> Kim was an absolute dream. She was incredibly professional but also warm and easy to work with. She truly listened to me and was able to turn my vision into a reality. Kim was also very mindful of my budget and made great suggestions based on what I was able to spend.
> She also hired the best contractors to do the job and was able to get great prices on materials because of her vast network of resources.
> I can't wait to get the next project going with her.

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> Thank you! I appreciate your warm review! It was a pleasure to help you transform your kitchen and find ways to make your specific style come to life and markedly increase the functionality of your space while remembering the budget.
> I'm looking forward to (virtually) doing your laundry room with you soon!

> We worked with Kim Johnson for our home’s paint and drapery upstairs, and our basement renovation, including new kitchen and built-in entertainment wall. Stop searching, you have found the designer that does it all, with the most exquisite taste and vast experience. Kim is a professional with so much industry knowledge about kitchens. She held our hands from the start: went to vendors with us for selections, spent hours designing kitchen and built-in unit cabinet design layouts to present to us, reworking and improving designs based on our feedback. Kim knows electric, plumbing, lighting, flooring. Oh and Kim’s expertise with paint color selections is superb. She knows color, and walked us through many iterations of white until we decided on upstairs (BM Dove Wing) and the basement (BM Silver Satin). Most importantly, Kim listens to her clients. Kim made strong suggestions to us, but listened when I had different ideas (electrical outlets under the cabinets). She knows when to push on a feature (American black honed granite instead of white Calacatta Maggio Duo quartz) with the gray cabinets on our entertainment wall,) to entirely improve the look. She will sit and look at light fixtures with you, for as long as it takes, to find the right one. Kim remembers every single detail, to make sure your project proceeds smoothly with the contractor. She works from the heart, loves what she does, and it shows. It was a pleasure working with Kim every single step of the way. Thank you, Kim, for our stunning, classy, urban finished basement!

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> Thank you for your kind and generous review, Emma! It is always so fun and rewarding working with you but this latest project was especially fulfilling. Of course the most satisfying thing of all is that you both are so happy with your new basement!

> With her exquisite taste and innate ability to understand your taste - Kim Johnson is the best interior designer I have ever worked with (and I have worked with a few).
>
> Kim listens to your ideas and turns them into a space that is so much better than you imagined. She follows a budget carefully and is considerate of constraints you may have.
>
> My favorite question from Kim - is that something you like?

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> Thank for your kind review! I have loved working with you and helping you with your lovely home over that past few years to create spaces that are unique to your specific tastes and that will meet your needs.

> I used Kim to help me elevate the atmosphere and interior design of our urban, open plan, row house. We had started the decorating with a few modern furniture stores but it was not coming together. Kim immediately identified the elements that would take it to the next level--wall color, furniture adds, rugs, lighting etc. The outcome was beyond my expectation. Everyone is wowed when they enter our home. Kim has the X factor for design and understanding clients' needs. She brings it all together with expertise and care. She will work within a budget and delivers far more than you would expect. I highly recommend Kim.

> Kim Johnson has helped me on two design projects in two houses. The first was a kitchen and family room renovation. Kim walked me through the process and had the knowledge or design, color, products and contractors who could produce my dream kitchen. She guided me in making the best use of the space and making it look fabulous! The project was executed seamlessly and timely. Kim also helped me work long distance on a renovation of a 3 bedroom home. The design, colors, furnishings, light fixtures, fun accents and ideas she provided have all made the home functional and extremely warm and inviting.

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> It was awesome working with you on your beautiful kitchen pictured in my projects under "Navy Stained Hood, Island & Floating Shelves"! And I have loved working with you on all other projects over the years. Thank you for the review!

**★★★★★ — Kristen Marquardt, Feb. 2021**

> Working with Kim is a joy. She helped me redo multiple rooms in my house on time and on budget. I had a jumble of ideas (many of them contradictory and overlapping) and she translated them into a coherent result that is beautiful and practical. She has excellent subs and trades people who deliver excellent quality work and are great communicators. From start to finish, it was an excellent experience. I look forward to working with her again.

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> Thank you, Kristen! You are a joy to work with too! I loved helping to transform your hall bath pictured below and giving your kitchen a facelift while you were out of town. And I hope the new dining room built-in (pictured below before counters were installed) will be as functional for you and your family as it is beautiful.

**★★★★★ — Lynda Goodsell, Feb. 2021**

> Fortunately for us, Kim had a much more expansive vision for the possibilities in our renovation than we had. Not only does she have a designer's eye for color, texture and lines, but she also is well-versed in the technical aspects involved in building/renovation. Kim was also respectful of our personal tastes and life-style. The end product is a comfortable and welcoming home - better than we could have imagined.
> Kim is a delightful blend of friendliness and professionalism - rather a rare commodity these days.

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> It was a delight working with both of you! I am so happy I was able to help you update so much of your home. Thank you for your kind words!

**★★★★★ — annelborcherding, Jan. 2021**

> What a difference Kim made to our home project! Her eye for color, design and style was a tremendous asset. She can work with any budget to take your space from nice to WOW! Also, so easy to work with. She knows when to push and when to listen. Can not recommend highly enough!.

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> It has been so awesome working with you, Anne! I appreciate your recommendation.

**★★★★★ — HU-441066851, Dec. 2020**

> Kim spent several hours at my home and could not have been more professional or kind. She took time to listen to my ideas and then built on those to advise me on the best way to refinish my master bedroom and master bath. The end result is better than we ever could have imagined. She has great connections and had paint samples delivered to our door quickly so that we could make the final decision. She has tremendous vision for any room and knows how to incorporate what is important to you and still make it classy and beautiful. She was incredible to work with and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone.

