**★★★★★ — Stefan S., Nov. 2024**

> We hired Zoe and Ryan to oversee a large kitchen remodel and design project as well some systems and structures updating of a more-than-100-year-old house so that we didn't have to worry about the hundreds (thousands?) of details such a project would entail. The two of them are professional, communicative, and down to earth. By being able to move projects components around, they brought the overall project in on time even when suppliers or providers didn't meet their own deadlines. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again or recommend to others contemplating house remodeling or redesigning.

**★★★★★ — amymoriarty, July 2024**

> Right from the beginning, I was glad we choose Edit Design Build Studio. Zoe and Ryan are great! Our 1980s townhouse was in desperate need for some updates (living room, kitchen, and stairway) and I had no idea where to start. Other than hiring a handyman for minor projects this was a really big project and was way out of my comfort zone. I sent out a few email inquiries, EDBS was the first one to respond and hands down the most helpful.
> We worked on setting a budget and went from there! Ryan and Zoe really do pay attention to everything you say - the first draft of the Design pretty much covered all our concerns/ideas. We just suggested minor changes based on our style preferences.
> Right before construction began, we rec'd a schedule and I have to say - we were either ahead a few days (or a week) or right on schedule, never behind. We rec'd weekly checkin/progress report emails every friday and Ryan was onsite every day to either work with a trades partner or working on a project of his own. From that first phone call in the beginning, we never felt forgotten. Zoe and Ryan are responsive, helpful, talented, organized, and just great people!

**★★★★★ — Christian Sanchez, Sept. 2023**

> We are very happy with our experience working with Ryan and Zoe on our house project and with the results. We appreciate that there were clear expectations, timelines and transparency with every step of the process. Even when plans and processes needed to change, we were satisfied with how modifications were made and appreciated that their were instances where Edit Design Build would absorb a cost rather than always pass it onto us. EDB worked to earn our business and now after completion I am happy to endorse them and recommend to anyone who is considering working with them.

**★★★★★ — Eric & Christianne, Oct. 2022**

> Edit LLC designed and renovated our basement, creating a livable comfortable space with impeccable design and execution. The things we liked: they were creative in their design, up front in pricing and scheduling, and most impressively during this time of supply chain delays, they nailed the schedule and didn't miss a milestone. They worked with us during planning and around us during construction, we always felt informed and in good hands about what had to be done and what we had to decide. We are extremely satisfied with the outcome, it feels like our house doubled in size, and importantly for our 90-year old house, we know that the work got done the right way. Unqualified recommendation to talk to Edit about your renovation project.

**★★★★★ — Tom & Nancy, Sept. 2022**

> Working with EDIT Design/Build Studio was amazing. We’ve done a handful of renovations in the past, working with different companies, and no one has come close in terms of quality of the work, professionalism, and overall experience.
> We really liked the working relationship we had with Ryan and Zoe. They compliment each other with technical knowledge and design sensibilities, and from the very beginning, we felt that we were entering a partnership with them. They treated our project as if it was their own. We received weekly updates that were thorough and helped keep us informed on progress. For example, they provided timely reminders of items we needed to do such as order appliances, select paint colors, etc. They were also responsive and always got back to us promptly when we had questions or concerns. We felt like we were their top priority.
> Something that made EDIT stand out was their integrity. They were always honest and transparent, and stuck to the schedule and budget throughout the entire project. There were no tricks or surprises, and they had reasonable solutions for the few challenges that came up during construction. The project was on time and on budget.
> Finally, the workmanship and quality of Zoe and Ryan’s work is simply beautiful. With an eye for great design and a meticulous attention to detail, they alway made sure the work was done the right way. This was important to us because while we knew our kitchen needed updating, we also wanted to ensure whatever we did stayed true the historic importance of our architect-designed 1924 home.
> Thanks Zoe and Ryan. We LOVE our new kitchen from EDIT Design/Build Studio!

**★★★★★ — Christine Markle, Jan. 2022**

> Edit did a complete renovation of our main floor bathroom and added a full bathroom to our 1920s home. We cannot say enough about how pleased we are with our finished bathrooms and how smoothly the process went, especially during a difficult Covid year. Ryan and Zoe are professionals; they are creative, detail oriented, and organized. The renovation process started with a design consultation where they listened to our input, asked questions, and made recommendations. Ryan and Zoe then designed a plan with creative solutions to problem areas and presented a detailed budget and a timeline. And they stuck to it - there were no surprise costs and the project was finished on time. Weekly progress reports noting what had been accomplished and what to expect in the coming week kept us fully informed. Ryan and Zoe are easy to work with, responsive to questions and do quality work. We recommend them and would use them again.

