After two initial informative consultations with Ruthann Capozzi at her beautiful Kitchen studio in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, we decided to entrust the project to the Capozzi Design Group. Together with her husband Kevin, chief project manager, Ruthann brought in her long time experience, technical knowledge and excellent sense of design to completely reconfigure our somewhat cramped kitchen space. She suggested removing several beams and moving back a wall. Reluctant as I was at first, Ruthann convinced me (and my husband sided with her) that it was the right thing to do! By so doing, she created an inviting, open, « contemporary » space, while preserving the farmhouse feel we liked by keeping some beams around the periphery of the kitchen. And there was room for a spacious pantry as well! Thanks to her vision and suggestions, we now have a lovely, spacious transitional kitchen, equipped with white custom-made cabinetry, a white hood, white quartz counters, a soft tan-colored tile backsplash complementing « champagne » colored hardware. As a contrast to the white cabinetry, Ruthann suggested a walnut-topped rustic island in a pretty shade of grey which stands out beautifully against the new grey and white tile floor. Following her advice, we opted for upscale energy-efficient appliances, including a Wolf cooktop and matching ovens accented with red knobs.
