Hi! I'm Emily Caudill Klapkowski, the owner of You-Neek Designs. My passion is creating designs for interiors, exteriors and everything in between. I specialize in renovations, so I am a construction junkie. I love taking a home that was designed decades ago and adapting it to fit the current functional needs of a family in the 21st century. Ready to knock down a wall and open things up? Do you want to create an outdoor oasis to extend your living space into mother nature? Thinking of an addition or remodel and don't know where to start? I'm your gal. We will talk through your style and functional goals and I will help you piece it all together. I have a full network of trusted contractors for whatever the project scope. The devil is in the details. And boy oh boy are there details in renovating your home. I will be there from concept to completion making sure the design is executed correctly, in a timely fashion and within a budget you are comfortable with. **★★★★★ — Deb Wilson, Dec. 2019**

> Emily was great to work with. She is very personable and organized. Our project was finished ahead of schedule. She offers opinions when asked for, and will offer as little or as much guidance as the customer requests. We were not living in the city at the time, so she gathered samples and provided options so that we could make most of the decisions in a minimal number of meetings. Emily took care of everything: deliveries, procuring and negotiating with the contractors and making on site decisions or adjustments when needed. She was very good about keeping us informed along the way. We are very pleased with our renovations and strongly recommend You-Neek Designs.

**★★★★★ — Wilson Architecture + Design, LLC, July 2019**

> I've the pleasure of collaborating with Emily on multiple projects over the past year. The end results are always fantastic and the process of working with her team, seamless. I look forward to continuing my working relationship with You Neek Designs!

**★★★★★ — Prime 1 Builders, March 2019**

> This was the first project that we worked with You-Neek Designs and it was a great experience! Emily was extremely organized and had a great plan for us when we started the project for her. She was extremely quick to respond to our questions regarding the design of the project as the guys were working. She is pleasant and friendly and it was a pleasure working with her. We look forward to working with this design company again in the very near future. We would highly recommend You-Neek Designs for your next project.

**★★★★★ — Patrick \_MCN, March 2019**

> The project was a kitchen remodel. The project was completed on time and in budget. Emily brought a very good team with her that addressed all concerns and went above and beyond addressing problems due to previous renovation. All issues were addressed to our satisfaction. This was our 3rd and final major renovation to the house. We only wish we had find Emily and her team earlier. We have used Emily after this project to assist on design of a commercial building that we onw.

**★★★★★ — Brooke Rakowski, March 2019**

> Our renovation included an addition and deck, plus updating the original plumbing and electric. You-Neek Design team was there with us from meeting with the structural engineers to being there on move-in day. You-Neek Design provided us with the latest products from lighting to tile samples to make us feel confident in our choices during the remodeling of four bathrooms and overhauling a kitchen. They made a stressful process turn into a manageable one with their attention to every detail, especially making sure all the decisions would add up to one seamlessly designed house with each space complimenting one another. The designs are not the latest fads but ones that will remain in style for years to come. Thank you You-Neek!

**★★★★★ — Laurie Dearolf, Feb. 2019**

> We hired You-Neek Designs for a kitchen facelift (counter, backsplash, sink & faucets). Emily and her team helped us select the right materials for our home and budget, and the project was completed right away. We'll definitely choose You-Neek Designs again for other rooms in our home!

**★★★★★ — HU-281415930, Jan. 2019**

> Emily and her team were fantastic to work with! I could not have asked for more. She is creative, helpful, attentive and respectful. She goes above and beyond with everything she does. She made my kitchen ideas an even better reality. I would highly recommend her and hope to use her with any future projects I might have.

**★★★★★ — Kelly J, Feb. 2018**

> Emily transformed our office space from boring to stylish! She really listened to what we wanted and brought it to life. We were amazed at how quickly the project was completed and how easy she made everything come together for us, especially at a very busy time for our business. We were thrilled with the finished product.

**★★★★★ — Monique Pietropaoli, Oct. 2017**

> This was my first experience hiring a designer and I couldn't be happier with the result! Emily from You-Neek Designs listened to me and was very deliberate in adhering to the budget I gave her. The result is everything I wanted. She redesigned our 2 level deck into a welcoming addition to our home. I was given several furniture options and layouts so I could see what the end result would be. She reused some furniture and with accents made my deck look expensive but warm and very inviting. Throughout the process it was clear to me her primary goal was me loving the deck. I've had so many compliments on it and plan to use Emily again on rooms inside the house.

**★★★★★ — Claire Rogers, Sept. 2017**

> Emily was very easy to work with and communicate with. She had great ideas that were in line with the style that we were looking for. She gave great suggestions and was able to keep the project within our budget while and timeline with beautiful outcomes! The contractors she uses are excellent, trustworthy, and produced high-quality results. I would recommend Emily / You Neek to friends and family!

