and walkway to the upper side yard. The final result is a backyard that has character and interest despite the apparent grade change.

  - Description: Rarely does a project present such a open and level canvas to design around. With a project like this the challenge often lies in how to create scale and a sense of space in the outdoors. Even though the patio is at one level the overall space feels like three separate rooms. The outdoor kitchen is arranged to create separation between the dinning and cooking area. The fireplace feels like it's own room by incorporating a pergola which reinforces the spatial boundary. While the outdoor spaces wo…
