We had a rough vision of what we hoped to achieve by removing the wall that separated our original kitchen and dining room to create an enlarged open kitchen. Alex took that preliminary concept and came up with a beautiful detailed design that surpassed our expectations. Alex guided us step by step through the selection of cabinets, granite, quartz, fixtures, tile, lighting, even paint colors! He offered us a wide variety of options so that we could choose the ones that fit our wishes and our budget. Once the job started, Alex kept us informed of work schedule adjustments when the inevitable glitches and surprises arose. All of the workers Alex brought in for various aspects of the project were courteous and unobtrusive. They did everything imaginable to make the disruption of a major home renovation as bearable as it could be. Now that the job is done we are delighted with the outcome. We spent almost 6 months researching kitchen designers and contractors. Alex came highly recommended to us by an acquaintance and as soon as we met him we had complete confidence in his ability and professionalism. One thing we really wanted was one person accountable for our entire job - from design, to sourcing cabinets, floors, tiles, countertops, appliances to build, to completion. Alex definitely ticked this box. Alex was also very experienced and absolutely unflappable - he took time to ask lots of questions and really listen before he put together his designs. His design was by far the best thought out for our space of everyone we talked to and that's because he listens. During the building process he used highly competent, skilled and professional workers for every aspect of the job and was on site often making checks and keeping things on track. He was also great at communicating with us on status and updated often, which is sometimes not the case with contractors. This was very much appreciated. As with any job, there is always the inevitable unexpected issue that arises. Alex was always very quick at escalating these issues, clear when explaining the situation and he was creative when thinking about solutions. He was always fair in assessing any additional costs. My husband, Mike and I, stopped into the Creative Nook after almost giving up on our kitchen remodeling. We gave Alex our budget and our list of what we each felt we must have in our new kitchen. Mr. Hall designed and completed our remodeling on budget and a couple of days earlier than anticipated. All members of Creative Nook staff were exceptional in their attention to detail. As problems arose, as they will working with the Borough of Malvern, Alex and his team problem solved effectively and cost effectively. I can not make enough good comments or give a higher recommendation to Alex. If I could, I would rate Creative Nook at 10!!! Even after the redesign was complete, we had an issue with an appliance an Alex even helped us to resolve that problem. Who does that??? The first time was a kitchen remodel in 1998 and the 2nd time was a larger project in the fall of 2016. This project included 2 bathroom updates, a master bedroom/bath/ closet and sewing room remodel, and major renovations to our living room and family room - which included removing part of a wall, new bookcases and removing a large 3 sided fireplace and replacing it with a new smaller gas fireplace. AS for me, I personally do not like to pore over thousands of choices or get into the fine details of remodeling - since that is Alex's expertise, and he does it well, I'm happy to leave it to him. Our project was a kitchen addition, and Alex guided us around the layout, drawer types, sizes, material and color choices. He is able to quietly let you make your own decisions if you know what you want, but makes recommendations if you ask. He manages ALL the details, providing you with a calendar (that doesn't change), sending you a text message reminder if you need to make a decision or risk pushing back the calendar, and he deals with all scheduling and managing the people. He was the bright spot in a very complicated and challenging project, and I highly, highly recommend him to others. The other key (and unique) benefit to Alex is that his prices didn't change - and there were no unforseen extras. What he quoted was exactly what we paid. I cannot say enough good things about our experience! To begin, Alex is an excellent designer. He understood everything we needed and really got to know the needs of our household before the process began. As for the renovation itself, I was pleasantly surprised how quickly and smoothly it was carried out. I am a stay-at-home mom with two young children and dogs, so we needed as little disruption as possible. On day one, Alex posted a timeline with projected completion dates for each task, and his team met EVERY SINGLE deadline. His contractors are talented, professional, neat and considerate. They are all very nice people and were a pleasure to have in our home. One thing I will say, it was not an inexpensive project. But this was based on the decisions my family made, and Alex made them very clear. He broke down our choices into good/better/best categories so we could make informed choices about pricing. But I can tell you that the quality and assurance of a smooth renovation are worth every cent.
