**Q: Before and After: Main Bathroom Upgrade** *(in Before & After)*

This small green bathroom, needed an upgrade. Our clients wanted a space that was function as well as bright and airy. We kept much of the plumbing the same and installed new white and grey accented floor tiles, new bathtub, and new sink.

A: Great transformation!

**Q: backsplash narrowed down** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I narrowed it down to these two tiles (thanks to all the good advice). The difference being the size and slight color difference. The bigger tile is a light cream color and the smaller is a pale gray.

A: Pale gray would match better.

**Q: Kitchen renovation is almost done...still can’t figure out backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My kitchen/family room renovstion is almost done.  Stainless appliances are being delivered next week.  I was hoping to have backsplash installed first, but am just so stumped with what to do!  Cabinets are custom shaker painted BM White Dove, counters are Hanstone Italian Waves.  Paint On one small section of wall in kitchen and into attached family room is BM Barren Plain.

backsplash is about 30 sq. Feet total so a small area.  Counters have some movement So I don’t want anything to busy to compete.

Here is what I have for backsplash options...sorry for shadow.  From L To R:  Studio3 3x12 handcrafted in Silver, Zen Pearl 3x6, Equevo Pumice 3x6 (also comes in 2 x8), Daltile Ice Gray (sample is square, but I can order in 3x6 or 2x8 - will take 6 weeks) Daltile Desert Gray (3x6 or 2x8 are in stock)




With under-cabinet lighting on




I like the color And shape of the Studio3 but really think the size is too big for the small space -especially under the window area.  I worry about a lot of cuts that will take away from the feel of the tile)

otherwise i am stumped.  Do I go lighter (like the Equevo) or darker (the Zen). Originally I was going with the Zen but once the counters were installed I worried it was too dark.  Everyone I have asked of my friends picks a different tile.  I like the ice gray daltile but if I tell my contractor I won’t have tile for 6 weeks he will flip.

are there any other options you would recommend (that won’t take forecer to order?). Thoughts on 3x6  vs 2 x8

this decision is honestly driving me nuts.  I get more confused every day.

Our little 750 square foot slice of paradise on Maui 


made it difficult for two people to work in the kitchen, so we opened it up and installed an island. So much more functional space. It has doubled the size of our kitchen area.








Also created a "between the studs" closet for broom and canned goods. Made the barn door hardware myself with patio door wheels and some creative thinking.





Created a focal point over the oven by mixing glass tiles. Waves above and off white glass subway tile. Since the walls were already torn up, had the piping run to install a pot filler.

**Q: Backsplash help and before/semi after** *(in Home Decorating)*

You all were so helpful with my island so Im hoping you can help with backsplash. Here is the before and the after of the new counters and cabinet colors. I LOVE IT so far. I do think the kitchen needs something though. The pantry doors will be barn doors stained in Provincial and Im thinking of getting black caged lights for pendants above the island. 

For backsplash there is a beautiful 3x6 white beveled edge subway tile that Im leaning towards. Is that enough "something"? Can a beveled edge look good w a herringbone pattern? Or should I do something else like a white scalloped shaped? The one thing I love about the beveled edge subway is that it is glossy and almost looks like jewelry. I'd love your input...

Also, please try to ignore the floors. Those will hopefully be changed within the next year.

Some design ideas for you..

**Q: Kitchen Backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I need help finding the right subway tile for my Wilsonart Winter Carnival countertop.  It is busy so looking for something plain.  So many shades of tan out there.  Looking at Florida tile Retroclassique in Mocha but it looks so shaded (dark/light).  Would like to know if it would go with my countertop or any other suggestions.  Thanks.