**★★★★★ — 2nd floor renovation, Dec. 2021**

> We just finished our second project with Edit and, as before, had a great experience. Even coping with supply and subcontractor issues, Zoe and Ryan showed great attention to detail. Our second floor is great!

**★★★★★ — padma wudali, May 2021**

> We were looking to add a room and expand the half bath to full on our main floor. Ryan and Zoe from Edit design met us in early Spring of 2020 and proceeded to design the new space. After multiple discussions we went with the option of adding a full basement and room to the house, we also added a mud room space to declutter out main living room entry way. They coordinated and planned teams, supplies and inspections for every step of exterior and interior work.
> All through the pandemic, the various crews and Ryan and Zoe themselves were on schedule, extremely approachable, willing to answer questions and address concerns . Our addition after completion looks like it was always there, seamless integration with the rest of the house, both indoors and outdoors.
> Edit Design Build Studio's experience, expertise and ability to plan and coordinate this project has been extremely invaluable to us.

**★★★★★ — Ramdev Wudali, May 2021**

> We started the project by talking top Zoe and Ryan almost a year ago now. At the time we were interviewing other architects and contractors. We liked Edit's approach to executing the project and went with them. WE liked that Edit had both the architect and Contractor roles covered. (Our project was to put in an addition to our existing house - a bedroom and a bathroom with closet space and a mudroom)
> Once we signed the contract with them, the design process took a couple of months with a lot of back and forth. (the process was slower than usual because of the Pandemic). WE go quotes on a couple of options - with a Crawl space of a Full basement.
> After deciding on the plan, Zoe spent a couple of months scheduling the whole project which gave us to time to select the interior aspects.
> Even tho the schedule was fixed for just 2 of months, Zoe was on top of getting everything lined so work did not stop.
> Once the project started, thanks to good weather, there weren't any major obstacles and Ryan was present at the job site every day.
> We received weekly updates from Edit and the work planned for the following week. All the Subcontractors were excellent and professional.
> The project ended recently with the final inspection and passed with flying colors.
>
> I highly recommend Edit for a project of this scale.

**★★★★★ — HU-862302170, April 2021**

> Zoe and Ryan are high-class remodelers, and they make your house beautiful with their great advice and hard work.

**★★★★★ — Caroline Schnieders, Oct. 2020**

> Ryan and Zoe renovated my kitchen and basement and transformed a bedroom into a beautiful bathroom and walk in closet. They showed great attention to detail throughout the process, and they went the extra mile in providing advice on paint colors and finding a remnant countertop for us. I am very pleased with the final result. I would not hesitate to work with them again.

**★★★★★ — Paula Luxenberg, Nov. 2019**

> Edit remodeled our kitchen, family room, powder room, and full bath. We interviewed lots of design/build firms and knew we'd found the right people as soon as we met Ryan and Zoe. They have kids the same ages as ours, so they completely understood when I said my largest concern was how our family was going to live through the construction. They gave us a very detailed schedule of what would be happening when - and then they stuck to it! Ryan and Zoe made the design process easy, and the final product looks just like the drawings they provided. When issues came up during the construction process (which is inevitable no matter who you work with), they were always very responsive and quick to find a solution. Our refreshed spaces are so bright and lovely, and we're really loving living in our updated home. I especially love our new mudroom that they created by putting a half wall in our family room next to the back door - gorgeous and functional! It was truly a pleasure to work with Edit.

  - Description: This mid-century split level home was in dire need of a proper kitchen renovation. The homeowner was committed to honoring the age and style of her home, while updating the function of the space. Although the size and galley layout did not change, the new arrangement of appliances, storage and workspaces make for a much more user friendly cooking experience. Custom cabinetry in a mix of sophisticated gray and bold cherry wood, pays homage to the original mid century design of the home. While cus…

  - Description: This classic Minneapolis home was designed by architect Harry Wild Jones in 1924. The existing kitchen retained some of the original architecture, but had been modified several times over the past 100 years. Our goal, in collaboration with the homeowners, was to restore the architectural integrity of the kitchen while creating a layout that would be more functional and desirable for their modern day family. Unnecessary doorways were removed and the entrance from front of house to the kitchen was…

  - Description: For this Minneapolis family, space had become a real challenge. As a family of four with two active daughters and two large dogs, nothing seemed quite large enough. The existing kitchen was too small, poorly laid out, and functioned as the primary passage to their back yard. On the main level, there was simply not enough storage space for the family’s essential items—coats, gear, and sports equipment. The home also lacked any type of bathroom on the main level. Lastly, the existing overused bath…

