> Matt the owner told us he would be able to complete our remodel in 8 weeks and at 8 months he was not done with our project. We were unable to reach him for almost a month when he disappeared from our project and when he finally called us back we did a walk through and he started demanding more money. We finally parted ways because he wouldn’t finish the work and thought he should receive final payment even though the work was not completed. We later had a major sewer backup in the walls. The plumber that inspected it said it was not installed properly which is why it backed up into the kitchen and basement walls. We had to hire a restoration company to come out and clean up the mess Bichelmeyer had created with his substandard work.

> Matt & his crew built our bathroom and were incredible! He truly knew what we wanted and listened. When we didn’t know what we wanted he suggested options. If we had an idea, he would sometimes even build off it and make 1000% better. My husband and I are both very awe-struck and happy with his work and his team. He brought in high-end professionals who are experts in their field (a brilliant electrician and a perfectionist tiler.) We really can’t say enough about how great they were with us, and we recommend them highly to anyone. Also, cost wise Matt was extremely fair and reasonable unlike huge companies like Jericho. He allowed us to use what we wanted and didn’t just see us as another job or a paycheck. His team was professional and never cut corners. He treated us like close friends or family which is so hard to find nowadays. We will be using him in the future for our next two bathrooms and our basement!
> I’ve attached a couple pictures of our previous black tile carpeted bathroom and our newly finished amazing bathroom. We are still working on shelves and such, but we are enjoying the space and tub too much to get any work done. Ha Thank you Matt!!

> Bichelmeyer installed a tile floor in our home which has been falling apart since day 1. It was "fixed" repeatedly during the warranty period with poor workmanship and continued to have the same problems until the warranty finally expired. Now, after just two years, we are forced to replace the entire floor because it is beyond repair. Matt Bichelymeyer has refused to offer any refund or remediation and acts like he has no responsibility for the situation now. The poor quality of workmanship can be seen in the attached photos. I strongly caution anyone about letting Bichelmeyer Renovations into their home.

> I hired Matt to build a garage and redo my patio and it looks amazing. I am very pleased with his craftsmanship and great ideas on making everything look really nice. He was very much into the project with me and seems as proud as I am about how well it turned out. Guests have claimed that the new patio area has a 'resort' feel to it. The garage looks as though it was a part of the home's original build and the connection is seamless. His follow-up on items that needed additional attention has been excellent. I would certainly recommend Matt for your home project.

> I will for sure hire Matt and his team again for future needs. I highly recommend them! I can’t say enough good things about Matt’s efficiency, craftsmanship and professionalism.

> Matt and Emily did a kitchen remodel and master bath remodel in Spring 2018. They helped with design, planning and the choice of materials. Their quality of work was excellent. The project was completed on time and within budget. We were very comfortable with the workers in our home. They came back after completion and did a couple of touch up items. We are very pleased with the projects and we would highly recommend the Bichelmeyer's.

**★★★★★ — Jill Murray, March 2018**

> LOVED working with this crew. Easy to talk about ideas and designs without feeling intimidated by lack of knowledge. And it was nice seeing the same faces everyday, no surprise people changing out throughout the process. Polite crew, always good communication. We will be using them again for our next project and HIGHLY recommend them for yours!

**★★★★ — Linda Mitchell, Dec. 2017**

> I chose Matt Bichelmeyer because he didn't try to sell me anything, listened to what I wanted, was willing to be flexible about materials and ideas, and quoted a rational price for the job. I also really liked Emily Johnson, who is the designer and shopper. Although there were some hiccups along the way (including the timeline), the job was completed to a very high standard and I am really pleased with my kitchen and bath. Much of the credit goes to Ben and Stephen, Matt's full-time crew, who were the most incredibly fabulous guys to work with I have ever experienced. They were creative, efficient, hardworking, and perfectionists about their work. Most of the detail work in the photos are because of their artistry (and mine--I built the bookshelf and my own collection of doorknobs and drawer pulls was part of the design). Emily was terrific to work with and Matt, when I could get hold of him, did what I asked him to do. I would work with them all again.

> From the very beginning we felt at ease with Matt Bichlemeyer. At our walk through he listened to exactly what we wanted. We told him our budget and that we could not go over it. He gave us ideas to be able to do what we wanted and stay in our budget. He allowed me to have a specific vision and be very involved every step of the way. I was able to research and find good buys on tile, faucets, etc to help save costs. And he was ok with that. The crew was respectful and prompt. And Matt made sure to prepare me for days where it may seem like nothing is getting done. That it’s just part of the process. We were very happy with our complet d project and will hire them again when we need any remodeling work done. We can confidently recommend this company and know th will do quality work. Everyone who comes to our house and sees the kitchen raves about the quality of work and say it could be featured in a magazine!

