Here at Gusto! we look for the spark.  The one thing each project has that makes it unique and different from all other projects.  Sometimes it's a subtle detail, sometimes it's a bold change, but in every project there is a spark.

We believe that the practice of architecture is a craft. Just as with handmade objects, each of our projects is inherently different and bears the imprint of those involved in its creation. While a similar vocabulary may be used - steel, concrete and wood - each design is a specific response to a site and to our client's needs.

We use hand drawings, sketches and 3-D models to explore ideas with our clients and we continue to do this, along with computer drawings, until the project's completion. We believe that drawing by hand helps us stay connected to the human elements of architecture - scale, proportion and detail - that make our designs resonate.

At Gusto! we work closely with the homeowners and craftspeople to create the best possible finished product.   Our hope is that everyone takes pride in the end result because they have all played an important role in the process of creating a space that meets the homeowner's needs and lifts their spirits.

Were the floors original?  If not, could you share what flooring was used?

A: Thanks. Glad you like the floor.  The flooring is engineered walnut 4" wide (maybe 5" ).  Sanded and finished in place.

**Q: I love this kitchen design!!!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Just wondering,  what was the order of installation (cabinet, support post, or counter)? Your design looks seamless and I have a similar prob in my kitchen.

A: It was post, cabinet, template, post out, counter, post in, ceiling. The cabinet might have gone in before the post but the real steel had to be in before the template for the counter top was made.

I am in the process of designing my own kitchen and it will also need a beam. I would love to incorporate the metal beam that you have here. What are the dimensions and where can I find it?

A: Hi. This is a standard 3 or 4" steel pipe that was made in 2 pieces with an interior sleeve at the splice to serve as the connector. It is an all custom detail.

A: Hi Paula, the pendant is from Cedar and Moss.  Alto Pendant, clear glass, polished nickel finish, 12" diameter over the island, 8" over the sink.  Thanks for asking!
