I asked Michael about some issues with the bath remodel design and he gave me wise and timely advice. I was pleased with the results. So when I decided to remodel my larger bath, I had the confidence to hire McMillan Remodels to handle the project. Michael suggested tile, bathroom fixture and design stores to consider. I had some ideas in mind and Michael helped me clarify what I wanted. I am so delighted with the results, the tile work is beautiful, the paint colors are perfect, and the granite, tile and vanity all coordinate well. I eventually used my grandmother’s mirror in the bath because it was the perfect size and really just what I wanted. He discovered a leak in the old iron drain in the bath and I am so glad that Michael’s plumber was there to replace it and solve that problem. Michael also reinforced the studs of the bath walls from a past termite attack, and had a termite inspector check it out. The walls in my home were draped with plastic while he worked which protected it somewhat from all the dust. It was certainly livable for me, while he was working in my home. A: drewdanzig1, thanks for asking. These very complimentary colors are based on Sherwin Williams colors: Passive for walls, Cityscape for cabinets, 1/2 Passive on the ceiling. The adjoining bedroom walls are Argos. **Q: Vicki** *(in Photo Questions)* what is the color and the brand of the paint please. A: It was an old Kwal Paint color called Aztec Dawn that I had the local store adjust. A very similar color is Sherwin Williams Papaya. **Q: I need help with new paint colors** *(in Design Dilemma)* Just bought a home and remodeling. This picture is of my new living room, I'll post an additional picture of my current living room with my decor (I'll be changing out the sofa and chair, I haven't picked those out yet) The wall wall color in the decorated room is Sherwin Williams "Blonde" In the new home I'd like to use a few different colors, throughout, maybe warm greens, warm neutrals, and another golden color similar to the blonde but a bit more toned down maybe between blond and wheat. I like warm vintage type colors, no blues or greys.....colors that flow together nicely and bring out the colors of my decor, warm antique furniture, shades of greens, cranberry, raspberry, pink, light and dark creams, tan, and brown. All the cabinetry throughout will be a dark warm color. I have cans and cans of of sample paints and just haven't found anything I love.....My painter is waiting for my color choices.......Please share any Ideas...Brand name and color name, Thank you! Oh, Also looking for a nice warm cream/ivory trim color. The creams I've been looking tend to tones too grey, red, peach nothing just right so far. A: Some old standby's to consider: SW Kilim Beige, SW Macadamia, SW Liveable Green. Today we are using grayer colors with less sienna like SW Accessible Beige or SW Relaxed Khaki. Also, see BM Phantom. SW Moderate white is a good cream. **Q: Floors wood or wood-tile?** *(in Photo Questions)* Hi there! Are these floors hardwoods, or tile that mimics the wood look? They are stunning in this space, and really "pop" against the white tile. Thanks! A: Yes, it is tile. The trend today seems to be a lighter, weathered wood look. It took some searching to find this darker color to state a contrast. This porcelain also is textured, like a distressed wood floor. A colder floor in temperature than wood, but easier to maintain. Also great for homes with large, active dogs! **Q: Paint color** *(in Photo Questions)* What is the name of the wall and ceiling colors and who is it by? A: Walls are Sherwin Williams Harmonic Tan, 6136 The ceiling is a cut formula, try a shade or 2 lighter. The actual color is much greener (as in photo) than the color chip. Try a sample quart first! **Q: What kind of backsplash??** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi Houzzers - I'm back ... This time needing advice on backsplash! I'm leaning toward classic white subway tile with gray grout (or simply using the countertop 4" up the wall since it's such a small kitchen). Thoughts? Wall color is BM Marble White and trim is BM Simply White. Countertop will be Caesarstone Frosty Carina (mimic Carrera Marble). Stainless steel appliances and Brushed nickel cabinet knobs/pulls and lighting fixtures. Thanks in advance for all comments! A: I recommend always use a full backsplash in the Kitchen. Subway tile will be okay. Looks like your floor underneath the paper is a weathered brown tile. Consider a tumbled stone backsplash to play off the floor.