**★★★★★ — Ron&Bev Park, July 2017**

> Emily did a fantastic job for us. Great design concept, wonderful suggestions for all kitchen fixtures, sink, lighting, etc. Her work crews were wonderful and perfectionists! We cannot believe how much our kitchen has transformed thanks to Emily.

> Hire her. You will be glad you do !!

> You-Neek was a pleasure to work with! She helped us out a lot of character and fun into our new house. She is very attentive and is great at figuring out exactly what you want before you even know it yourself! We will certainly be coming back to work with her again when we have more projects in the upcoming years!

  - Description: The kitchen in this home was dramatically undersized in relation to the overall scale of the house. To add space, we knocked down walls and built a small addition for an elongated work wall in the kitchen. Half walls on either side of the range helped to maintain an open concept and visually connect both ends of the first floor. We built a walk-in pantry and incorporated an extremely large island to provide endless counterspace. For a wow factor, a unique extra large 2’x4’ ombre-patterned tile c…

  - Photos: 25
  - Description: This home’s galley kitchen was indicative of the home style and the year it was built, but it was not functional for the family living there. They wanted a kitchen expansion in order to maximize its potential. The renovation included an addition that pushed into the backyard and went the full width of the current kitchen. This allowed us to create an L-shaped work wall and a large island with breakfast bar seating, as well as sliding door access to the patio. We used the old kitchen space to cre…
- [Colonial House Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/colonial-house-renovation-pj-vj~6204302)
  - Location: Canonsburg, PA
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: To double the size of this colonial-style kitchen, we combined the formal dining and eat-in kitchen in one space. An oversized fridge, large pantry cabinet and built-in china cabinet/serving wear cabinetry upgraded the kitchen to fit the skillset of the primary family chef. By relocating the sink for maximum efficiency, we adjusted doorway openings, window locations and sill heights. The rejuvenated space is anchored by a Subzero/Wolf kitchen appliance package and oversized island. We’re proud o…
- [Tree House Vibes](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/tree-house-vibes-pj-vj~7199108)
  - Location: Pittsburgh, PA
  - Photos: 12
  - Description: The deck on this house was old, with an ineffective layout and rotting wood. We came in to give this family more outdoor living space, with a bit of a tree-house vibe. The new deck incorporates a roof with a screened portion, as well as open air for grilling. We even thought of the family dog, by adding a pet door from the house to the deck. Infrared heaters and oscillating fans enable the family to use this space year-round. With a beautiful garden below, we saw an opportunity to extend the nod…
- [Green With Envy](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/green-with-envy-pj-vj~7199160)
  - Location: Venetia, PA
  - Photos: 19
  - Description: This 15-year-old, custom-built home had a very unique layout. Unfortunately, unique wasn’t functional at all for this family. With ample space to work with, we flexed our creative muscle. We started by dividing the kitchen into two islands: one for cooking and the other for multi-use as the bar, dining and homework area. The second island also includes wine storage, another garbage can and laptop cubbies. We even incorporated a built-in butcherblock cutting cutting board at the end of the cookin…
- [Embrace Character](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/embrace-character-pj-vj~7482080)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 21
  - Description: This 1940’s Mt Lebanon home has character oozing from every direction. Walls were blown out between the kitchen, dining and family room to create a large great room feel in a small footprint. An exterior door was removed to free up space. A banquette was added in the dining space to give more room to enlarge the kitchen and includes a picture ledge above the wainscoting. A narrow and long island packed a lot of punch in a small square footage. This kitchen is all about efficient storage, as the…
- [Party Pavilion](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/party-pavilion-pj-vj~7199201)
  - Location: Canonsburg, PA
  - Photos: 29
  - Description: More covered outdoor space was the wish for this family’s lounging and dining needs. In tackling such a big job, we had to balance increasing the space with how to soften the addition. The answer to creating more square footage came with new, extremely high vaulted ceilings and access to the existing below grade basement. To make everything feel seamless, we intermixed brick and stone veneer to blend the new hardscape with the existing brick house. Planters added a tasteful touch. We included a…
- [Basement Revival](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/basement-revival-pj-vj~7199251)
  - Location: Canonsburg, PA
  - Photos: 15
  - Description: For 40 years, this basement sat unfinished and filled with storage. With the kids grown and married, they needed space for their expanded family to hang out and for grandkids to run around. As the basement was completely below grade, we had added outside access with a previous project preparing for contractor point of entry for this renovation. The completely reimagined basement includes a full bathroom, TV lounge area, dining, kitchenette and buffet area. All while maintaining unfinished storag…
- [City View](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/city-view-pj-vj~7199282)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 21
