I do not love them. I feel like they r too overpowering. Who thinks these morris lanterns from visual comfort is a better option in either the nickel or brass finish A: There is no "BEST" anything... Not helpful but good luck finding something YOU like. **Q: Urban Craftsman Renovation...** *(in Before & After)* We recently bought this neat "Little house" near where I grew up in inner city Houston. The home is just over 900 sq. ft. with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath sitting on a nice 5,000 sq. ft. corner lot next to a park. Excited to renovate and bring this home back to it's former glory if not a tad bit beyond that...She don't look like much right now but keep watching... A: wow. can't wait to see the result. good luck! **Q: New pot lights cast shadow** *(in Design Dilemma)* We added new pot lights in our living room. We love them but they cast a crazy shadow where our lamp is. I'm not wanting to change the pot lights at all as they add brightness to the room. So what can I do in this corner? Open to rearranging furniture, removing lamp and/or adding something new. A: Just noticed it's just a tall lamp. Disregard comment about table. **Q: Kitchen backsplash applied to cabinets** *(in Design Dilemma)* My kitchen design called for the stove to sit directly adjacent to the oven cabinets. I have already damaged the cabinet wall with a hot pot touching the cabinet wall while on the stove. Any ideas on how and what type of backsplash to apply to the cabinet wall? A: The best solution is to get rid of the cabinet tower holding the microwave and oven but If that's not possible for you, and you think your best solution is to put some sort of tile or stone on that cabinet wall next to the range top then there are special fire proof paints that you could possibly use to paint the side of the cabinet before you apply the stone or tile to the side of the cabinet. As a disclaimer against the few hostile posters here, I do not advocate doing anything not up to local building codes, and make no claims about my suggestions except it's a possible solution. Do your due diligence. Personally, I would get rid of the tower cabinet, ask the appliance supplier to swap the range top, warming drawer and wall oven with a free standing stove and pay whatever difference he wants. Then put the microwave in the lower cabinet. Good luck. Hope you will come back and tell us how you resolved the situation. **Q: How many ovens do i really need?** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are in the design process of a kitchen remodel. We cook A LOT, entertain frequently, and have two small children. Our initial thought was a 48" range with a separate wall steam/convection oven. We also thought about a 36" range with a second full size wall oven as well as the steam/convection. Is this overkill? Advice please! Colleen A: Sounds like you're asking if 3 ovens is overkill... Honestly you're the only person that can answer that. If I was entertaining a lot I would have two separate cooking sections if possible so that two people can be on burners at the same time. Probably 3 hobs, a wok and a double on one side and a double on the other... Maybe a 54 or 60 inch hood above. Definitely two electric French door ovens...and a commercial hobart dishwasher. I wouldn't mix gas and electric ovens as they cook differently and I would lose track of that. Not sure of the importance of a dedicated steam/convection oven, but if you like it and you know you need to have 3 ovens going at the same time, why not. Good luck with your Reno! **Q: Is a 61inch freestanding tub big enough?** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are doing a master bath remodel. I would like to order the Boyce Freestanding Tub from Signature Hardware in the 61"inch size. Do you think it is too small for one to bathe in? The bottom inside measures 36"X17" which sounds really small. I am only 5'6 but can't imagine the size when sitting in it. Hoping someone out there has a 61" tub and tell me their opinion. If I can get away with the 61" then I can add another cabinet. Thanks. A: Just a suggestion, every tub shape is different, I don't know this tub, but I've found when I go to the tub store, there are a lot of uncomfortable tubs out there.
