> I highly recommend Green Mountain Construction. We needed to renovate our new house from out of state so having a great contractor was essential. Rob Johnson and Jessica Ammons did an amazing job. They had excellent design ideas and Jessica’s project management skills are outstanding. Despite being 300 miles away, I was fully informed about the progress being made and Jessica never hesitated to reach out with questions and suggestions. Rob was very transparent and professional with the budget. Although the budget ended up being more than originally expected, I fully understood the reasons behind the increases and my options. Finally, I didn’t believe Rob’s aggressive timeframe for the job figuring that we would have the inevitable delays but his team delivered. Rob’s relationships with his sub contractors are outstanding and that made all the difference. We are thrilled with our beautiful new home and the high quality of the materials and workmanship and are very thankful that we chose Green Mountain Construction to be our partner.

> In the spring of 2015, we embarked on what felt like an enormous project with Green Mountain Construction; our goal was to build a two story home, with a basement and separate garage, on an undeveloped, partially wooded lot. From the initial meeting, Rob Johnson proved this would be a relationship and process filled with great energy, clear communication, expertise, and a willingness to hear exactly what we wanted. He, his crews, and vendors have all exceeded our expectations. They have been respectful, knowledgeable, and willing to help in decision making when asked, while equally happy to create and produce what we envisioned. This was not a small undertaking; Rob's eye for detail is extraordinary, though his focus on big picture never faltered. We collaborated, sharing images, sources, and ideas. Rob was able to see our big picture goals and help fill in the gaps, guiding us, yet never taking control away from us. He provided schedules and updated budgets throughout the process and met with us frequently making certain we were on the same page, and clearly outlined what decisions lay ahead. He provided contacts for all areas, but was equally willing to allow us to shop outside his preferred list. I've been struck by how important leadership is in building, while also realizing the contractor is only as good as his crew. Green Mountain Construction is filled with hard workers who take pride in their work. We would hire GMC again, in a heart beat.

> We had a wonderful experience with Green Mountain Construction. They completed a master suite addition and a front porch for our home both of which exceeded our expectations. Both their professionalism and the quality of their work are remarkable. They took great care to minimize the impact of the work on our day to day routine and were extremely efficient and thoughtful as they scheduled the work. We love the new spaces they created for us and have already hired them to work on another project in our home.

**★★★★★ — Patricia Knight, June 2015**

> Green Mountain Construction's client service and business ethic: Exemplary. Final products: Exceptional. Customer satisfaction: Could not be higher. If we could sum up our experience in short, this would be it; however, that would be doing Rob Johnson and his team an injustice because they surpassed our expectations at every turn while working with them for over a year. We can't recommend GMC highly enough.

> We hired GMC in order to design and build a custom garage for us as well as complete major internal and external home renovations on our farmhouse (c.1850) in Ivy, VA. We were very impressed with Rob's broad industry knowledge, relationships in the local market and building expertise, but we were very specifically impressed with his commitment to customer co-creation. In our opinion, his exceptional, hands-on, collaborative approach to his work is the heart of why he stands out so far from the rest. His end products have "you - the customer" woven into them, which for us, started with generously giving us the resources we needed to make informed decisions about style, quality of materials, budget and advantages/disadvantages of using one product over another so that we felt good about our material choices. We were so overwhelmed by how many decisions we had to make, but his steady guidance felt so supportive. It continued with interactive decision making. This often involved prototyping aspects of a project so that we could see exactly how an end product might look or connecting us directly with a vendor to better understand specific style choices. It finished with timely execution on deliverables by his talented and dedicated team.
>
> GMC exceeded our expectations in every way. We give them an 11 out of 10. We could not be happier with our home. If you are considering building or remodeling, Rob Johnson is absolutely the contractor with whom you should work. Run, don't walk.

> Took our dream from disaster to wonderfully complete. Fired our contractor after 2 years. Rob and his GMC team came to our rescue! Home is vacation place, in remote part of Blue Ridge. GMC took over the project, found hidden problems I was able to verify with my structural engineer, and did a terrific job bringing the project to completion. Never did I hear gripes about the other fellow, GMC work and the work of subs was top notch. Best on quality and speed, exceeded my expectations at every turn. Punchlist was less than a doze items. Scope was post drywall, it some had to be pulled and replaced due to structure deficiencies. Fixing doors, windows, installing 2700sqft of tile and hardwood flooring, appliances, paint, and replace the improperly installed roofing gutters. Highly recommended, they saved us.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Paint color** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please tell me the color of yellow this is?

A: I apologize, but I don't know the color and cannot find it in our records. This house was built before I started working with Green Mountain Construction.

**Q: Love the sliding door hardware! Can you tell me where purchased?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I see that there are several sliding doors using barn door type of track through out the house. Very cozy!

A: Hi there, sorry for the late reply... this hardware was found on Etsy and purchased by the homeowner, so I do not have specific details. Thank you for your comments.

**Q: Stone used for Island and perimeter counters** *(in Photo Questions)*

What stone is used for the island. It looks like soapstone. I'm interested in whether you client has trouble with water spots. I'm considering Virginia Mist as an alternative. The kitchen is terrific!

A: This is soapstone and we just recently installed honed virginia mist in a newer project. Soapstone is much softer, will scratch and hold onto oil spots, but I am not sure about water spots. I recommend the virginia mist, it's beautiful. Sorry for the late reply.

**Q: Storage/space saver** *(in Photo Questions)*

Absolutely gorgeous! Where can I go to purchase this exact piece?

A: Unfortunately, I am unsure of this answer. I believe the homeowners found this on their own and it was a few years ago. I apologize for the delay in reply.

**Q: cabinet color and finish** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I am so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I am unsure of this color as it was before my time at GMC and we do not have record of it.

**Q: What brand of tile is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What type of tile is this and where can it be purchased?

A: I do not believe it is available anymore… the only info I have is that they are Bati Pebbles. Thanks!
