> The work was to repair existing EPDM roof surface on our 2nd floor balcony. Also to remove and replace wooden railing with aluminum railing on the balcony. The aluminum railing needed to be mounted to the roof deck through roof penetration fasteners and mastic. The work was done punctually and professionally. His work estimate ("bid") was transparent: it outlined material cost, labor and overhead, without a "hard sell" or price reduction games. We trusted Mr. Bagnol with the key to our home, since the work was done while we were away. He called for my input on one issue.

> We have used Residential Resurrections for several projects and have always been pleased with the results.
> In the last year or so he has replaced both our front and back porches and they look great.

> Residential Resurrections has done a number of jobs at our home always in a timely manner and at a reasonable price. Work has been done to our mud room, kitchen, basement. The mud room was updated with new cabinets and storage. Electrical work was done in kitchen and basement in addition to other odd jobs throughout the house. We always call Residential Resurrections when we need work done because we know the owner is dependable and knowledgeable.

**★★★★★ — Kathryn Barrett, Dec. 2018**

> Residential Resurrections was recommended by our realtor when we bought our condo. We had a lot of different work done from redirecting our garage stairs, power washing and staining our deck, to the huge job of removing old epoxy and applying new epoxy. We were not disappointed! I highly recommend Residential Resurrections.

> Great work! I had Bob put in a new entry door and 3 storm doors over the last year - even when things got messy with rotten wood on the entry door, he stuck with it and did the repair right before proceeding. His prices were good even when I hadn't confirmed beforehand.

> As a homeowner sometimes it is hard to make decisions because you don't know how it's going to turn out. Bob was very patient and invited me to his resources and help me make good decisions Bob took the worry out of the project and walk me through the process

> After experiencing a horrific flood in our basement we began to look into getting someone to help do the construction and repairs. We were very pleased with Bob Bagnall as he was prompt, honest and hard working. He came through everytime we needed him and in such a time of crisis, it was appreciated. We recommend Bob for any of your services. Our basement looks great and was well carefully done quickly!

> Residential Resurrections did an excellent job on my new kitchen. They helped me through the initial design process and accompanied me to chose my cabinets and lay-out. As they worked on the remodeling, they kept me up with what needed to be done next, i.e. chose tile, chose fixtures, etc. They did a wonderful job on all the installation.s They gave me some great ideas and were always up to any challenge I threw at them. The backsplash tile installation was just plain fantastic as was the ceramic floor tile work. Everyone who sees my kitchen is amazaed at the great job they did. Thank you Residential Resurredtions for the BEATUTIFUL ONE-OF-A-KIND KTICHEN!

> I needed help finishing off a half bath and word of mouth led me to Bob. His work is as amazing as his personality. He was always on time, if not early, and always ready to work. We would discuss the previous days work and the plan for the day. I liked that because it kept me informed on the progress or any issues that arose. The job was finished in a more than timely matter even though my house is old, therefore revealing troubles here and there. Now I utilize Bob as my maintenance guy for my business. I can call upon him any time for emergencies or to have him walk me through something. I highly recommend him for any projects you may have.

> Bob Bagnall, owner of Residential Resurrections, left my wife and I totally pleased with 2 major renovations he did for us -- our kitchen/eating area and a full bath. Both required getting down to the studs and base floor. Bob helped us figure out how best to meet our functional requirements. He provided options and worked with us to come up with the best solutions for our budget. HIs suggestions led us to options we wouldn't have thought about, and we love them now that we are living with them.
>
> Bob and his team were extremely competent and pleasant to work with. Their workmanship was outstanding, and they were all very trustworthy. He willingly arranged for all materials, and gave us excellent advice on fixtures, tile, cabinetry and countertops (materials, brands and sources) that we needed to select ourselves.

