> Michelle did an amazing job! She started working with us when we were just getting started with a build in Suncadia. We gave her a bit of input on the look we were going for and she ran with it. We were impressed with her ability to pull together the look throughout the entire house from design, finishes and furniture. Michelle is very professional, worked great with our builder and made our vision a reality. We love our new home. Thank you Michelle!

> Michelle participated in every aspect of the design of our home, from kitchen workflow and bathroom layouts to cabinet, tile and paint selections to furniture review and placement. She has a vast knowledge of materials and finishes. Michelle consistently helped us stay on track and within budget to accomplish our desired final design. She provided the vision and execution we needed in working with our contractor to resolve various issues that came up during our project.
> Michelle was the consistent voice of reason. Her involvement assured us that we would complete our remodel with the desired results. Michelle was unfailingly calm, methodical and reassuring, as well as diplomatic and kind.
> We are thrilled with our remodeled home and could not have accomplished it without Michelle's guidance.

> I loved working with Michelle Yorke. She has beautiful taste and a great design eye. She quickly “got” me and understood my taste. She was always open to my thoughts and requests and was patient when I was indecisive. My project was to furnish and decorate a new condo, which she did beautifully down to photo frames and soap dispensers. Working with Michelle seemed easy and stress-free compared with past design experiences I’ve had. She had great sources for furniture and other purchases. She worked seamlessly with my condo building personnel and outside contractors. Most important, Michelle is a nice, fun, positive person who is just a pleasure to work with. I will use her again for any future design work and I highly recommend her.

> Michelle exceeded my expectations! I hired her based on a recommendation from a client and couldn't be happier. Michelle helped us pick out all of our finishes, furnishings, and managed our renovation project from start to finish. She oversaw our builder and his subcontractors so the entire process was incredibly smooth and pain free. I am a busy real estate broker and I couldn't have done this without her. Michelle is the consummate professional, extremely detail orientated, responsive, calm and really listens to you! She is extremely talented and creative. My husband and I are thrilled with the results! I highly recommend Michelle for all your design needs.

> We had just finished a top to bottom remodel of our home and had 4,000sf to furnish and decorate. We didn't know where to start, so we spoke with a good friend at the Seattle Design Center, and he referred us to Michelle Yorke. We interviewed two designers, and after reviewing proposals we engaged Michelle with confidence. Hiring Michelle was one of the best decisions we made throughout the remodel process. Michelle was professional in every sense of the word. She was efficient, always considerate of our time, took time to understand our desires, knew where to go to procure everything (area rugs, window coverings, art work, furniture, etc), respectful of our budget and delivered a beautiful interior that we are thoroughly enjoying every day. We would always highly recommend Michelle Yorke.

**★★★★★ — Jamie Penrod, May 2019**

> I would highly recommend Michelle to anyone looking for a thoughtful designer that takes the time to really get down to what her clients desires are. She listened to all of my wants/needs and took those wishes and made them into a reality. Her understanding of what I wanted along with her expertise in functionality and design helped our family create a space that we have always dreamed of. She kept our budget in mind and gave us sound advice on appliances and the pros and cons of each idea we had. Thank you, Michelle for helping us to create the perfect space for your family!

**★★★★★ — Haley Plesnicher, Aug. 2018**

> I was nervous about our remodel design decisions, so I scheduled a Design Day session with Michelle. She did a great job putting us at ease and made some great suggestions. She was very organized, which I really appreciated since remodels can be hectic. At the end, I felt we had a good plan to move forward with. When our original backsplash material didn't work out I emailed Michelle for advice and even though it was past our session time she was very helpful and encouraging. I would definitely use Michelle's services again.

**★★★★★ — chris naismith, Feb. 2017**

> Michelle is a fantastic designer. She has a great taste level and really captured my style. She was also very realistic about budgets and kept me on track. I would highly recommend her. She is a true professional.

> I've worked worked with Michelle providing drawings for a number of her projects over the last few years. She is a pleasure to work with, and understands the importance of quality presentation materials to provide to her clients. Talented designers know that some projects require more work to convey their vision, and Michelle has no problem going the extra mile to make sure her clients have a clear understanding of their space. This is a hallmark of a truly invested Interior Designer.

