> Cramer Homes is Amazing! Jeff was wonderful to work with. We found him very capable and knowledgeable and the team of subcontractors who he works with are equally so. We would definitely recommend Cramer Homes as a very qualified and dedicated builder

> We highly recommend Cramer Homes for your next Home Build. Jeff was very attentive to our needs, worked with us on changes and coached us through the home building process. Any issues that arised along the way were addressed in a professional manner. We love our house. Thanks Cramer Homes.

> Cramer Custom homes is one of the best home builders around. He worked with us on our specifics for a layout and dealt with our many emails. After we dug the hole, life threw us a curve ball and Jeff told us things would be ok. We kept moving and wondered if we would get the chance to even move into the house. After months of tears and stress, we got the news we had hoped for and keep on track with the move in deadline. Not only did Jeff get us in the house by our deadline, we got in our house so that we could celebrate Christmas at home. I highly recommend Cramer Custom Homes!

> My wife and I used Cramer Homes for our first new construction home. For a huge project that we thought would be extremely stressful, Jeff Cramer made it not only stress free but enjoyable. We always had open lines of communication and he was easily available to answer any questions we may have had. Jeff always provided multiple pricing options for all aspects of the home. From flooring to cabinets to fixtures he was more than helpful with providing multiple options while keeping us in budget at the same time. Our new home is above and beyond all expectations that we had and had hoped for. We will definitely be using Cramer Homes on any other construction projects that we have, including building our next new home.

> We have been in our house for 6 months now. Just multiple issues we are having to fix or replace. When the plan was made we asked for a over the stove hood. The builder had a vent put into the wall in between the cabinets. We gave him all specs and when we went to install the hood the vent was not centered in the wall. This just blows my mind how you could miss something like this. When they cut the holes in the drywall they cut too big. So you can see holes where the outlet cover couldn't cover. All the vents were full of drywall and dirt.... Everywhere around the house was filthy. The plumber used rubber lines instead of brass lines throughout the house which is cheap and lazy. The shower was not sized right because when the shower glass was installed it wouldn't fit. We now have a open shower because the shower couldn't structurally hold the door. WE have a CURTAIN up in our shower hooked onto the door. We were never asked what design of windows we wanted. He just said he puts in what he uses on all his SPEC houses. We wanted french doors to the deck instead of sliding glass door. He said it was on the blueprint and we should have said something. Really.... it is a line on the blue print. This builder builds SPEC cookie cutter house NOT customer homes. Everything is pre-built and bought before you can even think about making certain selections. Then when you do decide you want certain things he told us he already ordered everything and we would have to eat the cost. Builder fronts the money for the build to hide the money he is collecting for personal gain. We asked for receipts and he could not provide any documentation. Charges and allowances never added up correctly. We wish we could go back in time and hire a different builder.

**Comment from Cramer Homes:**

> Hello,
>
> It is unfortunate that this client has decided to write a misleading review about our company. He has chosen to leave out a lot of critical information which would undoubtedly change the way the review is perceived. Without getting too long winded I feel it is only fair that I reveal a little more of the story behind this very unique and unfortunate situation. In our 15 years of business, this is the first time we have had a negative on-line review.
>
> After entering a contract to build a custom home with our company, the client had some very unfortunate circumstances arise throughout the process. I would never disclose any of our client’s personal information. The same is true in this case, I will explain and defend our position, without mentioning any names and I will be as vague as possible to protect the family.
>
> This client suffered through a lot of personal, financial and employment turmoil during this construction project, it was a very unfortunate situation. The project was put on hold due to the client's circumstances multiple times. As a company, we were very sympathetic and understanding. We tried very hard to help the clients through their difficulties, stretching this project out 19 months (this home should have only taken 4-5 months to complete). We made many exceptions for them to try and ease the stress on their family and move forward with finishing their home. It was an unfortunate situation, even more unfortunate that they chose to take their frustrations out on our company and our contractors. We have no control over our client’s personal lives or finances. In our many years of business, this situation has never occurred before. We are a family business working to help our clients and their families. It is regretful that they are not appreciative of all the concessions we made in an effort help them.
>
> In reference to the “quality issues” the client mentions….
>
> Range hood: The clients hired their own appliance provider. Vent duct was installed in the wall stud cavity as dictated by their cabinet/kitchen design. This duct has a 16" margin so the installer should have no problem centering the hood on the range. Our company had nothing to do with the range hood installation. They purchased their appliances on their own at a “Black Friday” sale (against our recommendation).
>
> Plumbing: Our plumbers use PEX PVC waterlines, not copper. (Most plumbers switched to PEX a decade ago.) PEX offers many advantages over copper. Copper is old technology and is only used in certain situations. The client refers to these components as rubber and brass in his review, which is incorrect (just noting for clarity). We use high quality products that exceed all building code requirements.
>
> I am not sure what items the client is referring to as “pre-built” materials? This was a custom home. Everything was built as per plan. This home plan was a one of a kind custom plan the client chose. This was not a spec home as he states in his review. Windows, doors, etc. were ordered as noted on the plan and specification sheet which is agreed to upon at contract signing, all items are noted very clearly and we go over each line item at the time of contract.
>
> Other issues the client notes in his review are items that were directly linked to their change in finances and thier inability to allow us to complete the home. It is unfortunate he has decided to take these exceptions we made to try and help them and present them as a flaw in our construction practices. They seem to have forgotten the special agreement we made, which allowed us to finally complete the home. This was necessary to get their mortgage approval.
>
> We are a custom homebuilder. We have been building homes for 15+ years, with over 200 homes built. Our family takes pride in the homes we build. We literally have hundreds of happy customers. Many of our new home clients are referred to us by happy homeowners, whom we have built homes for! We form long lasting friendships with nearly all of our clients! As a matter of fact, these clients were referred to us by satisfied customers we had built a home for just a few months prior!

> I can't say enough nice things about working with Jeff and his wife Kelly on making our dream home a reality.
>
> We were very reluctant to build from scratch because we had good friends that went with a larger builder in Champaign that just kept passing them off to different crew foremen throughout the whole process. They actually never met the real owner.
>
> I appreciated the fact that we only had to deal with Jeff from beginning to end. He made the building process fun and very rewarding and Kelly was a huge help when it came to picking out fixtures, countertops and paint that brings it all together. It is obvious that they both have a great eye for details.
>
> Thanks again for listening to our wants and needs and we look forward to working with you on our next home.