  - Description: Like many Minneapolis homes from the 1920s, the original kitchen footprint was simply too small to accommodate the needs of its current homeowners. An earlier addition added square footage, but was poorly constructed and was not well integrated into the original space. The new layout included a 24” deep cantilevered addition to the back of the house that increased the footprint and allowed the kitchen to be unified into one continuous room. With the added space and the newly created arched openi…

  - Location: Saint Paul, MN
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: This 1905 home in the Merriam Park neighborhood of St. Paul contained a kitchen that, at first glance, was somewhat attractive. However, the original kitchen was very poorly laid out and simply did not function well for a modern family. The charge was to open the space to the adjacent dining room and completely reconfigure the kitchen within the same footprint, making it both user friendly and stylistically appropriate for the age of the home. Painted cabinetry with full inset doors, soapstone c…

  - Description: As world travelers, the owners of this Plymouth home desired improvements to their master bathrooms’ aesthetic and function. New custom vanities, fixtures and finishes update this space properly. Carrara marble countertops, tub deck and shower bench and marble inspired wall tiles envelope the bathroom. The porcelain floor flows seamlessly into the threshold free shower and black marble accents complete the extensive tile package. Rohl and Kohler fixtures and accessories and glass cabinet knobs a…

  - Description: For this young family of four, a second bathroom on their bedroom level had become a necessity. In this 1905 home, an extra bedroom adjacent to the master bedroom was removed to accommodate this spacious master bathroom. Period inspired lighting, paired pedestal sinks, subway tiles with accent banding, honed granite surfaces and a custom porcelain hex tile mosaic floor, help this new bathroom blend seamlessly within the 110 year old home. Heated floors, a steam shower, and a soaking tub for two…

  - Location: Minneapolis, MN

  - Description: This small kitchen desperately needed some creative reworking. In addition to completely reworking the layout, several bold elements were chosen to elevate this space. A deep indigo color was selected for the cabinets and handmade concrete tiles were installed behind the range, creating a bold accent wall. The apron sink and soapstone countertops gesture to the age of the home, while a new window above the sink lets in much needed natural light. To complete the project, the original floors were…

  - Description: This beautiful sunroom was built in place of a neglected screen porch. The original screens were set too far from the floor, making it difficult to view the yard and playground below. Because it was an unconditioned space, the old porch sat unused most of the time. The new four season sunroom features Marvin windows and doors, tiled plank flooring, and a new heating/cooling system, making this room inviting year round. The addition was sided to complement the rest of the house and the underbelly…

  - Description: Edit design build studio transformed this dim unfinished concrete block basement in a 1920s Minneapolis bungalow into a bright and inviting family room. With almost no natural light and years of clutter, it was hard to imagine its possibilities. With the addition of two large Marvin egress windows, a timber-lined egress well, tight insulation, and smart use of space, this basement was completely transformed. - Description: With a passion for recording and a love of all things musical, these homeowners wanted to add a performing and recording studio to their home in Eagan. The primary intent was to create a professional quality, recording studio within the existing residential setting. In order to achieve this a 200 sf addition was added to a garage bay adjacent to their home. Specially designed walls were constructed and commercial-grade acoustical doors and windows were installed in order to eliminate sound trans…

  - Description: Given an eighty-five year old, unfinished second level, Edit Design Build Studio had the opportunity to create a one of a kind master suite with this contemporary bathroom. A two person shower with pebble floor and wall-to-wall glass, paired sinks resting on a cast-on-site concrete slab, modern fixtures, built in cabinetry and in-floor heat make this master bath a place of serenity complete with many modern conveniences. - Description: This third floor master bathroom had never been used by its current homeowner. It had been poorly constructed by a previous owner leaving the space with deteriorating fixtures, a failing vanity, and poorly installed tile work leading to notable water damage. The new bathroom was designed with a similar layout, but rebuilt with all new fixtures and finishes, resulting in a luxurious and peaceful retreat. - Description: This 80 sq ft kitchen presented many challenges. A radiator consumed one wall, the refrigerator blocked a window and the poor layout provided only two feet of countertops. Space was annexed from an adjacent landing to accommodate the fridge allowing a new layout to maximize counters and storage. Maple cabinets and soapstone counters help this efficient modern kitchen relate to the 1920s home that surrounds it.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Beautiful! Question over corner cabinet?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am redoing my small u shape kitchen and am debating between two blind upper cabinets vs ez reach. Yours looks to be a blind next to the range? My concern is the EZ reach will look busy w two slim doors vs one larger door and I don't really need that space. Can you share what you did here? Thank you!

A: This is a blind corner. There are two boxes here with the larger of the two having a double door and a blind corner. We were trying to avoid a single corner cabinet with an inside hinge and a large door that opened into the space. It is an old architecturally significant home and this approach felt more traditional. I hope that helps. Good Luck!