**★★★★★ — Ward & Paula Hoffmann, Oct. 2017**

> Professional and timely. We have hired Matt on 2 occasions. The first was in 2014 when we had all the windows & doors replaced. New siding and new roof. We were so pleased that when it was time redo the kitchen; Bichelmeyer Renovations was who we called.
> Matt and his crew are excellent and caring professionals. Stayed on budget and on time with great workmanship. Would definitely recommend.

**★ — Stephanie DuCharme, July 2017**

> It started out well, however as the project progressed the owner Matt Bichelmeyer was absent. Emily, the project manager, was great and would even sometimes correct Matt when he had forgotten when he told us certain things. Emily went out of her way to help us track down hardware for cabinets and other various things. Problems started with the installation of Arabesque tile. The grout lines were uneven and the grout color was inconsistent. There were even sections missing grout. When we pointed it out they redid the tile, but the problem was that no one was quality checking the work being done. We feel that if we didn't say anything about very obvious quality issues, they were going to ignore them and just expect us to accept it. Also, the painter Matt hired was someone he was trying for the first time. The painter told Matt (per Matts words) that we were "being too picky". For a $50,000 remodel, we should be picky when there are missed areas - especially on the kitchen cabinets. The worst of it all is our rustic hardwood floors. They had to stain, sand, and restain 3 times. At one point a worker had gouged holes in the wood trying to fix a wood putty color issue and when they realized they couldn't fix it they had to start all over again. The floors were supposed to be finished when we went on vacation so that we were already out of the house. They didn't get completed, and the workers left bags of sawdust on our lawn which combusted and caught our lawn on fire. Luckily our neighbor saw it and called the fire department. We didn't even know it happened until we returned from vacation and our neighbor told us, then we received a letter from the fire department. At the end of the project, we created a "hit list" of items that needed to be completed before we would make final payment. His response to the list was unprofessional and surprising considering he hadn't been to our house in weeks and wasn't checking the work of his workers. He later apologized after coming to the house. After all of the work and rework on the floors, we immediately started seeing issues and contacted Matt back in November 2016. We had sinking boards and unbelievable scratches, holes that weren't filled, and uneven boards. When Matt was unresponsive we had a company come out to give us their unbiased opinion and they said they were not sealed properly and really the quality of the boards were poor. We contacted the manufacturer of the flooring after Matt did nothing but come out to look at it and never got back to us. The manufacturer in their own words said "quality of workmanship can be achieved if properly sanded, filled and recoated". It would cost another $1500 to do this so we asked Matt to cover these costs and he has not responded to any emails so that is when we decided to write this review. Had he backed up his work, this review would have never been written. There were some small things they never finished as well. We just wanted him to do the right thing and he chose not to and now we have to pay to have the floors fixed.

**★★★★★ — LInda Backstrom, March 2017**

> We hired the Bichelmeyer team to renovate our kitchen, mudroom and 2-1/2 baths, and couldn’t be happier with the process and outcome. Matt was dedicated to making sure we were happy with the results, and willing to entertain and implement any ideas along the way. Emily kept things organized, was indispensable in dealing with vendors, and was an enthusiastic sidekick for picking out colors, lighting, etc. The crew was creative, professional, and considerate. Bichelmeyer was on schedule and on budget, and we would hire them again for any home improvement project.

## Community Q&A

**Q: love the fireplace!!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you tell me the type of brick or stone that is? did it go over an existing fireplace?

A: Hi Laura, Thank you for the question. What we used was a cultured dry stack stone. The original fireplace only went to 6ft. tall so we framed up the rest to the ceiling and installed our concrete backerboard to that to be flush with brick. We also installed wiring and reinforced framing for TV mount in upper section before backerboard. Then we just set stone over the existing brick and all the way up the wall. Hearthstone was used for the top of the hearth box which is the seat area of the fireplace. The hearthstone should be sold along with stone. You will need corners for stone as well if your building it out from the wall. Good luck with your project!

**Q: Love the tile backsplash. What is the name of it?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Thank you for reaching out. The backsplash tile was selected and purchased by our client so we do not have that information on file. I do know that we sent them to "The Gallery" in Lenexa, Ks to make there selections and they used our acct. for purchase. You must work with a contractor that has an acct. so if you need our help just let us know! Thanks - Matt Bichelmeyer