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> Thank you for your kind review! I was so glad I could help you get just the right colors for your master suite and other areas of your new home.

**★★★★★ — Happy Birthday, Dec. 2020**

> Kim helped me renovate two bathrooms. I couldn’t have been happier with the results and the process! Kim was knowledgeable about the items we needed to purchase. Kim gave input on style choices and colors keeping my specific tastes in mind. If we ever decide to renovate our kitchen, Kim will be the first person I call! She is dependable, knowledgeable and professional.

**★★★★★ — Alicia Munoz, Sept. 2020**

> Kim is the best designer I've done a project with (I've worked with 4 over the last 15 years. ) She's creative, passionate about the work she does, and down to earth. She held my hand though the whole process of measuring and designing my space to picking out every last item in it. It helped that she hooked us up with different contractors and knew where to purchase everything we needed. She knew how to take my tastes into account while still providing firm, clear guidance on issues I didn't understand. AND she also happens to be affordable! A total win-win.

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> Thanks so much for your kind review, Alicia! I have loved working with you on projects!

**★★★★★ — Brent Bowen, Aug. 2020**

> I contacted Kim Johnson to assist me in a renovation of my 52-year-old 4-bedroom colonial style home in Western Fairfax,County. I needed some design help and got it! She opened my eyes to possibilities I'd not considered and helped me dispose of ideas that cost a lot of money with little potential return should I decide to sell at some point. I was impressed by her tear-down and install and paint crews - all highly professional people.
>
> I now have a brighter, more up-to-date, occupational therapy - approved home with a new, larger kitchen with matching powder room and open area to the updated family room, revamped upstairs bath rooms, consistent window treatments, a wonderful good-grade carpet and consistent trim throughout the house. We kept some wallpaper and some tile I like that works well with the new. We upgraded the pantry / laundry room and replaced HVAC and garage entry doors. The front door is more inviting and the patio posts are new. She even helped me hang pictures!

**Comment from Kim Johnson Designs, LLC:**

> It was so rewarding to work with you on your whole home facelift and kitchen renovation, Brent! Thank you for the opportunity to guide you though the process.

  - Description: My clients have some fantastic pieces of art inherited from the wife’s artist grandmother. When she showed me her favorite piece and they told me they were not afraid of darker rich colors I knew a rich, dark green would be fabulous as a wall color backdrop. I suggested Benjamin Moore hunter green, 2041–10. My client wondered out loud what it it would look like to also paint the ceiling that color. Of course I thought it was perfect for that room! I believe big art gives big impact. And that dar…

I found a perfectly matched rug that echoes the water in the work of art. And this buttery soft leather couch with delicate metal legs is fantastic. This room looked very different before with a much too small red rug, red window treatments with a valance, and a huge old rolled arm sofa. My clients are super happy with the new room.

## Community Q&A

**Q: floor tile with blue vanity** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the floor tile in the bathroom with blue vanity ?

A: Hi Lindsay! I did this bathroom renovation for a client about 7 years ago. The 12x24” ceramic floor tiles were from Floor & Decor and unfortunately, I’m quite certain it is now an out of stock item. At the time it was a good layer with the navy vanity because it had a bit of blue. You can see it a bit better in these Materials photos I found on my phone from 2018.

**Q: countertop color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Wondering about the countertop used here??

A: Hello! Thank you for your question. The countertops in this kitchen are :
Calacatta Lago more info linked here.

I also used the same Calacutta Lago counter tops in another kitchen linked here called "Storm Gray Painted Cabinets with Warm Natural Walnut Accents". But the counters look quite different in that kitchen with no blue or navy.

I think Calacutta Lago can be pulled to have the veining appear a gray/navy or at least pair very well with blue tones like in the kitchen you asked about. (Although please note that the pictures I had professionally taken came out with the blues MUCH brighter than they actually are in that kitchen. The blue island, shelves and hood are much more of a navy.)

I hope this helps!
Kim

**Q: what color paint is on the walls in the dining area?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Thanks!

A: Hello! Thanks for your question! The wall color in this kitchen and dining area is Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter HC-172. It’s definitely a go-to color for me for many of my clients. It goes with almost (everything EXCEPT yellow for some strange reason).
It’s especially great if I go on a paint color consultation to like a new home and my clients don’t have their things I usually pull colors from for the wall paint colors. Like if they don’t have their rugs or furniture in place yet. I will turn to Revere Pewter as my go-to-never-fail color.

Please share the manufacturer and name of Tub.

A: That is awesome! Best of luck and I hope you enjoy lots of relaxing baths in your beautiful new bathtub!

**Q: Brand/style/color of the laminate floor?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I'd love to learn more about the laminate floor!

A: Hello! Thank you for your question! This flooring is actually NuCore brand LVP from Floor and Decor. It came in two color options of 48" x 7" planks. In this kitchen remodeled, I installed the Lineage Grey color. It has a nice matte texture and worked great for my clients that before the renovation had lived with a sheet vinyl kitchen floor for 20 years and did NOT want porcelain/ceramic tile or hardwood. So a waterproof, good-quality LVP was a great option! link to the Floor and Decor NuCore Floor pictured

**Q: countertop details** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello there, Can you tell me what is the material of the countertop and the name of the stone. Thank you!

A: Hello! Yes, thank you for asking. The countertop material in this kitchen is manufactured Quartz Calacatta Lago. This material is mostly a white background with gray undertones and gray-blue veining. This countertop looks great in kitchens where my clients want navy blue cabinet accents but I have also used it in kitchens with no navy cabinets, like the kitchen I did under My Projects named "Storm (AF-700) Gray Painted Cabinets with Warm Natural Walnut Accents". That countertop is the same Calacatta Lago as this kitchen.
