> We had Mike refinish our downstairs bathroom a couple years ago and we were so impressed with the work he did that we recently had him do our master bath. Because he has done work for us before, we already knew Mike is the best at tile and we could expect top quality work, and he did not disappoint! We absolutely love our bathroom!! We used both glass and porcelain tile and it’s obvious he is extremely skilled with the different types of tile. Mike is so meticulous and he pays attention to every detail. He is a perfectionist when it comes to his work. I’m horrible at making decisions and he was so patient and helpful, and once I finally decided on something he was happy to make it exactly like I wanted it. He made sure I was happy with every little thing along the way and he was great at offering suggestions to make it look the absolute best. He’s honest and friendly and very easy to work with and talk to. Simply put, if you’re looking for the best, go with Maxim Tile! You will not be disappointed!! Well worth the money and the wait!

> Mike is awesome! He does amazing work, No short cuts with him. He shows up when he says he will and most importantly he always stays on budget with the bid he gives you. He’s honest and great to work with. I highly recommend him!

> Mike Knuz is not just a professional tile contractor, but a true artisan as well. Our master shower started to leak and we thought we could retile it on our own, well… let’s just say that idea was full of false assumptions. The biggest one is that if you think you can do it better than anyone else—think twice.
>
> I am confident that if you need to replace a failed shower in a custom home, you HAVE to call Mike. You can get other bids and ask them what they will do, but then you should talk with Mike. You will see and hear the difference. Any tile work in a custom home requires not just high quality work, but creative and artistic integration into the home’s interior design. To do otherwise diminishes the quality of the rest of the home.
>
> Mike was very knowledgeable and provided us with information on what steps needed to be taken and exactly what he would do to finish the job right. After bidding the job with four other tile contractors it was an easy decision to hire Maxim Tile. He will answer all your questions and give you the best solutions to your tiling needs. His experience and professionalism shows in the high quality work that he delivers.
>
> Working with Mike was a pleasant experience. Mike is easy and friendly to work with. You will find you can trust him as he keeps to his word and schedule. He has a positive attitude, strong work ethic, is clean in his work (as any remodel can be.) He doesn’t smoke and does not use foul language. When he is done, you will not find a tile out of place.
>
> Thanks Mike for bringing our master shower up to standard with the rest of our home. If we need any future tile work, we will certainly call you.

> Mike did a fantastic job! It was done quickly and he was on time and the best part is it looks fabulous and I am confident he did it well.

> Mike prepared and tiled a large walk-in shower and bathroom floor for us as we finished our basement. His experience and attention to detail were evident throughout the process. We are very excited about the finished product and it looks great! We will definitely use Mike and Maxim Tile again and unequivicably recommend them to anyone. Price was very competitive, quality is outstanding, finished product is beautiful. Mike did all the work himself. He did not assign it out to a lesser skilled employee. And he came in under the budget we had set for the project.

> Chose this company after the good reviews and because Mike seemed really knowledgeable and to know what he was doing. Athough they weren't my cheapest quote, I'm glad I went with them. Mike was easy to get along with and did a great job replacing the tile in our small bathroom. He did it in a timely manner which was important since it was our rental property.

> We have thoroughly enjoyed the workmanship of Mike Kunz from Maxim Tile. We just completed a total remodel of our master bedroom and bath and it feels like a spa. He is professional and fun to work with. He is very creative and listens to the wants and needs of the customer. He offers advice from his experience and professionalism. We have had tile workers on projects in our home that lasted a few days and their lack of quality showed. A professional job, like Mike offers, takes time but the end result is noticeable.

> replaces bathtub with walk in shower
> They did a great job, I would use them again.
> Kept to their time schedule. and Posted it on the wall so you knew how they were doing.
> Mike is a master and takes pride in his craft, transitions were amazing from side wall to back wall.
> I will use him again.

> We needed to replace an old, junky fiberglass shower. Maxim Tile promptly returned my call, was quickly available for a quote (which was much more reasonable than others we'd gotten), and worked with our crazy schedules to get the project rolling. Their work is top quality. Really, they use the best materials and techniques. We had an odd shaped area that needed some creativity, and Mike came up with a great solution. He was very respectful, kept his work area clean, and I think by the time they finished the dogs were sad to see him go. The price came out to be very fair for the high quality shower we now have. You can certainly go get quotes from other installers, but you'll save time and have a great finished product if you just go with Maxim Tile.

**Comment from Maxim Tile:**

> Thank you Mike! It was great working with you two! It was a great choice going with the subway!

> Mike tiled the remodel of my bathroom. His quality of work and knowledge of colors and
> design were superior. He was professional and loves his work. I look forward to working with him again when I remodel my kitchen.

> Mike Kunz has been great to work with. As I was not the home owner, an interior decorator or a construction whiz, I needed help with design and choosing materials. At the very beginning, it was very helpful that he showed me a picture of a design idea. Later, he came up with an idea for a great accent stripe using the tile I had chosen for the floor of the shower and he took photos to aid me in choosing between a few variations. When I came up with another idea that was altogether different that I thought would save time and money, he was willing to do that too and he was a good sounding board as I talked through how that might look. So, what I'm trying to say here is that he was supportive in helping me arrive at a design that I would be happy with. His workmanship is great. I think the result is award-worthy. I wish I had photo files to attach. I'm sure he does.

**★★★★★ — LJ Kyser, June 2013**

> Maxim Tile did the tile in our bathroom with travertine and glass accents and we are extremely pleased with the quality of workmanship. They were thorough and precise and I love how it turned out! I didn't shop around at all, I don't think they are inexpensive but in this case you get what you pay for and I don't think anyone else could have done a better job.

## Community Q&A

**Q: how picky to be about tile work** *(in Design Dilemma)*

a contractor laid small hex tile for us today (12x12 mats.) there are some areas where the tiles are very close together, some far apart, and a couple spots where mortar is coming up between the tiles. wondering how picky I should be in this instance so as not to frustrate contractor on a task that is hard to undo.

A: As a Tile Contractor this would NOT happen, or be acceptable for any of our clients. This is unacceptable work. Without knowing the complete story I can see the layout was done incorrectly and very sloppy. Mosaics will have a few here and there that are not layed straight from the factory but they can be fixed prior to install and are never this bad... unless you are purchasing from closeout place that deals in seconds....
On the flip side this brings up a point to consider for future work... was the bid a competitive bid or was it extremely low. If it was low the installer could have been a new company and not had alot of time in the industry/doesn't have experience. We see/fix installs all the time like this, the Home owner gets a referral from a friend that their cousin does tile and its a "good deal" and it turns out to cost 4 or 5 times what one of our bids would have costed originally to fix the problems.
Best of luck getting this fixed.
Mike

**Q: Floor** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love shower floor. Can you tell me manufacturer and name? Is it difficult to maintain?

A: Hi Lori,
Thank you for the question. The pebbles are Onyx Orbitals from Zen Paradise http://www.zenparadise.net/ Like any stone they should be sealed and dried out regularly to prevent discoloration and deterioration. Hope this helps Mike
