**★ — angieandian, March 2024**

> Recently, S&H Renovations remodeled one of our full bathrooms & laundry room. We have a lot of experience with remodeling, and this was by far the worst remodeling experience we have ever had. Hunter is very argumentative and difficult to communicate with. We had so many issues throughout this remodel. The bad experience began when we had a major flood after his contractor failed to connect our washer correctly after moving it into the laundry room When we frantically called Hunter to get it cleaned up, he argued with us about how long it takes for water damage to occur. We just wanted the mess cleaned up and any damage caused from it to be repaired. The contractor did come out and get it cleaned up that evening, but Hunter's attitude during this situation was very unpleasant and set a really bad tone for remainder of project. We did in fact have water damage, which he did take care of. We spent several thousand dollars for S&H to build custom STORAGE cabinets for laundry room. Once they were completed, we found out that they didn't include shelves. When we contacted Hunter, he said we didn't request shelves. We just assumed that custom storage cabinets include shelves. He sent me a change order for more than $600 to add shelves. We opted to hire another company to build these shelves because we do not want to work with him. The cabinet doors do not close completely. We assumed the hardware needed to be adjusted so we had Hunter come out twice to re-adjust them. He was unable to fix them and claimed that it is common for doors to not close all of the way. We told him we expect them to be repaired or new doors to be built. He reluctantly agreed, but it has been 6 weeks now, and he has yet to deliver and install the new doors. The contractors were incredibly messy and did not make an effort at all to clean their work space. We understand the dust and general mess that is part of remodeling, but there was no mediation taken to reduce the impact outside of the workspace. Dry wall and plaster were constantly tracked throughout our home and never cleaned up. We came home one evening to our kitchen sink covered in dried plaster. We came home one afternoon to tile being cut inside of our home, which caused a huge unnecessary mess. We have plenty of workspace in the front of our house with easy access to outlets. Once the project was completed, we were excited to come home to see the final product only to find that the laundry room and bathroom were an absolute mess. When I asked Hunter when a crew would be out to clean, which is a very common practice in home remodeling upon completion, he said we didn't request this in the contract. Again, we just assumed it would be included. The contractors destroyed our existing wood floors. Gashes were put in our new epoxy floors in garage. So many things were unaccaptable. Quality was definitely not up to par based on price we paid.

**Comment from SH Renovations:**

> Dear Angie,
>
> Thank you for taking the time to provide detailed insights into your recent experience with SH Renovations. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we appreciate the opportunity to address each concern you've raised. Understanding your perspective allows us to identify areas for improvement and ensure a better experience for future customers.
>
> 1\. The water damage incident: The issue arose due to the washer being moved back and forth during the project, resulting in a drain hose becoming dislodged. While we responded promptly to rectify the situation, we understand the frustration caused, particularly given the late hour and urgency of the situation. Despite you screaming and cussing, our team remained committed to resolving the issue and minimizing any damage to your property within 2 hours of the initial call.
>
> 2\. Custom cabinets: The sketch/layout of the cabinets were signed and approved by you before construction began. Any additional requests beyond the agreed-upon scope may require adjustments to the project plan and associated costs. We apologize for any confusion and are open to finding a solution that aligns with your expectations.
>
> 3\. Cabinet doors: Warping can occur with extra large doors, particularly during the painting process. The warping you mentioned was minimal, ranging from 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch at most, and we offered to replace them free of charge. We provided an estimated timeline for addressing the issue and are currently in line with that timeline. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and are prepared to work with you to find a satisfactory resolution.
>
> 4\. Cleanliness during the project: We understand your concerns regarding cleanliness and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. It's worth mentioning that cleaning services were offered as part of the initial contract, and we apologize if there was any miscommunication regarding this. We understand that you declined this service as you already had an ongoing cleaning arrangement in place.
>
> 5\. Scratches in the garage: We take responsibility for any damage caused during the project. However, we want to clarify that the concrete countertops were wrapped in plastic and had foam ends to prevent any contact with the ground. The scratches you mentioned were not caused by our team, and we have photos to support this.
>
> We value your business and are committed to ensuring your satisfaction with our services. Please feel free to reach out to us directly to discuss any further concerns or issues you may have.
>
> Sincerely,
> Hunter Thompson
