> Donna did a great job for me picking paint colors, redesigning the kitchen / lighting layout and a couple of other design details that I would not have thought of, all for a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend her business.

> We retained Donna to help with the design for a complete makeover of our home, including a total tear out and remodel of the kitchen and bathroom. We found her services to be invaluable and we could have never done the job without her help. Where we already had specific ideas, Donna would offer suggestions to make the ideas better. Sometimes we had no idea what to do, and she was very good about coming up with one or more great suggestions. Our project took over a year from the time we started and she was always available to help throughout the project.

> I was looking to do something in our bedroom and Donna gave me several wonderful ideas. I she sent me pictures of the different ideas she came up with so that I had a visual. Very nice. I really liked the rope design that was put in a frame to hang above the bed. Donna made it for me and it turned out wonderful.

> Donna was an absolute pleasure to work with. She incorporated all our requests into the design and had perfect suggestions for details. Her eye for color and use of space is outstanding.

  - Description: The client had an inspiration photo from a magazine. The draperies alone would have cost $1200. I was able to find a similar design and style for a fraction of the price. A little paint and new bedding, and I was able to create a comfortable, serene retreat space for this couple on a budget.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Anjy suggestions for flooring type for second floor?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We live on the ocean and need new flooring for bedrooms and hall on second floor. I am torn between laminate (good for sand, etc.) hard wood (reviews say it scratches easily) and carpeting. All walls are white and would prefer one type throughout the second floor. Any suggestions, pro and con as far as ease of cleaning (number one on my list) and durability with salt air, humidity, sand, etc?

A: I think porcelain tile is a great option. Extremely durable, Doesn't scratch and definitely easy to clean. And better yet, there are several companies who make tile that looks like wood. You get the best of both worlds.

**Q: Bedroom Decor, Color scheme, window treatments** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello!

This week i am finishing the paint job and Next week I will buying the flooring (and doing prep work) for the bedroom I will be staying in. First, let me tell you that I am a (going back after the first go around) college student with a full time job. I don't make much, and I am by all means not an interior designer.
Second, I am unsure of my "style". I am looking for a space that is calming, and Indian style-ish? Not quite sure how to describe it. I like greens, Grays, Teals, Mixed with a little of warm red. ( do these colors even work together? haha )
Third, I'm looking for all around advice from color scheme to furniture, art, rugs, etc. (I lean towards black furniture)

The space is small (about 130 Sq feet, with a small walk in closet) and 1 window.

Any advice is welcome, just keep that college student budget in mind ;)

(hooked on the bedding pictured)

A: As a designer who tries to Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose and Refurbish, you might go to your local Habitat for Humanity Restore or a Second Hand Store to look for a used desk. Or perhaps find a couple of small cabinets and a piece of countertop that will fit your needs. You can always paint them to match or accent the decor of your room. There's lots of fun and creative things you can do, even get a couple of old suitcases and stack them up beside your bed for a side table. Good luck

**Q: what color is the pai** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: ColorPlace's Magical Oasis 10703 (from Walmart)
