**★★★★★ — Gordon Drysdale, July 2016**

> The team at Zack/de Vito worked with me on my eponymous restaurant, Gordon's House of Fine Eats, in San Francisco, and I could not have been more pleased. We worked together from the ground up, from creation of original vision to execution of the last detail, and it was an experience that was at once relaxing, invigorating, educational and fun. The process was enjoyable, and the final result won us an AIA Award! What's not to like?!

**★★★★★ — James Maxwell, June 2016**

> I used Zack/De Vito for my ground up project in Bernal Heights. They were actually the second architecture firm we hired. We already had our permit, but wanted something different. We Completely reworked the project and ended up with a new permit and more than we could have expected. Our property was featured on the 2012 AIA Home Tour and we are still enjoying it. I would recommend Jim and Lise to anyone who wants quality.

**★★★★★ — Kevin Reher, June 2016**

> My project, a duplex on a 45 degree downslope in two directions was a challenge from the start. Jim Zack was very collaborative; thoughtful and creative as he guided me through the many challenges with the site; the neighbors and the maze that is San Francisco Planning and Building agencies.

**★★★★★ — Muratore Construction + Design, June 2013**

> Jim and I collaborated on a project in downtown San Francisco. He played the architect role to fine tune the space plan and provide key drawing details for the minimal authentic needed. I look forward to future projects with his firm.

## Community Q&A

**Q: what is the brand of the structure?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Good solution that i search

A: Custom design, custom made. It is standard wood frame walls with clear sealed, rift white oak panels.

**Q: overhang for patio** *(in Photo Questions)*

what do you call the rods that supporting the overhang ?

A: no real specific name, they are just support rods, either solid steel or stainless steel with threaded ends or sometimes tubes, with fittings on each end to connect to the supports and the awning. We typically spec hardware from McMaster Carr. www.mcmaster.com

**Q: Acrylic railings** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am trying to get details and estimate Iof an acrylic railing in Long Island NY

A: The railings are glass with steel posts, all custom, The stair terads are sanded acrylic, we order 1" acrylic form a large wholesale supplier, sold in 4x8 sheets, cut to size by the supplier then sand and drill on site. I do not have any unit cost data.

**Q: What are the upper and lower deck rail systems made from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Both are custom design and fabrication. The upper deck has stainless steel posts made of "T's" and flat bar and tempered glass. The lower rail has similar posts and 16 ga steel perforated sheet. Both have wood caps.

**Q: Where can I get the narrow wood siding?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the wood siding that looks like beadboard. I live in Kansas. Where could I get this?

A: Hi,

This is a custom milled cedar siding of our own design. We based it on a style sold by a local lumber yard, Beronio Lumber. Here is there siding catalog. It is similar to the K200 profile but we make the reveal larger.

https://www.beronio.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Beronio\_Cedar\_Catalog.pdf

**Q: what marble is used on the walls?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I believe this was a Calacatta marble.
