My wife and I are both in the Army and being stationed at Fort Lewis. As these things can be very stressful I decided to surprise her when we get there with a house that is completely set up. Normally we would have to get there and unpack all of our belongings and put things where they need to be. A time consuming, exhausting and stressful venture to say the least. I was not at all familiar with what interior designers have to offer so I looked on Google, found Keith Miller, and decided it wouldn't hurt to send an email to see if he would be interested in helping with my project. From the very first email, he has been nothing but helpful and professional. We discussed a few main points and then I realized I needed to let him know I was on a pretty firm budget to get the things that we discussed accomplished. He tailored our discussions accordingly, told me what he could do for my money but more importantly didn't treat me any differently when he realized I couldn't spend money recklessly. After what seemed to be 100 emails and a few phone calls and texts, Keith went to the property I will be moving to so he could scope out the situation. I sent him a list of measurements of our furniture along with a quick video so he could see what he would have to work with. The carpet is a sumptuous 100% wool medium-to-large blended loop pile from Antrim, called Otto. We selected Rich Fawn for color. TY A: Hi, there! Okay, here's what I know about this artist: The red blossoms are by Linda Warren. She is a well known local artist in Oklahoma City. She is primarily a painter and I'm not sure how much sculpture she does but commissions are always a possibility. Keith **Q: Sustainable for whom?** *(in Photo Questions)* Are you aware of the value of the minerals in those deer antlers to the soil in the fields where they fell off? In BLM territory, it's a crime to remove those antlers from the field where they dropped. Since people who do not educate themselves on this take them, Rangers now pick them up, grind the antlers down into dust, and sprinkle that where the antlers were found. The Atts& Crafts Movement was in part about being in harmony with our environment. Can that be expressed in the design by not robbing the environment of what it needs to harmonize? A: Erika, you're a dream. I am always so grateful for the guidance of specialists. Aiming to operate in this industry with the highest standards of sustainability and stewardship is just plain hard sometimes. We do our very best to think through what's really important and strive to inspire our vendors to look earthward at every turn. Yeah, this room has some universal appeal - and it's luxurious! My clients laugh about how often they find reasons to excuse themselves from the rest of the house just to be here. :D Benjamin Moore is a favorite brand. Natura is their finest quality VOC free paint. It's amazing for the walls. Aura is awesome, too. Satin Impervo is still the best for trim. I used a cleanable eggshell sheen for the walls and a classic semi-gloss for the millwork and doors. Be careful with gray. I could have sworn some of the other shades I was considering would have won out, but the light in this space along with the medium charcoal tones in the painted furniture called for the hue we selected. I've never used it before, and it was perfect for this room. It seems every designer has their go-to white for trim. I employed mine on this project. Whether the space is traditional, transitional or contemporary, when you need a soft tone, this white wins every time. Walls: 2121-20 Steel Wool Trim: HC-27 Monterey White **Q: What company are the banquets / settees from?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Thanks for asking, Dawn. These two vintage '30's gems were resurrected from the back of an upholstery shop in the late '80's, but don't lose heart! We love making pieces from scratch inspired by history.
