It turns out the previous owners, who remodeled the bathroom themselves had not installed the Travertime tile correctly, so moisture was seeping through the wall and damaging the ceiling and wall below. After trying several different approaches to this problem, we went with Matt's recommendation to tear out and rebuild the entire shower wall. Matt was able to correctly diagnose the problem and fix it, but more importantly created a more beautiful and better functioning shower environment for us in the process. World matched the existing architecture of my home so closely that a neighbor walking by during the project remarked, "It looks like it was done all at the same time". From gluing all the corners and seams, to polishing the exterior PVC - a lot of time and attention was paid to every detail.