**★★★★★ — nross1, Oct. 2012**

> Robert Bagnall, owner of Residential Resurrections, has completed two major renovations for me in the past two years. The first included complete remodel of two bathrooms with extensive tile and granite work as well as electrical and plumbing upgrades. Expanding to the perimeter wall allowed for installation of a seat in the shower and a "to die for" network of jets, rain head, and hand-held shower tools.
>
> The latest, work done between May and August, 2012 included installation of hardwood floors across the entire second floor and added crown molding, and painting in two bedrooms and an office. Extensive electrical upgrades in the office entailed drywall revisions to provide for added wiring and appropriate placement of outlets.
>
> Bob is heavily invested in his company, which means he has the right tools for every job. He consults regularly with the client and often has suggestions that enhances the original design idea. He works well with employees, is a perfectionist, and carefully monitors the work assigned to others. Bob's engineering background, and wealth of experience assures total satisfaction with his work. The proof is seen in the fact that Bob is always busy, and clients, like me, who always have another project for Bob may have to take a place in the queue for when Bob is again available.
>
> I am happy to give an excellent rating to Robert Bagnall and Residential Resurrections.

> Residential Resurrections or "Bob the Builder" as he is listed in my IPhone is one of those contractors/builders you would be happy to meet or stumble upon in the Oakland and Macomb Counties.
>
> Bob works in Michigan and he and I have discussed, debated and detailed out his last linear shower build together - that and many other subjects on shower construction over the past 18 months. I love talking with tile guys and builders - I do this a lot and can say with every confidence that Bob is a true Pro. Always looking out for the client and working with materials he can stand behind and offer up a fantastic finished job.
>
> I would not hesitate in recommending Bob to anyone in Michigan and list him as a recommended installer on my city by city linear drain installer blog site.
>
> If your planning a new shower renovation or barrier free shower project look for a builder with a team behind him. A builder with a background in topical waterproofing, flood testing, framing and back framing. A builder like "Bob"

## Community Q&A

**Q: I hate my new island top. how can I improve this?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I definitely want a butcher block island countertop. Our gutted and remodeled kitchen is almost complete and the butcher block countertop selected by my contractor was just put in...and I hate it! Every other piece along the way took my breath away but this just bombs for me.
How can I make this better?

A: strip (& bleach with oxalic acid)
and restain (dye, such as Transtint in alcohol) a weathered gray , reseal wih mineral oil

**Q: great attention to detail!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Which Schluter profile was used around the niche? thank you

A: Looks like they used it at the wall top, also, instead of bullnose. Very nice details.

**Q: What to use for shower floor?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm using the shower in this picture (sorry, I don't own it) as inspiration for a new shower in our home. I can't do the whole shower (36"x36") in the fan title that I love, so I'm just doing the one wall and subway on the other walls, just like this picture. Though, I might go with a darker grout.

But what do I use on the shower floor? If I zoom in really close to this picture they've used white hexagon, which is too many different patterns for my taste. Can subway tile be used on the floor? or should I look into getting a shower base?

I'm new on here, and just looking for ideas and inspiration. Thanks!

A: 1 or 2 inch hex unglazed floor tiles are a traditional pairing with subway tiles. I would reccomend the nearly impervious acrylic grouts, such as Mapei's Flexcolor. No sealing, mildew resistant. Give it a good 24 hours drying (with ventilation) for wet areas, before putting in use. You won't believe how easy it is to remove haze, compared to cement based grouts

**Q: Love the sky light! But how will it hold up ove** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love the sky light! But how will it hold up over time with all the moisture from the shower?

A: I used a hidden vent ducted to adjacent bedroom (the bath has a cathedral ceiling with skylight over shower). The fan has a settable humidity control that will cycle the
fan as needed. If set low enough, it eliminates moisture and mildew all year.

**Q: tile?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What type of tile was used on the bathroom wrap?

A: This is a brown marble, most commonly known as Emperador. It comes in a range of shades, from light to dark. Be sure to get +20%, both for color matching as well as breakage. It's beautiful but highly polished, so extreme caution is needed by the user for floor installs.

**Q: How do i make these steps?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you tell me how to make these?

A: They were made by first locating the posts in concrete. Joist hangers were then located across the fronts of the steps. Each step was made like a small deck, the platforms were built of treated 2x8 and filled in so there was a maximum of 16inches on center. Finally, the risers and deck boards of a composite decking were installed.
