The project began in December of 2013, at which time the owner of the company, Danny Ray, began the process of obtaining the necessary permits. Quite a few permits were necessary in order to begin the process, and Dan facilitated what is often and arduous process and did so smoothly and quickly. There were some real challenges involved; for example, a need for an additional parking space off street, in order for potential renters to park safely. On- street parking was potentially a safety issue, due to heavy Monday-Friday commute traffic on the wide boulevard that is Moorpark Ave. But Dan was persistent and professional, and was able to convince the County of Santa Clara of the need for additional parking on the property, adjacent to the driveway, in spite of the fact that originally the county rejected our request. > Throughout the building process Dan worked closely with me on plans and specifications, and assisted me with ideas that ensured the reflection of my personal tastes in design and color in the end product. He took trips with me to look at tiles, fixtures, flooring and other essentials and asked questions that helped me define what was best for me, and what represented my goals not only in style, but in price. > The entire property is lovely, and the bathroom, in particular, is a work of art. Dan installed a handicap style bathroom that will make it possible for me to live here even when I am very elderly, as the shower has a built in tiled bench, and no obstacles to entering or exiting. > Further, Dan is wonderfully efficient in an emergency, and invariably remains calm. For example, he assisted me in solving an electrical issue in the original dwelling having to do with an early move-in situation in connection with my tenants. > Finally, he did a beautiful job with designing and completing the necessary front yard landscaping, most of which had to be created from scratch, as there had been nothing but blacktop there prior. > In closing I must say that he did much much more than I could ever list here, and I would recommend him to anyone who wants quality construction of a home addition, remodel, or brand new structure. Not only is he absolutely professional, but he always extremely kind and patient, and even put up with my dogs. Our contractor (Nordstar Construction) had demolished our kitchen and abandoned the project after taking $17k. For 5 weeks in the summer with 3 kids, no work was done. Dan Ray came in, redid their shoddy work, and completed the project before Thanksgiving so we could eat together again finally. He was easy and calm and straightforward and reliable. Dan Ray was exactly who we needed when we were lost. He guided us through various design decisions and put us in touch with the appropriate experts to make all the interior design decisions (lightning, bathroom layout, etc). > \- Attention to detail: Especially with wood work (cabinets, trim, roofing, etc) The principal is a master carpenter, and does that detail work himself. > \- Very easy to work with. A pleasure to have around. We’re almost sorry to see him leave at end of project, but thrilled to have our space transformed! > \- Highest Integrity.
