> As a real estate broker it is critical for my recommendations of services to my clients to be exceptional, as my reputation is riding on it. My recommendation of Joanne to my seller was a such a blessing. She is a true professional with an exceptional talent for color and design. Joanne transformed spaces into works of art. Both my client and myself couldn't have been more pleased and I will always feel confident referring Joanne to any of my clients, as I know they will be getting the best service possible.

**Comment from Home Staging by SPC:**

> Barbara thank you so much for the kind words. It was a pleasure to work with you. You are one of the most proactive and energetic real estate brokers I have seen in a long time. You went above and beyond for your client to get his house marketed in the best possible light. I would be very confident referring you as well. Thank you again.

> Joanne staged my home because we're preparing to sell. Our listing realtors saw how it looked prior to her staging and then right after she finished. They were quite impressed. They were convinced she had made all the right decisions. Joanne made my home so beautiful I wish I weren't selling. Or at least I wish I had it looking it like this for my own personal enjoyment! Joanne has a great eye for color, arrangement of furniture, wall displays, and just making a home look its absolute best. As I look on line for my next home I can tell who had a stager work with them and who choose to allow their home to be photographed without staging. All I can say is I'm glad I had help preparing my home to be sold. Joanne made it look fabulous.

**Comment from Home Staging by SPC:**

> robsondi, thank you so much for the kind words. It was a pleasure helping you prepare your home for the market. It is a beautiful home and I know it will sell quickly.

**★★★★★ — A Beautiful Staged Home and The Colorful Bee, Dec. 2014**

> Joanne is a consummate professional and she is such an asset to homeowners, realtors and real estate investors. Not only a talented decorator, home stager and color specialist, Joanne's knowledge of the construction industry allows her to give clients sage advice when it comes to updating or renovating a property for sale. Sometimes just a small detail, like adding a portico to the front entrance, can net a home seller more money and less days on market. (Joanne suggested this recently and the home sold 1 day after the Open House).

**★★★★★ — lorrainehart, June 2012**

> Home Staging by SPC provided staging services to prepare my home for sale. Their services were amazing. Joanne and her team knew exactly what had to be done to make my house attractive to potential buyers. Prior to staging, my real estate agent said my house looked dated. After the staging and needed repairs were done, my real estate agent literally jumped for joy.
>
> As a result of the work done by Home Staging by SPC, my house sold in just 8 days for a very good price. I truly believe that if it were not for Joanne and Home Staging by SPC, the selling process would have been long and drawn out.
>
> I highly recommend that anyone wanting to sell their home or stage it for any other reason, use Home Staging by SPC.

**Comment from Home Staging by SPC:**

> Thank you so much for the vote of confidence Lorraine. It was a pleasure working with you. Staging your house enabled the buyers to really see all the potential of a great home for their family. Thanks again and good luck in your new home.

  - Description: This house languished on the market for over a year. As it sat vacant, the pipes froze and burst ruining all the wood flooring on the first floor. The Investor called us in. The first order of business was to give the home some curb appeal, so we had a portico added, black shutters installed and the front door painted Benjamin Moore's Classic Burgundy. We then selected a new wood look ceramic tile floor to run throughout the first floor since the house was on a slab. We then furnished the home g…

In real estate everyone talks about bathrooms and kitchens, but do not underestimate the impact, positive and negative, bedrooms can have when showing a property. Master bedrooms should be elegant, have a commanding presence and be a refuge for the masters of the house, no matter what size it is. The secondary bedrooms should demonstrate the ability to comfortably fit a bed, dresser and nightstand. The traffic flow mo…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Cowhide rug in foyer?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have fallen in love with this patchwork cowhide rug! I want to make a statement in my new foyer (house will be completed in December) and when I saw this rug, I thought it would be perfect. However, whatever rug I choose, it will have to withstand daily use, rain and snow, and maybe in the future a puppy.

A: Beautiful rug, but not for a busy space! Hope you can use it somewhere else.

**Q: where can i get this tile** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I am not sure where the investor got this tile, but it is pretty common here on Long Island. You can get it at most tile showrooms.

**Q: My new house is so dark, need advice to enhance natural light** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We recently moved into a new house in the Florida Keys and quickly realized that due to the orientation of the house, wooded lots on either side, and few windows, there is very little natural light coming into the house. Having the lights on all day is depressing me! The only windows facing the front (west) are in the master bedroom. The kitchen/great room backs onto the garage and only has windows to the south facing one of the wooded lots. The front door faces west and is solid wood, so we have already decided to replace with a glass one to let in more light. I'm thinking my only solution is to install a couple of skylights, but the one quote I received so far is very expensive... I plan to hang mirrors in strategic spots, but there aren't many. Any suggestions o get me out of the dark would be much appreciated.

A: Hello Jilliehj, Solatubes are great and can be put just about anywhere. More importantly though, I would change the countertop to a lighter natural stone that would help reflect more natural light. I would also paint the walls a soft light color, a color that would pull pigment from the new stone countertop. Elements play off one another and your ceiling and countertop are playing off each other and both are absorbing light and not reflecting it. I would recommend a color, but it is hard to tell from the pictures what would work with the rest of your decor.
It looks like you have high ceilings, install ceiling fans with wide leaf shaped blades. You can get them with blades that are white or light color. This will also help reflect light from the ceiling and maintain the island feel. Would ceilings can work as long as your pay attention to the rest of the elements in the room and focus on light reflection.
You may also want to consider a new front door. A mirror on the wall adjacent to the front entry door will also help especially if you install a door with some glass in it. A mirror over the couch would work or there are some great wall art pieces that are made of metal that would also reflect light. You can pick them up in Home Goods or Pier One (or order on line).
Hope these suggestions help. Send pictures when you start making changes!
Joanne

**Q: Are your dogs allowed on the couch/bed?** *(in Polls)*

Do you let your dogs sit with you on the couch or sleep with you on the bed?

Cast your vote below and tell us your stories! Photos? Post them too!

A: Where else would they sit and sleep?
This message is doggie approved!

**Q: Combining 2 different styles, I love both!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi how can I successfully combine classic style with farmhouse? I love the classic look of molding and panelling in the lounge, but right next to it I want to make the kitchen farmhouse style with vertical or horizontal beadboard from floor to ceiling. I don't want to use just one style for the whole house as I think I will get sick of it. Would this look weird? How can I do it so it looks good? We are building new.

A: Don't forget to post pictures when you are done with the project.

**Q: what is the wal tile** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Caflarry, I believe that was a 6 x 6 Picasso Travertine and the floor is a 12 x 12 Picasso Travertine.
