### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Mike Castiglione, Dec. 2017**

> Harold and his team went above and beyond in the designing of Stiggs Brewery & Kitchen in Boyne City Michigan. A remodel of a historically registered building, following the federal guidelines, turning a rail road office building into a brewpub was no easy task for Design Team Plus. They did a great job and were able to help Stiggs obtain federal grant money to renovate an old building and turn it into a functional brewpub! It was excellent to have such a great crew work on a building that is over a 3 hour drive away! I would recommend Design Team Plus to anyone!

> I highly recommend Design Team Plus. Shari Stein was a big help to us in finding the right carpet to replace our family room area. She guided us on picking a carpet with a good quality fiber content at a reasonable price. She has a great eye for design and she is great to work with!

**★★★★★ — Sara and Tim Zwickl, Nov. 2017**

> Shari and Harold have been delightful to work with and quick to understand what we are looking for. They are very professional, return phone calls and emails promptly and are organized for meetings. We recommend them without hesitation.

**★★★★★ — Jim Dunn, Nov. 2017**

> Outstanding very responsive and professional i could not be more pleased. As issues arose they were addressed quickly and easily and the project moved forward without delay. Many unsolicited recommendations were made and accepted.

**★★★★★ — Fred Capaldi, June 2017**

> We have worked with Design Team Plus for about 4 years now and have found them to be very professional. Their team approach is very effective always keeping the interests of the client and contractor first and foremost. Their attention to detail, quick responsiveness, and their genuine interest in each and every project makes them a pleasure to work with. Working with them makes you feel that you are truly a Team member. Harold Remlinger is extremely knowlegable in all phases of design and construction. Shari Stein has the ability to listen to the Client and then create an interior environment that is exactly what the Client envisioned. Working with a firm that takes this team approach makes it much easier for both the Client and the Contractor to design and build more effectively and econonically.

> With Design Team Plus, you have a creative and experienced architect/builder in Harold. He is easy to work with and is tuned to pleasing the client. He is practical and will change directions when costs are growing in proportion to the project. He is very good at altering interior spaces to optimize the existing foot print of a house. Shari is equally creative and has suggestions that add those special touches to any room. She is also well connected and is a tremendous resource for local suppliers. It has been a pleasure working with both of them.

**★★★★★ — RYLN Construction Group, Dec. 2016**

> I have been working with Design Team Plus for almost 4 years now. Harold and his team do a fantasitic job of listening to their clients needs, and taking there information and putting it into a great set of working construction documents!!!!!!! As a builder who works with Design Team Plus, a great set of plans makes my job easier in the field! I would highly recommend Design Team Plus to any future clients!

**★★★★★ — Erin Kracht, Nov. 2016**

> I found Design Team + because I admired the work on a house in our neighborhood and saw that it was done by Design Team. We've had an exceptional experience working with Harold and team. He is not only extremely knowledgeable and thorough; he is very trustworthy and great to work with.
> The Design team used some of our "inspiration images" for a proposed remodel of our house - their first proposal/blueprint image was more than we could have hoped for. The remodel is nearing completion and the entire process with their team has been positive. We have full confidence in the improved structure, quality materials and appearance of our “new” home and appreciate the care that Harold has provided in monitoring the work along the way.

> Designteam Plus did the design work on my wood & tile kitchen floor with incredible attention to detail that was SECOND TO NONE. The size of the tile and width of wood varied to make all of the lines line up & look absolutely symmetrical and perfect. My wife & I couldn't be happier (and she is harder to please than I am!) THANKS Designteam Plus - Two thumbs up!!

**★★★★★ — Annette Tischler, Nov. 2016**

> Did the architectural plans for a large master bedroom and bathroom redesign and remodel. Personally came out to take measurements, offered up a few different design ideas, did revisions in a timely manner. Very professional, highly recommended.

**★★★★ — Saida Malarney, Nov. 2016**

> Harold Remlinger, of Designteam Plus, was recommended to us by our builder and from our first meeting we felt very comfortable with him. He is very personable and professional and listened to what we wanted. The fact that he is also a builder is a plus. He is very creative and blends his ideas with his knowledge as a builder. He is conscious of budget and able to come up with alternative plans to keep costs down.
> I would have given Harold five stars except for the fact that he had a couple of deadlines to meet before was able to get to our project. But once started he was on schedule. We enjoyed working with him and would recommend him without any reservations.

**★★★★★ — JoAnn Mayernik, Nov. 2016**

> We hired Designteamplus Plus specifically lead architect, Harold Remlinger, to design our home renovation and to get us through, what we knew, would be a challenging variance request process. Harold listened to what we wanted. He acknowledged a couple of quirky requests and put them in the final design. We believe it was his attention to detail, his thorough presentation and professionalism that made the difference in the variance approval. At the variance meeting one of the Board members complimented Mr. Remlinger on his presentation. We are now in the midst of construction and are confident all will go well given the architectural plans.

**Comment from DesignTeam Plus LLC:**

> Thank you JoAnn, it was a pleasure working with you Randy and John your builder.

## Community Q&A

**Q: love the garage doors** *(in Photo Questions)*

where did you get the large barn-looking doors on hinges? thanks

A: IT has been 12 years since the completion of this project. If my memory serves me correctly, they were from the Overhead Door company.

**Q: Love the art over fireplace - where did you get?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Unfortunately I do not have that information since. it is part of the owners personal collection from their previous home.

**Q: roof?** *(in Photo Questions)*

can you tell me brand and colors of roof? the metal and shingles?

A: The metal roof color is Pac-clad Kynar finish 'Zinc'. The standing seam metal roof was by Firestone \#UC-3 at 16" wide panels. Unfortunately, I do not have the color or manufacturer for the shingles since this roof was existing and only a few years old prior to the renovations.

**Q: Need help with paint color, landscaping, & a budget friendly facelift** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Please throw me some ideas for paint, landscaping, and a budget friendly facelift update.
The bay window/picture windows are going to be replaced with a group of double hung windows.

A: This project reminds me of one of our recently completed renovations which I have attached a few pictures. Your house suffers from the same dilemma as my clients did, an unpronounced front entry and a mixed bag of design elements.
I agree with loosing the bay window since it seems foreign to the elevation. If you are leaning to double hung windows make sure the proportions from width to height are at least 2/1 (example: 2 feet wide by 4 feet tall) as a minimum.
Look at creating distinct front approach to signify the entry point. Once this is established you can incorporate landscaping in the form of hard and soft scape to create an interesting and contextual approach to the entry door.
Other design items would be the incorporation of roof line variation. Your existing roof color, is an easy pallet to work with. I would suggest a light color in a shade of white or go the opposite to a dark warm grey.

Hopefully these ideas help and I wish you much success on your endeavors.

**Q: Carpet on wall to wall?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Beige, worn out old wall to wall, some stains. Brown leather sofa, chair and dark green small sofa. Can I put carpet on the carpet?

A: No, you must remove the old carpet and padding first prior to installing a new carpet and pad.

**Q: Blank wall on front of house** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The sketch shows a house we are building where we are left with a blank wall on the second storey facing the street. The wall is blank because it has ensuite bathroom, toilet & dressing room behind it.
We would appreciate any ideas for this blank wall that is about 6m wide x3.3m high and the side wall that has our bedroom window already there which we want to keep. We need street appeal please.

A: To provide additional examples, here is a before image showing a dated half round window and stucco facade. Because we understood the interior functions we proposed altering the windows as well as the exterior materials.
