**★★★★ — HU-522621, Sept. 2016**

> We have worked with Dave Buck three times in the past 10 years and have found him easy to work with, very open to our ideas and always ready with ideas of his own. We would certainly work with him again.

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Hi David,
>
> Thank you so much for taking the time to write us such a nice review on Houzz! We would love to work with you again in the future.

**★★★★ — mikesuver, Sept. 2016**

> If you're looking for a firm that is passionate about architecture, takes the time to understand a clients design goals and works collaboratively with the entire team, then Chesmore Buck would be a great choice for your construction project. As general contractors, we appreciate that Rick and Dave encourage our input in the planning and execution of their home designs.

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Thanks for taking the time to review our work Mike. We certainly appreciate the collaboration with one of the most respected general contractors, Lockhart/Suver, that there is in the northwest.

**★★★★★ — Hilary Young Design Associates, Aug. 2016**

> As an interior design firm, we have worked alongside Chesmore Buck on several high end residential projects over the past fifteen years and thoroughly value the working relationship that has resulted. We have always been incredibly impressed with the finished design and our clients have been thrilled. For that reason alone, I’d happily recommend Rick, Dave and their team.

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Thank you for your continued collaboration Hilary which creates outstanding architecture for our clients.

**★★★★★ — Dale Nussbaum, Aug. 2016**

> Rick Chesmore, Dave Buck, and the entire team at Chesmore/Buck always impress me with the quality of their work and their process. Their projects simply turn out well.
>
> My firm, Nussbaum Group, has worked with Chesmore/Buck for many years, on both residential and commercial projects. Their care for their clients and buildings from the start of a process through to the end, and beyond, is rare and exciting. They listen well, focus on a client's program and budget, build and support a great project team, and then masterfully create beautiful and functional spaces with exceptional attention to detail. They obviously love what they do. They also understand that great work cannot be left to chance, so they actively involve themselves in oversight of the construction process, demanding quality and continuing to advocate for the program created by the client at the start of the process. I have watched clients proudly show, and enjoy for many years, the great architectural end result.
>
> I highly recommend working with Chesmore/Buck.

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Dale, we appreciate your wonderful review of Chesmore/Buck Architecture. You have been a very valuable asset to our team through the years and we look forward to future design collaborations with the Nussbaum Group.

**★★★★★ — jawright1986, Aug. 2016**

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Jill- thank you for working with us on your remodel. Your project is a great example of what living space can be when taking full advantage of the site and encouraging natural light to filter through the house.

**★★★★★ — Stuart Mcleod, Aug. 2016**

> they are the best architects. Creative, honest, detailed and listeners.
> I highly recommend them!! fun to work with. Work well with builders

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Stuart, we appreciate you taking the time to review our firm and the design services we have provided through the years. The most creative architecture begins with the most creative clients and you certainly fit in that category.

**★★★★★ — deBoer Construction, Aug. 2016**

> As a General Contractor, I worked with Rick Chesmore and his firm for close to 20 years on several new homes and remodels.
> Rick is very detailed and his drawings reflect this.
> He is Team oriented and works with us if we run into challenging areas.
> I would recommend Rick as a Architect and enjoy working on his projects.

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Thanks for taking the time to review our firm Joey. We always say that the missing piece to a successful project is the right contractor to perform the work and you have consistently been the right contractor for many of our projects.

**★★★★★ — baylward, Aug. 2016**

> Rick and his team were extremely professional and personal. Highest marks for their work. We like them so much that we have used for two projects.

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Thank you Bob for taking the time to review our firm. We continually use your project as a great example for clients to plan the right way even if that means construction of the project in phases. You were terrific clients to work with.

**★★★★★ — weiblingbeth, Aug. 2016**

> Rick took our 4000 sq ft condo from the 80s and transformed it into an incredibly open, contemporary condo of 2016. The firm took us through a great program that helped us identify our ideas and "wants" and communicate them to the architects. They then used their expertise to design amazing spaces.

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our firm Beth and Dennis. You were both ideal clients and communicated your needs and desires very well which always helps develop the best design process and ultimately the best projects. Your project is a shining example of the incredible difference a strong design process can achieve with the before and after space.

**★★★★★ — sandyteper, Aug. 2016**

> We worked with Rick and his team designing our new home. They really listened and were able to translate our wishes into a beautiful design. They were professional, dependable, creative and enthusiastic. They assisted us through planning and and a lengthy and complicated permitting process. Their on site visits during the build were key for the successful and timely completion of the project. I would work with them again in a heartbeat!

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Thank you for taking the time to review our firm Jeff and Sandy. We always tell perspective clients that the best projects begin with the best clients and you both were truly great to work with and were clear about your expectations and goals of the project.

**★★★★★ — Cathy Boysen, Aug. 2016**

> Our firm, CDK Interior Design, has had the pleasure of working on several of Chesmore Buck's custom residential projects throughout the years. Their creativity and attention to detail are evident in each project they design.

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> Thank you for taking the time to review our firm Cathy and Charlotte. Your collaboration with Chesmore/Buck Architecture has created some amazing Architecture and you are such a valuable asset to our firm.

**★★★★★ — Lee Zulch, Aug. 2016**

> I have worked with Rick on sophisticated commercial projects and my own residence. Rick is personable and creative. Rick works closely with all the members of the design team: Structural, civil, mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure that all decisions are made prior to the start of construction to avoid change orders during the building process. This is very important so that projects finish on schedule and meet the budget. He also inspires craft workers to bring the highest level of quality to a project. I look forward to working with him again.

**Comment from Chesmore/Buck Architecture:**

> We appreciate you talking the time to review our firm Cindy and Lee. Your project is a great example of how remodels can change a space to a more functional and practical space but also a place that becomes warm and inviting by the selection of materials.

## Selected projects

- [Lake Street Residence](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/lake-street-residence-pj-vj~1785203)
  - Location: Kirkland, WA
  - Photos: 13
  - Description: Large retractable doors open to expansive patios and decks extending the indoor spaces to the outside. The client desired an “edgier” feel while still using warmer northwest materials. The exterior materials are primarily stained horizontal clear cedar planks from British Columbia and cor-ten steel panels wrapping the garage and stair elements and Montana ledgestone is applied to the vertical fireplace chimneys. The interior consists of smooth concrete floors, “blackened” steel staircase, expose…
- [Whidbey Island Residence](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/whidbey-island-residence-pj-vj~1785890)
  - Location: Langley, WA
  - Photos: 14
  - Description: The client requested a small 2,000 square foot modern retreat that would celebrate its surrounding elements while still taking advantage of the spectacular views. The house is terraced with the site and stretches the full width of the bluff with floor to ceiling glass. An exterior “ground face” CMU block wall extends through the house and becomes a visual barrier between public and private spaces. The expansive views are experienced from every space in the house.
- [Semiahmoo Residence](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/semiahmoo-residence-pj-vj~1785343)
  - Location: Blaine, WA
  - Photos: 13
  - Description: Located just south of the Canadian border, this property faces views of Boundry Bay, White Rock Canada, and snow capped mountains. The owners requested the use of wood and stone with an emphasis on maximizing views from the house.

- [Sibley Wood Residence](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/sibley-wood-residence-pj-vj~1785506)
  - Location: Bellevue, WA
  - Photos: 14
  - Description: This site sets a top a high bluff with commanding views of the lake, Seattle skyline, and Mount Rainier. The main house is on one level with separate attached guest quarters for frequent visitors. The house “footprint” was designed to avoid all of the large fir trees so the wooded site would remain. The exterior is horizontal with the use of wood siding, aluminum windows, and ground face CMU block used for the base material.
- [Whatcom Lake House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/whatcom-lake-house-pj-vj~1785905)
  - Location: Bellingham, WA
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: This rolling site is heavily wooded and consisted of an existing house the clients had lived in for 25 years. Our goal was to keep every tree on site and so the design used the existing foundation for the new 3,200 square foot structure. A bridge spans from the higher auto-court elevation to the “tree house” main floor and the expansive views of Lake Whatcom. The lower floor daylights to the existing yard and the upper floor is built as a viewing “birds nest” with a 360 degree panoramic view of…

- [Medina Residence](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/medina-residence-pj-vj~1785853)
  - Location: Medina, WA
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: Situated on an extremely steep site along the shores of Lake Washington, the owners had moved to the Pacific Northwest from the east coast and desired a more traditional architecture. The long, steep, and narrow site presented many challenges during the design phase to achieve the ultimate goal of opening the house to the expansive lake and city skyline views. Covered outdoor patios and elevated decks extend the indoor spaces to the outside.

We designed the table and received Golby Walnut slab wood from Portland and then had a company called Specialty Woods in Tacoma provide a clear sealer. If you send me your email address I can send you our design along with custom steel legs and tie rods that hold the table together.
