> Bill and his crew have worked on our home 3x in 29 years; 2 major renovations 1989 and 1991 Great attention to detail. Honest. Does what is right. Bill Butler Builders was the first name we thought of when we noted some serious structural issues getting a bid( unrelated to his work I might add!!). And he did it inexpensively , the right way. And, he listens to you- which led to a bathroom upgrade --29 years after the first one ( which we loved!). And the result was a HUGE SUCCESS ( at least that's my wife's opinion). Sticks to budget; uses change orders effectively, no surprises.

> Professional, personable, prompt, detail-oriented, and always striving for quality--these words describe the team at Bill Butler Builders. After living in our house for 27+ years, my husband and I decided it was long past time to update the kitchen. Our house was built in 1929/30, with a small kitchen typical of that era (ca. 11’ x 12’), which was last updated in the 1970s. Due to various constraints, expanding the size of the kitchen was not an option. In addition to the small size, the contractor also had to take account of three doorways into and out of the kitchen, an entry-area cabinet, heating and plumbing pipes which ran along the outside wall to the second floor, and a cast iron radiator under the sink, none of which could be moved without great expense. The renovation was to involve gutting the space down to the studs; removing hidden electrical wires from previous remodels; installing new electricity and lighting throughout the space, insulation, underfloor and top floor, drywall, cabinets, countertops, sink, faucets, and a doorbell; and retrofit the entryway cabinet. The plumbing and radiator were to remain where they were. The project also was to include painting the new drywall and the side entryway which opens into the kitchen.
>
> I researched several contractors and kitchen design professionals; we took bids from five. The price quote from Bill Butler Builders (BBB) was in the middle of the price range. What drew us to sign with BBB was the (1) responsiveness and friendliness of all those who were part of the BBB team (office staff, cabinet designer, lead carpenter, tile installer, plumber, and others); (2) quality of the products they recommended; and (3) very detailed contract. At the first meeting at our house, Bill brought Sandy (an office manager), along with other members of the team so that they could all hear first-hand our desires and needs, and to assess the unique factors of this particular kitchen renovation before submitting a bid.
>
> The sense of teamwork carried on throughout the project. The members of the team were professional craftspeople who worked diligently to make sure everything was done to high standards and was completed on time—actually, it was completed before the projected end date. Tom, the lead carpenter and on-site manager, a genius at anything involving carpentry and fix-it projects, and Sandy were always responsive to my questions. In discussing the bid, Bill cautioned us that there could be unanticipated problems in those old walls, such as mold and asbestos, which luckily were not found. One problem that was never anticipated though, was the possibility of the outside wall having no support joist. Tom asked to talk with me and my husband about that problem they discovered during the deconstruction process. He outlined the two options and the costs of fixing that problem. This extra cost brought a change order from BBB for us to sign indicating our agreement to the additional cost. Tom also did a few fix-it jobs, unrelated to the kitchen renovation, which also required change orders. These change orders were done so that there would be no surprise charges at the end of the project. Tom handled the on-site work efficiently and professionally.
>
> Bill worked with various employees and subcontractors to do the work. I spent much time in-person and through many emails conferring with Al Curran at Curran Cabinetry & Design who was in charge of the cabinets and countertops. We are highly satisfied with the work that he did. The rest of the team (plumber, electricians, painter, tile installer), along with those already mentioned, were friendly, reliable, and responsive to my questions. The team did quality work. One thing that really impressed me was the dust control and the clean-up that they did at the end of each work day.
>
> During the course of the two-month renovation Bill, who was the behind-the-scenes manager, and the office staff, primarily Sandy, did the coordinating, handling all of the minutia of getting the job done on time and to the highest of standards. The team at Bill Butler Builders was always respectful and thorough. Kudos to a job well-done. Highly recommend.

> Bill did a major kitchen renovation for us. I asked around for recommendations, and Bill's name was always on the top of people's list. I have never hired a contractor before, and was very leery of it, as there are some truly shady contractors out there, lots of horror stories. As it turned out, Bill is the antithesis of my worst fears. I had some time to get to know him a bit, as the project lasted several months. Besides being personable, I really like his professional ethics... He's one of the good guys. As for the build, we ran into some accidental discoveries and had to make adjustments. That happens, when you start ripping open walls. Bill was able to correct the issues, explain what was needed and why, and negotiate reasonable budget adjustments on the few times it was needed. Our house is much the better for it. The subcontractors were all very good to work with, they all seemed skilled and trustworthy. I have hired some of them since then to do routine repairs. I'm a big DIY-er, but there is no way I could have coordinated all the various tasks myself--plumbing, electric, flooring, cabinetry, appliances, drywalling and the rest--and kept my sanity. Yes, you do have to pay for a contractor, but the build was done right. and he stands behind his work. I am certain it would have cost me more to try to manage this myself. It so happened that it increased the value of the house, so all in all, it came out fine. I can't recommend Bill enough.

> I've known Bill for over 25 years. He is an honest, respectable businessman who does high quality work. I would not hesitate to recommend Bill Butler Builders, Inc to my friends and family.

> Bill and his crew did an incredible job on our remodeling project of a new bathroom, gable over the front door, and a new roof and extended eave. They worked quickly, cleanly, and came in on time - even when some changes in design were dictated. I strongly you investigate AND use Bill and his crew. You won't regret it!

> Bill and his team did a fantastic total remodel of our 1923 2 bedroom bungalow . Due to old wiring we had to go down to the studs. Replaced all wiring and plumbing. Used foam insulation and all new energy efficient windows. Converted 2 small bedrooms and bath into a master suite with bath and walkin closet. Remodeled kitchen, added washer and dryer to main level. Took attic area and made 2 bedrooms, studio area, bathroom and 4 storage areas. We also added a 2 car attached garage. We changed the gas heating and central air to a geothermal system (best idea we did, love it). The care and detail of keeping the original style of the home while updating it to the 21st century was unbelievable.

**★★★★★ — Connie Thompson, March 2018**

> Worked with 3 companies in planning our kitchen remodel. Bill and Sandy presented multiple designs as opposed to the others who presented 1 or 2. They reviewed our requirements and did an excellent job of not only designing the kitchen, but also getting us in contact with the perfect cabinet company, electrician, plumber, etc. We added to the project with adding another single garage and a new basement under the new kitchen. Bill's carpenter team is top notch -- they were respectful of the fact we were under construction for an extended time, keeping us informed through all steps and they cleaned up each night before they left. As a testament to their quality, at the end of the build we had very few, small things they came back to fix. I know this sounds like a made up review, but this is real and you can contact me if you want any further information

> We hired Bill Butler Builders to put in an egress window in the basement of our ranch home. He coordinated with the landscaper we hired (who he recommended) to re-grade our property to ensure water flow away from the home. He also was the general contractor with a plumber who installed drain tile and a sump pump for us. He was professional, respectful, and responsive. They did quality work. I have recommended him to others.
