**★★★★★ — Cassie Brown, April 2023**

> We bought a home designed by Farheen and we absolutely LOVE the attention to detail. The closet space, countertop space in the bathroom, the laundry room size- the square footage is in all the right places and so much though went into making these floor plans livable and efficient. We are in a (smaller to us) 2915sqft floor plan and it lives so much larger than that. Really brilliant design and will absolutely be designing our next home with Farheen!

**Comment from FE Architects:**

> Thank you Cassie for such amazing words! I loved working on the design of your beautiful home! The flow of space, incorporation of natural light & details throughout were designed and studied thoroughly to provide you with the best possible experience. I hope you have many sweet memories in it & look forward to creating your next design!

> So much thought and care put into the design of our home. It’s laid out perfectly, every detail thought through, and to be honest, there should be more women designing homes because they think through the things that men don’t (like laundry room size, bathroom countertop space, closet space, etc). I’m so happy to live in a home design by FE and I absolutely will be having them design our next home as well.

**Comment from FE Architects:**

> Thankyou!! We love this review as creating a design that enhances function while being beautiful is something we strongly strive for in our projects. We look forward to collaborating with you for your next design!

 - Description: Perched above the street in Lakewood Hills, this home is a modern retreat rooted in nature. A central courtyard—designed to preserve an existing tree—anchors the layout, with dappled light and shadows dancing through its canopy. The exterior blends dark brick with purple undertones, cementitious board, and warm wood siding, creating a dynamic façade that shifts with the sun. Inside, the same materials flow seamlessly, with soft, intentional lighting and cozy moments like a tucked-away reading no…

 - Description: In Little Forest Hills, this corner lot house (E'Merge) is at the major intersection of Forest Hills Blvd & Tavaros Lane. - Description: In Little Forest Hills, the "interior" innere haus makes one feel like they are immersed within a clearing in a forest by strategically perforating the roof & façade to invite daylight through clerestories, ribbon windows and large glass sliding doors.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Am I overthinking my walk-in closet?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are in the process of designing an addition for our old house. The additon is two stories and this is the upstairs. The closet in the master bedroom seems out of place to me. Should we extend the closet all the way down the wall? Should we go with a reach in closet instead. I just feel like it's an awkward space. Especially since it creates that weird nook. Please give me your thoughts!

A: The bathroom & closet look really awkward to me. I would treat both spaces as one and design something that works a lot more efficiently than what is shown. If you're someone who enjoys a good bath, I would create a wet room with a shower and tub combined - you can also add the feature of a steam room with the appropriate ceiling heights etc. I would move the sink away from where it's shown and create some sort of an adjoining space between the bath and closet. Also, in my designs I like to incorporate some natural light through windows into the bath & closet space to make it more inviting and well-lit throughout the day (reduces the use of artificial light too). Hope this helps.

**Q: Seeking advice on exterior paint & trim colors & curb appeal** *(in Paint)*

Looking for advice or color recommendations for updating/refreshing the curb appeal for this rental property. Since it will be a rental, low maintenance is a plus. Of course, we planned on trimming trees & replacing the banisters. In the near future, we may be replacing the roof and if so, will go with weatherwood shingles (shingle color in last photo). Thank you in advance!!

A: Have a look at this project we did in Dallas: Innere Haus Design. Great curb appeal and looks good day & night. I would maintain the white trim on the windows and paint the siding dark. If possible, replace the steps & door with wood for a nice accent. Hope this helps.

**Q: How to give a modern look to this room?** *(in Paint)*

Thinking of painting the walls with neutral colors - white. Paint the trims white as well. The bookcase can be painted white or bluish grey. What do you think? What else can I do? What to do with the fireplace?

A: IMO remove the fireplace mantel and apply tile OR paint that fireplace wall to give it a modern feel. Keeping the bookcases and painting them the bluish grey would work really well with the white of the trims & bring together the room. I would also add a feature light/fan.