> Michelle Yorke's abilities to give us outstanding quality design assistance were incredible. We had a long distance renovation 4 states away. We had only a few days to accomplish many goals I our visits to Wa. She made every moment count from meeting us at different businesses to choose all we needed, to keeping copious notes about our selections. Those notes were our salvation when our renovation went from months to well over a year because of a variety of setbacks. When a vendor hada question about our selection, Michelle had the answer in minutes! She also was very diplomatic when my husband and I did not agree ona choice. She was tremendous at remaining neutral and pointing out pros and cons. When we were out of town, Michelle would check on the work that was being done to give us updates and also to insure the quality of the workmanship. We highly recommend Michelle Yorke without any reservations. Don and Jeannie

> Professional in all respects, a pleasure to work with. Michelle paid great attention to all the details in the direction of our photo shoot.

**★★★★★ — johnsonknk, Nov. 2015**

> I highly recommend Michelle Yorke! She transformed our plain room into an amazing media room, which included space planning, cabinet design, lighting, and furniture and product selection. After spending some time in our home and asking all the right questions, she perfectly captured our style while helping us integrate some new colors that I wouldn't have thought of. She is easy to talk to, listens and cares about the finished product. You can tell she loves what she does. I will be hiring her again soon to do another room!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Rug size/colour/texture recommendations** *(in Home Decorating)*

Hi guys! Please help me find a nice rug that suits my living room interior. The armchair makes things a bit tricky, but I really love it. The room isn’t decorated yet, but I’m expecting a vintage silver floor lamp and lots of plants. Additionally, I'm considering hanging this mirror (it is pinkish). Thank you so much!

A: There are so many different rugs out there. You could easily go with a neutral colored rug, or a rug that has some of the colors from the chair in it. Below are a few different designs of ours with rugs ideas for you.

**Q: Decorating/Design Advice Needed for Mountain House Guest Room.** *(in Home Decorating)*

A: Here are a few bunk/twin bed designs we have completed for clients. You might find some of the decor useful. We also might suggest looking for a rug to cover the entire floor and a Roman shade for the window.

**Q: Suggestions for finishing this wall** *(in Home Decorating)*

I need help styling this wall. The basics are in place with the console and TV, but it looks incomplete. I lean toward a more minimal look, so I don't want a gallery wall or a lot of things on the console. But it definitely needs to be warmed up and finished. I'm having trouble knowing what to put on either side of the console. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

A: What about trying a tall plant on either side? You could even do some small baskets. Please see this design of ours below:

**Q: What should I do with my fireplace** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We’re in the middle of an unexpected full remodel after a flood and are finally getting close to the finish line. The one detail I’m still unsure about is the fireplace. Since it’s in the main living area, which opens to the kitchen, I’d like it to coordinate with the kitchen design. The island is painted SW Urbane Bronze. I’m considering taking the fireplace floor to ceiling and building it out about 4–5 inches from the wall, with either a floating wood mantel or a wraparound wood shelf. I’m torn on whether to use tile or stone, and whether it should be light or dark. Please excuse the construction mess in the photos! The flooring throughout will be McMillan Niobe. I have reached decision fatigue and am feeling the pressure of needing to make a decision ASAP so we can get back into our home. (Note: I am open to changing the media stand/ entertainment area, too.) ANY input and feedback is so appreciated!

A: You could look at matching the console/shelf to the cabinet wood in the kitchen, and then look at doing some sort of tile all the way up on the fireplace since it has already been demoed. A few designs of ours are below to help give you some ideas:

**Q: Sconce or pendant?** *(in Home Decorating)*

My king bed is centered on the window and ceiling fan, but they are not centered on the wall. The fan is at foot of bed about 7 feet from wall. The room is 14x16’. I want a clean minimalist aesthetic and assume that simple curtains are the way to go (instead of blinds). I What I am not sure about:

Is it “too much curtains” for the two windows so close to each other?
Pendant lights — With fan light, still OK or too many hanging objects?
If pendant lights, is there any benefit to having curtains run along entire length of wall?
Sconce or pendant, any preference and why?

I’m not adamantly opposed to lamps on night stand, but thought sconce or pendant would give a more minimalist look. Plus I will likely have a desk lamp on the dresser.

A: You might try Roman shades on the window and then you could easily do sconces on either side of the bed. Sconces would be easier to change out and update than pendant lights. You could also do some slim modern lamps if that might appeal to you. Below are a few of our designs showing some sconces and lamps that could work for your bedroom.

**Q: STYLE & FURNITURE PARALYZED!** *(in Home Decorating)*

How to achieve light airy yet cozy feel that's not southern or farmhouse. I like style similar to what I see in nashville a touch of velvet or leathee but also like coastal vibes for light staycation feel. We just built modest transitional home with open floor plan in a suburban GA town.

A: Here are just a few layout ideas for you for you space, along with some furniture recommendations. Please notice the leather and velvet pieces specifically:
