He took time and we discussed a ton of moderate changes and his fantastic advice, before he even quoted what they would do the work for. We finally were getting the feedback and real-world expertise we needed! Gary spent more time with us in that first meeting than our first designer did the whole time we worked with him. Then, Gary handed us off to a team member of his named Brent who was just as impressive. > > Brent is easy to get a hold of, quick to get back to us with updates, VERY detail oriented, and obviously passionate about what he does. When we asked for a change or update, he either did it quickly, or followed up with us when he needed more information. We’re not builders or designers, just people who had a pretty good idea what they wanted, but Brent never ignored our ignorant questions. He never was sarcastic or frustrated when we had questions others may have felt were nit-picky. He never tried to rush us or tell us we were using too much time. You can just tell how much he cared. The fantastic suggestions he made and how patient he was with us make us feel he would act the exact same designing this house for his best friend. > > He was always going above and beyond. > > He added extra details, just to make us comfortable. One example: we’d already decided on our kitchen design and didn’t know if it would fit in the space we had. The first designer we worked with added cabinets very grudgingly and generically; never with much detail, just saying we could work it out with the carpenter later, assuring us it would look fine in the end. Brent took the opposite approach. He outlined the cabinet sizes to make sure everything lined up the way we wanted. He didn’t have to do that, and we found we needed to move two doorways/openings. If we wouldn’t have used Legacy, our kitchen wouldn’t have fit! > > Brent jumped into a discussion we were having with our city about the building envelope without being asked, making sure he could notate the plans the way they wanted to make sure they were approved. He added so many little custom details that our builder agreed he didn’t have to, but we’re so glad he did because so many of those little details won’t be forgotten in the chaos of construction. The plans are so much clearer, cleaner, and better now. We feel SO much more confident it will be built the way we want. If we’d built the house with the plans we had before Legacy, we’d be kicking ourselves for decades. Experts who charged a fair price. We went to Legacy with a floor plan, and they took our floor plan and made it a legit design. We pitched some ideas about sound proofing certain areas and Greg suggested a design to help accomplish the request that our builder liked as well. We expected it would take a month or more, but the design was completed in about 2 weeks. When we asked about changes during the design process, most of them were made on the spot. It made the meetings a little longer than what we thought they'd be, but the benefit was that the change was completed right when we asked for it. They asked a lot of questions, suggested things we hadn't thought of and several times warned us saying "well if you do that, you have to consider....". Thank goodness they wanted us to be happy with our house by looking out for us. > > When the design was complete, they suggested an engineer they had a good relationship with. I checked with several other engineers and the price/time to delivery were as much as double the suggested engineer. The engineers had the plans completed and stamped within about a week or so - much quicker than other quotes.
