Growing up in North Carolina, I was constantly surrounded by design and art through the influence of my mother and grandmothers. Interior design is my passion. I graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Psychology. After graduation, I moved to the DC area, where my passion has led the way throughout my career. My first job was with Ferguson Enterprises as a sales consultant. I was a part of the team that opened their showroom at the DC Design Center. I have also been a consultant for a local granite supplier and tile showroom. Most recently, I spent 10 years working for a remodeling company, where I was the lead kitchen and bath designer. I have over 14 years of onsite experience; learning products, construction and design planning including 20/20 design layouts. What is my personal style?? That is always a hard question. What I do know is that my main goal is to create spaces that are inviting, tell a story about the individual and/or family I'm working with, and to have an unexpected element in the design. Kitchens are my favorite spaces as in our modern world it is often the “new family room”. Bathrooms are another favorite place of mine to design. I enjoy creating a place that is yours to relax in and I welcome the challenge of achieving that feeling even in the smallest space. Oh and don't get me started on color! I might be a little obsessed with the paint wheel! My purse is always big enough to carry one wherever I go. My husband and two amazing young children (Truman & Maley = Truley) have given me inspiration in creating spaces that tell our family’s story. My goal is to offer that same story telling space to my clients. Kaki gave us multiple design/layout options to choose from. She made much better use of the space then we could have ever imagined. Her ideas we brilliant, extra storage space- closets and cabinets and a laundry room that is the envy of all of our guests. She listened to all of our concerns and design ideas and put them on paper and made them reality. Her materials selection was done with great taste too. We love our tile in the bathroom shower, on the floor in the laundry and the tile on the fireplace. We used a weathered wood synthetic floor throughout the space and have had a ton of compliments from friends and family. Once we had all of our ideas on paper, she was there to help us select a contractor and develop estimates to choose from. On top of all of that, she even stopped by and worked with the contractor anytime there was a question or she just checked in to see the progress. We could not be any happier with the way the entire project turned out. She had great ideas and the contractor choice paid off because they did beautiful work. She is professional and works with your budget. Kaki essentially reclaimed half of our house and could not be more highly recommended by my wife and I.