  - Description: This condo on Mt. Washington needed a kitchen as beautiful as the view. We completely reimagined the existing space by adjusting the hallway wall and adding a large island. Two work walls were arranged in an L configuration, which was a considerable upgrade from the previous layout. The oversized island includes breakfast bar seating along the wall of windows. We used antique mirror for portions of the backsplash to reflect the city skyline, allowing those in the kitchen to see and enjoy the vie…
- [Ranch Restoration](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/ranch-restoration-pj-vj~5749051)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: This ranch-style home was in need of a complete overhaul and reconfiguration. We started with a full bathroom featuring a new tub/shower and vanity with a fun patterned tile floor. New LVT flooring was installed throughout. We also knocked down the kitchen wall to the dining/living room and created a breakfast bar peninsula. There’s also a mixture of two accent tiles on the backsplash, and a barn door closes off the utility room from the living room. Within a small footprint, we created the opti…
- [Decadent Dormer](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/decadent-dormer-pj-vj~5679626)
  - Location: Pittsburgh, PA
  - Photos: 15
  - Description: This is a study in multiplication. We were tasked with turning the second floor from two bedrooms and one full bath to three bedrooms and two full baths. So we leveraged unused attic space around the existing rooms, giving us the perfect opportunity to add a bedroom and a bathroom. To incorporate natural lighting and headspace, we created a large dormer window out of the front side of the gable roof for the primary suite, and were able to utilize existing windows for the other two bedrooms. We a…
- [1940s House Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/1940s-house-renovation-pj-vj~6204487)
  - Location: Pittsburgh, PA
  - Photos: 16
  - Description: What this home lacked in space, it owned in potential. We set out on this renovation to maximize every nook and cranny, making every square-foot usable. The first plan of attack was to close off an exterior door that was never used, allowing us to enlarge a window for added light. We renovated the kitchen to be more modern but also maintain a look historically relevant for a 1940’s home. We incorporated a peninsula breakfast bar for added space, and a storage-based banquette was built into the f…
- [Triple Threat](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/triple-threat-pj-vj~7482679)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 28
  - Description: Saddled with two existing bathrooms that were inefficient and aesthetically outdated, this busy family of five needed more bathroom space. Our solution is a real showstopper. The redesigned master bathroom took over an underutilized sitting room within the master suite, boasting a large double shower with a long bench along the back wall. The floor tile rolls into the shower on the floor and continues up the back wall. Then, the window was enlarged to spill natural light into the bathroom and be…
- [Classic Kitchen Revamp](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/classic-kitchen-revamp-pj-vj~5470703)
  - Location: Pittsburgh, PA
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: This project involved doing a “half demo” to achieve a whole result. We began by removing a wall to open part of the kitchen into the dining room. This included a demo of half the kitchen cabinets. The rest of the kitchen cabinets stayed intact and were painted the same color as the new cabinets. We then installed a new 3-dimensional geometric backsplash and new quartz countertops. Next, we replaced filled in a window in order to give us ample wall space for the refrigerator. In the redesign, we…
- [Immaculate Iridescence](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/immaculate-iridescence-pj-vj~7482742)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 26
  - Description: What makes for a gigantic project? A three-story addition, second-floor reconfiguration, laundry upstairs, two home offices, five bedrooms, two powder rooms, three full bathrooms, a reading lounge two living spaces and a partridge in a pear tree. This family of five now has a space for everything and everyone. And despite the multiple facets of this renovation, the addition seamlessly looks like it was always there. Most don’t even know there is an addition. The client has a unique love of every…
- [Mid-Century Modern Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/mid-century-modern-kitchen-pj-vj~4804886)
  - Location: Pittsburgh, PA
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: This client has a definitive love of mid-century modern in their 1940’s Mt Lebanon home. We brought the function up to their current day needs while staying true to the historic elements of the home. Simple/classic walnut slab doors paired perfectly with the simplicity of using the quartz for the countertops and backsplash. The client wanted to keep the privacy from the dining room, which lent itself to a nice, compact U-shaped kitchen. The dark black Forbo flooring is seamless and continues the…
- [Gamechanger Times Two](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/gamechanger-times-two-pj-vj~7485742)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: Both full bathrooms on the bedroom level were in major need of a full gut. The hallway bath was simpler, as we installed an acrylic shower to replace the outdated shower with new shower glass. A replacement window was installed in addition to new custom vanity, floor tile and toilet. The primary bathroom was a bigger effort, as we expanded it by 18” into the bedroom to give room for a wider bathtub and larger vanity. To deliver more space in front of the bathtub, an in-wall toilet was specified.…
