In one week's time, the house was gutted, rebuilt and expanded so that the family could come back home, and the boy could have his own room. When I learned about this effort, I pitched in and painted a mural to cheer him up. They did a major renovation on our house about 7 years ago and went above and beyond what was required. Added hurricane clips to the new roofs because they knew that they would soon be required as per town code (but were not yet), put a second sliding glass door in an area at their own expense (even though I wanted to reuse one but they knew it would not match the new one that they added somewhere else). Made sure that I had a sink to wash dishes in and a stove to cook dinner on every night because we lived in the house during the renovation. Accommodated changes made during the renovation and were happy to make recommendations when I needed advice.
