We received excellent input from Polina, the designer. When I became frustrated about finding the right tile for the floor, she brought by samples. When I didn’t like any of them, she sensed my frustration and sent me to a tile store where we found just what we wanted. The tile installer, Igor, was exceptional! Her husband, Pavel, is the contractor. Although he is rarely on-site, his follow-up was good. After the project was completed, we had a problem with a drawer not fitting properly. Pavel brought the cabinetmaker to the house and changed out the runner (wrong size). We struggled to get the look we wanted in a window opening into the living room, but Pavel worked with us to get the look we wanted. > > All the finish work was (and still is) excellent. Let’s Remodel came in and replaced everything except a couple of appliances which we reused, and our new kitchen works wonderfully. We did not change much from the previous layout except for getting a complete range instead of a cooktop and separate oven, but that change gave us more useful storage in the pantry cabinets. They didn’t have to move any walls, but otherwise gutted the whole thing, including removing soffits. > Pros: > •Pavel and Polina and their entire staff are lovely people and nice to work with. > •Both Pavel and Polina respond well to texts and were pretty easy to get ahold of. > •Polina is a great designer. This was a great help. > •The finishes all came out beautifully. > •Removing our old square ceiling lights and replacing them with cans has been wonderful, and they did a great job of texturing the ceilings to match the existing brocade ceiling. > •They were able to install the fancy copper hood we bought. > •They managed to install the luxury vinyl plank floor throughout the house with no transitions. Beautiful! > •We had to replace some door and window frames which are stained throughout the house. They matched the stain perfectly. > •They knew the perfect thing for our corner cabinet. The whole thing pulls out for easy access. > Challenges: > •Pavel has a great crew, but he himself was not on site as often as we would have liked. This resulted in our catching a few errors that we then had to call about. Fortunately, we caught them before much work was lost. And there were only a few. The errors were cheerfully corrected. > •They got off schedule at one point and the schedule was not revised online to reflect the new reality. > •The job took a couple months longer than originally planned (partly our fault – see POD below, and partly theirs – finishing touches and our difficult hood). > Suggestions for you: > •Rent a POD. Our job included the new kitchen, new floors throughout the house, and painting all the walls. If it had just been the kitchen, we might have been able just to use the garage to store stuff. Maybe. But having to pack all the books and décor items, really maxed out the garage. And we forgot to account for the storage of construction materials in the garage as well. This really made it hard on the workers shuffling our furniture around. If we had rented a POD, we’d have been able to get some of the furniture out of the house and there would have been less shuffling. Pavel told us that the furniture shuffling really slowed them down, which makes total sense. > •Pay attention when Polina shows you all the fancy inserts for cabinets and drawers. The work on our master bath and bedroom was extensive. Our space is small, so the goal was to increase our bedroom space knowing and reconfiguring our bathroom. Polina completely resigned our bathroom with a walk-in shower, hanging toilet and hanging vanity, along with a linen closet and hamper in the bathroom. This linen closet is flush against the wall; therefore, it's added space without taking up space. She recommended pocket doors, again to maximize our limited space. Everything is ADA accessible, including the shower with seating and the water/shower controls next to this seating (just in case we need this in the future). Everything is super modern and absolutely beautiful. Pavel recommended that we remove the one large window and replace it with two smaller windows that frame our king-sized bed, as well as removing a wall, and installing the closet (with lots of shelves and drawers and room for hanging clothes) flush against the wall...gorgeous. We also put a pocket door in our bedroom. Everyhing is perfect...the fixtures, the colors, the lighting...everything. Of course, I knew it would be. Pavel and Polina are committed to excellence, to listening to their clients, to communicating effectively, and taking pride in their work. They are conscientious about budgets, timing, and cleanliness, and all their employees are respectful. Pavel and Polina are also wonderful people. I liked having them around. Our kitchen was from early 1990s, about 30 years old, and needed all updates. We had good experiences from the beginning, from Tania at the showroom's front desk who was patient with more than one visit, showing the options and example renderings and being very responsive in a timely manner, we were pleased with the level of support. Polina helped with the design and suggesting materials as well as improvements that are convenient and useful, and we liked Pavel's ideas of layout and what would make sense. Their crew for demolition, cabinet, countertop installer, paint are super nice, very respectful in the home and never had any issues for the 2+ months they were in the home. We considered other remodellers, but working with the team and specially Carlos who i think is a superman of can do and fix anything, we were very pleased that we had given the remodelling job to the right team. The remodel was completed in agreed time and cost and love the way it turned out.
