This company uses loads of sub contractors that are horribly unprofessional and have caused thousands of dollars in damage to my property while building the house next door to me. First, the backhoe driver that was grading the land ran into my retaining wall and would not have said anything about it if I hadn't come home while he was still there. When he saw me taking pictures of the damage, him, and his truck, he finally came over and offered to fix it. Next, their workers stole my water from my outside spigot and caused my water bill to double. Then, I got video of them stealing my neighbor on the other side's water and that house is an air b&b and the people renting at the time did not give permission and nor did the owner. Now, one of their brick layers has side swiped my car while going in and out of the driveway causing dramatic cosmetic damage to my back quarter panel. All the while denying all of it, even though I have documentation of most of it. The builder is never at the property making sure that his subcontractors are being respectful. They leave their half eaten food and trash on my retaining wall and it ends up littering my driveway. It also makes its way into my yard and the yards around us because they just throw plastic cups and cans and wrappers all over the place. There is no accountability or monitoring of these random subcontractors. It is despicable and has cost thousands of dollars at this point. I am so fed up with all of it and now I am also out my $500 deductible. One, all metal, and the other, almost all glass. Glass one is accented with Polished Chrome, while the all metal is Polished Nickel. They're both basically the same size (10.5" and 11" width), and we have an 84" wide island; 9 ft ceilings; u-shaped kitchen with white shaker cabinets on the perimeter, black on the island. Would love to hear from anyone who has these, any designers that have installed these. We haven't seen either in person. THANKS! A: If the polished chrome of the glass fixtures matches the rest of the metals in your kitchen than I believe they would be beautiful. They will allow for a better sight line as they will allow you to look through them. It really all depends on the style of your kitchen though and without a picture it is hard to know for sure. They are both great fixtures though! **Q: Need tips to start new home decor** *(in Design Dilemma)* I want to decide on the look and style of my new home. I am not sure where to start. I am not creative so I need lots and lots of tips. Things I am sure of: 1\) I want colors popping here and there, making it cheerful yet subtle. 2\) the house should look beautiful and modern yet homely I want to pick different furniture pieces / décor items from different styles (especially contemporary and transitional) I don' want to go with a "single color theme" for the entire house, I will get bored soon :P. What should I do ? A: As mentioned above, I would definitely start an ideabook for every room. This will help you figure out what it is you are drawn to. I would then start with the piece that is most important to you and work your way out. For example, find a rug you love and let that be your inspiration to determine your colors scheme and style. I am with you in that I don't like the whole house to have the same color scheme so one thing I try to do is to have one color present through out. Other colors change but there is one color that is consistent. Hope that helps! **Q: hardwood floors - direction of boards** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi everyone and thanks in advance for your help. We are renovating a condo for my parents. I have attached the floorplan. The designated areas on the graphic are where we are putting hardwood floors. They are nice long (6') engineered boards in a relatively light wood colour. The issue is which way to run the boards. I have outlined three options and posted images here: Here are the floorplans and options (you can view the pdf or the images online - I have tried to make this easy). Option A is what is usually advised, but my mother worries that the short boards in the halls will not be attractive. Option B runs the boards across the main living/dining room, and the installer and contractor feel that will shrink the room. Option C changes direction in an attempt to get the best of both worlds, but a change in direction might look odd. And what do we do with the bedrooms? Thanks! Feeling a little helpless because we need to decide asap!! Dave A: I would definitely suggest option A. The most important areas (living room, dining room, and master) will have the hardwood running lengthwise which will make the rooms seem larger. I for sure would not do two different directions as that will break up the flow of the condo. Hope that helps! **Q: Help with kitchen backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)* White shaker cabinets with stainless steel appliances and white Quartz countertops and island in critalita blue marble so don't know what color backsplash would look best also have a pillar on island that I need to tie in? A: Without a picture, I would say white. There is nothing more crisp and clean looking than an all white kitchen! The blue marble being the only color would probably look really nice and pop without any other color to compete with. **Q: READ ME! I just need one opinion!! Cabinet pull color** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi there! We have very traditional honey oak cabinets (I slightly despise them) that I just can't get rid of because they're completely fine and in perfect condition. I am painting walls Farm Fresh green and thinking of changing the pull handles to a darker color. What do you guys think? Our black granite has brown tones so it isn't completely black. I was thinking a dark rubbed oil bronze or antique black. Or maybe I should just leave them brushed nickel?? AH! Help! \*\*Note about the pic: Valance is no longer there, just a plain cream color honeycomb blind and that oak table has been replaced by a dark brown medium size rectangular table with cream color fabric chairs.\*\* Thank you!
